4 page 4 1. Pcounter configuration Before you can install PCembedded.OSA, Pcounter PRO must be installed an operational. In the following chapters the essential steps for the Pcounter installation and the settings required for the OSA-integration module will be described. For detailed information about Pcounter installation an administration please refer to the Pcounter Manuals Pcounter for Windows and Pcounter Configuration Guide. 1.1 Installing Pcounter Start Setup.exe and und confirm the default settings. 1.2 Setup Pcounter Start Pcontrol, go to "Network view" and select the local Pcounter Server. Go to Server Pcounter Configuration Data Server and create a new local Data server. Got to the Services/Ports Tab. (Server Pcounter Configuration Services/Ports) Install the services "Printer Control service", "Data Server service" and "Port Monitor". Then start the "Printer Control service" and "Data Server service". The symbol leads you quickly to the requested configuration windows, either for the Pcounter server or for the printers. 5 page Printer Setup Create local printer using the Pcounter Port: If the printer is not visible in Pcontrol perform a Server Refresh or restart Pcontrol. Attention! Make sure that all printers are using the Pcounter port monitor. In a Win XP environment some registry modifications have to be done when selecting the "Printers"-Tab in Pcontrol. 6 page DocuAnywhere - PullPrint Control System s DocuAnywhere allows users to release their print jobs at any (compatible) printer in your network. So the print jobs will follow the users to the printers where they log in. If DocuAnywhere is NOT used, the "real" print queues must be shared, so users can have access to them. WITH DocuAnywhere the users print to a special "Pull-Queue". The "real" print queues are no longer accessible, and therefore they don t have to be shared. PULL_Queue Queue_1 Queue_2 Queue_3 Depending the location where the user logs on to an MFP the Jobs are moved from the Pull-Queue to the "real" queue of the desired MFP. 7 page Setup of a Pull-Queue Pull print can be configured by using a central pull queue where all print jobs are collected or by pausing an individual output print queue. The advantage of the configuration of a central pull queue is the possibility to release print jobs on each printer in the network that is connected to the Pull Queue (also called FollowMe Print). In the following example it is explained how to setup Pcounter for a central Pull Queue. Please bear in mind that printers connected to the Pull Queue should be supported by the same type of printer driver. If you have different device groups in your network with e. g. different options or the requirement of specific printer drivers, then it may be necessary to create multiple Pull Queues. In this setup instruction it is assumed that the Pull Queue and the Output Queue are on the same server (local Pcounter server). Create a new print queue on the print server, name it e.g. Pull. Associate a Pcounter Printer Port and set host name to Share the printer on the network. All users are printing to the Pull-Queue (shared queue). When a print job will be released on the MFP, the print job will automatically be forwarded to the connected output printer. Note! It is important to select a printer driver being compatible to the "real" printers. All users are printing to the Pull-Queue. The print jobs will automatically be forwarded to the "real" printers, where the users are logged in. For ALL MFPs and Pull Queues managed by PCembedded.OSA configure Advanced printer settings Select Start printing after last pages is spooled. Disable advanced printing features! 8 page Setup of Accounting PCembedded.OSA retrieves the accounting information directly from the MFP. To avoid double counting the built in Pcounter Accounting must be switched off for ALL MFPs managed by PCembedded.OSA. In Pcontrol, select the Queue from the printer list and click Select Accounting None To allow PCembedded.OSA to check the print job cost against the user s balance, Pcounter has to calculate the print job cost when receiving the jobs. Therefore product prices have to be configured on the Prices tab. To keep the jobs spooled on the Pcounter server the item Pause all jobs must be set to Super pause. Count Jobs in advance for display has to be set to get costs of print jobs. In case of Pull Print Super Pause is required only for the Pull-Queue(s). Copyright 2013 by Control Systems GmbH & Co, KG

