3 Introduction ScanPoint is an application specifically designed to integrate your Sharp multi-function scanner/copier with SureClose. Using ScanPoint, allows you to scan a paper document and send it directly into a SureClose Placeholder. ScanPoint eliminates the need to save scans to a shared drive or them to a SureClose Inbox for chopping or filing later. This ScanPoint User Guide provides the basic information you will need to access the ScanPoint application from your Sharp copier, select a File and Placeholder from SureClose, and scan and send documents. With ScanPoint, it s as simple as Select, Scan, Sent! Placing Documents in the Scanner It is recommended that all pages (not just mixed page sizes) be placed into the feed tray with the top of the pages entering first and with their printed side facing up. This causes the pages to orient correctly once in SureClose. Feeding Documents into the Scanner/Copier Using Various Sharp Models Currently, these models are available for use with ScanPoint. Accessing ScanPoint Depending on the model of Sharp copier you have, you will follow one of the steps listed below to access the ScanPoint application: Steps 1. Press the Document Filing button (A), then press the Sharp OSA button (B). A OR B Press the OSA button. ScanPoint User Guide 2

6 Steps continued 5. You can display all Placeholders or search for a specific Placeholder. Complete the action below that best describes what you would like to do: Display All Placeholders - Press the Next button. All Placeholders available for the selected file will display in alphabetical order. Use the up and down arrows on the right side of the screen to scroll. Search for a Specific Placeholder - Press the Placeholder button to access the Search screen. On the Search screen, enter one or more characters from the Placeholder name, and then press the OK button. Note: ScanPoint limits the number of Placeholders that display. If you follow the steps to Display All Placeholders but do not see the desired Placeholder in the result list, try filtering the result list by following the steps to Search for a Specific Placeholder. IMPORTANT TIPS Placeholder Searches: 1. To view only Placeholders beginning with a specific letter or number: In step 5 press the Placeholder button then type the first letter or number of the Placeholder name. 2. To view only Placeholders containing a specific word: In step 5 press the Placeholder button then type the word from the Placeholder name. 3. To view a specific Placeholder: In step 5 press the Placeholder button then type the complete Placeholder name. ScanPoint User Guide 4

The scanned document is filed to the selected File and Placeholder in SureClose. 8. After scanning a document, you can search for a new Placeholder in the same File or search for a new File. Placeholder Search - From the Placeholder list, press the Back button one time then press the Clear PH button. Follow the instructions from step #5 above. File Number Search - From the Placeholder list, press the Back button one time and then press the Clear button. Follow the instructions from step #3 above. ScanPoint User Guide 5

ScanPoint Build Feature The Build feature is designed for instances when the number of pages you want to scan into a single SureClose Placeholder exceeds the number of pages you can load into your

8 ScanPoint Build Feature The Build feature is designed for instances when the number of pages you want to scan into a single SureClose Placeholder exceeds the number of pages you can load into your copier/scanner feed tray. Follow the instructions below: Divide the total pages to be scanned into multiple batches. The number of pages in each batch should be less than the maximum number of pages you can load into the feed tray. After selecting the Placeholder for the document, make sure that the first batch of pages is loaded in the feed tray and press the Build button (do not press the Scan button). When the first batch of pages has finished scanning, a new screen opens. Place the next batch of pages in the feed tray and press the Scan More button. After all batches have been scanned, press the Done button. If a paper jam or misfeed occurs during a Build batch, the entire batch will need to be rescanned, not just the pages after the paper jam. 9 Using the Keypad This section describes using keypad options based on the model of Sharp copier you have installed in your office. Sharp Models: MX-350, MX-M450 and MX-M700N Sample Screens Sample Display Screen Sample Screen with Panel Note Sharp Model MX-M450 It is recommended that no more than 45 pages be loaded into the document feeder at one time for all scans when using the Sharp Model MX-M450.