9 page Setup of Pull Print from Remote Print Servers The following scenarios are covered by this setup procedure: - Pull queue and output queue are located on different servers - Pull queue and output queue are located on a remote server - Pull queue and output queue are on the local server Install Pcounter on all servers. Configure each server as described below. On the server which has been dedicated as the central Pcounter Data Server (let s call him PDS ) install the following components: - Pcounter Printer Control service - Pcounter Data service - Pcounter Ports - PCembedded.OSA On the second server and on other print servers, if existing, install: - Pcounter Printer Control service - Pcounter Ports - PCembedded.OSA In Pcounter Configuration select the central PDS as the Data Server. On all Servers select the central PDS as Data Server and enter the remote print server credentials. Use a LOCAL Admin account that is the same on all servers (same login name and password). Pcounter accounting configuration window can be shown by clicking on [show dialog] link in PCE management. After the Pcounter Accounting Configuration has been set, restart the Pcounter Printer Control service on ALL servers! Copyright 2013 by Control Systems GmbH & Co. KG

10 page Pcounter Administrator Pcounter Administrator must be launched once to select a domain or computer where Pcounter will retrieve it s user information from. Attention! The tag for [Set balances to default values on startup/refresh] must be set. Pcounter embedded requires a balance information (even if it is 0). Finally the balance for at last one account (e.g. Administrator) must be saved manually. Now the user information files required by will be created. Copyright 2013 by Control Systems GmbH & Co, KG

11 page Setting up the MFPs We assume, that the required OSA-keys (from Sharp) are already entered at the MFPs. The External Accounting Module (EAM / AMX3) is required. Note Usually MFPs shall run the latest firmware version. In case of malfunction e.g. change of specification it might be required to downgrade to a former version. 2.1 Firmware: Dragon/Jupiter Please start the configuration web-site of the MFP. 15 page Scan2Me Scan2Me can be configured on all MFP supporting 3.x and higher and that provide a graphical touch panel with Wide-VGA or Wide-SVGA resolution. Make sure that Sharp-AMX2 option is installed on all MFPs that shall be configured with Scan2Me MX-Firmware Please start the configuration web-site of the MFP. Log on as Administrator. 17 page Configuration of Ports / SSL Setting By default PCembedded.OSA is configured to use port 9150 for SSL communication. To change communication ports go to Settings IP address and ports Make sure the ports selected are available and not used by any other application. Go to Settings MFP installation help Be aware, that in case you change communication ports or from/to HTTPS the Application has to be re-registered on all MFPs. 18 page Card Readers There are several types of card readers that can be used for PCembedded.OSA. 3.1 USB-Readers MX-MFPs can easily be equipped with an USB card reader. Make sure the USB port the reader is connected to is enabled. For Aries and Virgo machines the USB port needs to be activated via Simulation 55-3 setting. 19 page Networked Card Reader (.NET) In case you MFP does not support OSA-V3.5 login may be performed with card readers directly connected to the network. The card readers will not be connected to the MFP. They provide a network interface (TCP/IP 100 BaseT). A network connection and a IP-number is required for each reader. A special OSA-Card Reader thread is running on the Pcounter Server "talking" to the card readers DAccS-Server server OSA-Card Server OSA-Application Server Make sure, that a suitable network connection (100 BaseT) is available Setting up the network parameter for the card reader WizNet DS Manager The card readers are connected through a serial-to-ethernet device server (DS) to the network. The device server manager allows you to set up the network and serial parameters of the DS. The WIZnet Manager setup is available at c:\daccs\install\wiznet-*.exe. The password for the wiznet tool is: wiznet Press the "Search"-button to retrieve a list of all devices. The DS manager shows all available DS in your network. Select a Device Server. Now you can change it s IP-number and the port settings. Enter the server IP to the "Server-IP" field Please note: By default is working on port 9100 Press "Setting" to save the changes into the device server. Do not use the "Upload" button. 20 page 20 Make sure that the in management Settings IP address & ports the CardServer ports is set accordingly. (default = 9100) Hint Depending the Windows Version you are running differetn Versions of the DSManager must be used: V for Win 7 / Vista / Win 2008 V for WinXP / Win2k / Win 2003 ( does not support DHCP so you need to work with static IP numbers. Pressing the "Serial" tab you have access to the serial settings. Usually there is no need to do any modifications as these parameters are factory preset. 21 page Example Configurations This chapter will show exemplified configurations according special requests. 4.1 "Hide" the Pull-Queue Windows can not prevent users from seeing other user s print jobs spooled in a shared pull-queue. To prevent this, the Pcounter pull-queue must not be shared and an additional "pre-pull-queue" (Helper Queue) needs to be installed. This pre-queue is shared, receives the jobs and immediately forwards the jobs to the original pull-queue. Helper-Queue "IN" Pull-Queue (Pause) MFP-Queue (TCP/LPR) LPR Pcouter Remove the share form the PullQueue In Pcontrol Pcounter Configuration o Enable the LPD Server o Give a LPR Queue Namen to the Pull-Queue In Windows ("Printers & Faxes): Add a new Printer with a standard TCP/IP Port. 22 page 22 Select an appropriate printer driver. Select a Printer Name..and a share name, to enable clients to connect to this printer. Finally configure the printer port of the new Helper- Queue. Printer-IP: Enter the IP-Address of the local Pcounter print server. Enable the LPR protocol and enter the queue name of the Pull-Queue (as assigned above). 23 page Working with remote Pull-Queues In case more than one Pcounter server are installed, they can be configured in such a way, that print jobs spooled on Server_1 may follow users to be released from a terminal linked to Server_2. Pcounter PRO Version 2.52 or higher Pcounter PRO DLL V 09/2009 or higher Local Administrator-Account-Password must be identical on all Pcounter Print servers RPC Service In Pcontrol the servers are shown with their local queues and their local pullqueue(s). 24 page 24 Run the "Device Configuration dialog" by clicking to the field "pcounter queue" in Embedded Management Add to the field "Pcounter pullqueues" the pull-queue of the remote server. This needs to be done on all devices that shall be allowed to pull print jobs from the remote server. Now the remote print server credentials need to be configured on all pcounter servers to allow the remote access. Run "Pcounter Gateway configuration" on all Pcounter embedded server and enter the 'Remote print server credentials' Use the local Administrator account and Password. Important Make sure the local Administrator Password is identical on ALL Pcounter embedded Server. Copyright 2013 by Control Systems GmbH & Co, KG

26 page PJL Identification - SAP Support / PJL Alias Usually print jobs are assigned to a user according the user s context (Windows-login data). In cases where this is not feasible or wanted (e.g. in a SAP environment) Pcounter may assign the print jobs to a user according the PJL-Header information. Additionally the "PJL-user" can be replaced by an Alias (e.g. the Windows-login name). This allows a "mapping" of e.g. SAP-users the related Windows-user names. This feature can individually be enabled for specific Pcounter queues. This may allow the administrator to create a specific SAP-pull-queue. Please follow the below steps to enable the PJL-Alias function: Make sure to use Pcounter 2.52 or higher (in case of Version 2.52 or below the patch needs to be added). open this key in Regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers\PrinterName\PcounterConfig Create a new DWORD-value: UsePJLIdentification Set to 1 and save The user name and document name on all jobs to the printer will be changed, according to the incoming PJL data in the print job as SET SET JOBNAME="PJL-Dokumentenname" Copyright 2013 by Control Systems GmbH & Co, KG

27 page SAP Support/PJL Alias If the username filtered from PJL Header does not match a user in the Windows domain (or a Pcounter User), an additional alias lookup file can be created that will set the user name to the name found in the alias file. The alias file is C:\WINDOWS\system32\PCOUNTER\PJLAlias.ini, (c:\windows\syswow64\pcounter\.. on a x64 Server) and may be created with the following syntax: [Alias] PJLUser1=WindowsUser1 PJLUser2=WindowsUser2 PJLUser3=WindowsUser3 Etc. Example: If the print job SET USERNAME="W2231" and W2231 corresponds to the Windows user name "karl.lagerfeld" Add the following entry to PJLAlias.ini W2231=karl.lagerfeld The job owner will now be changed to "karl.lagerfeld".
