Warning: Upon installing this Service Pack, you may notice the following behaviour: During the initial BlackBerry Enterprise Server startup, the server may experience an increased load as a large volume of appointments are sent over-the-air, causing the server to appear to be in a hung state. Once the server has completed this startup procedure once, the problem will no longer occur. Details: Due to changes made in this release to how special characters are handled by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server when creating the calendar s synchronization state file, any user with a non-alphanumeric character in his or her display name requires a new synchronization state file. (Please see section Fixed issues in this release, Symptom 3, for further information.) This causes the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to re-scan the calendar during initial load up, resulting in an increased load on the server, which may then appear to hang. System requirements The BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software requires the following hardware and software components: Hardware Computer with an Intel -compatible Pentium processor or compatible (233 MHz or higher, 128-MB RAM, 1-GB hard disk) Software BlackBerry Enterprise Server works in Microsoft Exchange 5.5 (or later) or Microsoft Exchange 2000 native environments, or in a mixed (Microsoft Exchange 5.5 and Microsoft Exchange 2000) environment. This section is divided into software requirements specific to the following situations. Installing with Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Installing with Microsoft Exchange 2000 In all installations You must install the requirements for either the Installing with Microsoft Exchange 5.5 section or the Installing with Microsoft Exchange 2000 section, and then install the requirements in the In all installations section. The following software is required for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to function: 2 BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Readme file

Installing with Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Windows NT 4.0 Server (Service Pack 5 or later) or Windows 2000 Server (Service Pack 1 or later) Microsoft Exchange 5.5, Service Pack 4 or later mail server environment (recommended installation on a separate computer than the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service) Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Administrator (Client only) with Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Service Pack 4 installed, on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service computer, with access to the Microsoft Exchange Server Note: Service Pack 4 of Microsoft Exchange 5.5 is not required on your Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Server(s). It IS required for the computer on which your BlackBerry Enterprise Server service is installed. Warning: If you install Microsoft Exchange Administrator on a new computer, you must run it and connect to a Microsoft Exchange Server that shares the site in which you will install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Before installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server, install the CDO.dll hotfix for Microsoft Product Support Services Knowledge Base article Q You can download the hotfix and obtain information on the Knowledge Base article from: arch&ordinal=1, and then copy the CDO.dll hotfix to C:/winnt/system32/. The CDO.dll should be version Installing with Microsoft Exchange 2000 Windows 2000 Server (Service Pack 1 or later) Microsoft Exchange 2000 (Service Pack 2 or later) mail server environment (recommended installation on a separate computer than the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service) and Microsoft Exchange 2000 System Manager Note: If Microsoft Exchange Service Pack 2 is installed on the Microsoft Exchange Server, it should also be installed on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. 4 The following software is required for BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management (required if Microsoft Exchange 2000 is installed) to function: A database tool (MSDE, SQL 7.0, or SQL 2000) must be installed before, during, or after BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management installation, before you can use BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management In all installations Warning: To install BlackBerry User Administration, BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management must also be installed on the same computer. Note: BlackBerry Enterprise Server and Microsoft Exchange are not required on the same computer as BlackBerry User Administration. BlackBerry User Administration has the same system requirements but requires different permissions than the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. You should not have Microsoft Outlook installed on the computer on which you are installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If Microsoft Outlook is present on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server computer, wireless calendar synchronization will not work because Microsoft Outlook s versions of CDO.dll and MAPI.dll files do not support wireless calendar synchronization. If Microsoft Outlook is opened on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, it will attempt to overwrite the MAPI system. Therefore, Microsoft Outlook on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server is an unsupported configuration Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 (available from is required to read the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software documentation that is provided in PDF format. Refer to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Installation and Getting Started Guide for further details on the appropriate system requirements for your installation environment. Firewall configuration The BlackBerry Enterprise Server initiates outbound, bidirectional connections to the wireless network. To support BlackBerry in an environment with a firewall in place, you must configure the firewall to enable the computers running the BlackBerry Enterprise Server within the company to initiate TCP/IP connections to an outside server listening on port If you use a proxying firewall, the proxy must be transparent. 4 BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Readme file

Note: A transparent proxy does NOT modify requests or responses through the proxy during proxy authentication and identification, whereas a non-transparent proxy (where the client specifies the hostname and port number of the proxy) IS used to modify requests or responses through the proxy. If you have a non-transparent proxy, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server can be configured to access an internal proxy address which is then translated externally to the SRP Host on port Please verify that your firewall is configured to accommodate these types of outbound-initiated connections bidirectionally. Preinstallation requirements The following procedures are required before you can begin installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software. 1. Installing and registering a CDO hotfix 2. Defining a service account and setting its permissions 3. Preparing to create a MAPI profile 4. Installing database software Installing and registering a CDO hotfix Note: The CDO.dll supplied with Microsoft Outlook does not enable wireless calendar synchronization. (BlackBerry Desktop Software 3.0, a European release, does not support wireless calendar synchronization.) You must install the CDO.dll hotfix (on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service computer) and the correct administration tool (Microsoft Exchnage System Manager or Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Administrator) to have the correct CDO and MAPI versions. 1. Verify you are logged on to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server computer as the Administrator. 2. If Microsoft Outlook is currently installed, remove it. 3. If you have not already done so, copy the CDO.dll hotfix to C:/winnt/system32/. 4. Manually register the CDO.dll hotfix using one of the following methods: a) At the command prompt (C:/winnt/system32/), type the following: regsvr32 cdo.dll b) Select Start> Run. 6 Defining a service account and setting its permissions You must define an administration service account and mailbox. The administration service account acts as your BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account, and requires permissions. If you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management, Mobile Data Service, and BlackBerry User Administration, the service accounts for those tools also require permissions. You can use the same administration service account for multiple tools installed on the same computer. If you are installing with Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Your BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account requires the following Windows NT/2000 permissions: Log on locally with local permissions: (This is optional, but useful for troubleshooting - if you prefer, you can remove this after install). This permission should be set by default Log on as a service: This permission should be set automatically when you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Verify that it is set. AND the following Microsoft Exchange site permissions Service Account Admin. permissions on the Site container and Configuration container AND Local administrator permissions on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service computer Your BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management service account requires the following Microsoft Exchange site permissions Service Account Admin. permissions on the Site container and Configuration container AND Local administrator permissions on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service computer and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management computer (these might be the same computer) Note: The service account used by Mobile Data Service to access the database (the BlackBerrry Enterprise Server Management service account), requires read/write access on the database. Your BlackBerry User Administration service account requires the following Microsoft Exchange site permissions 6 BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Readme file

Service Account Admin. permissions on the Site container and Configuration container AND Local administrator permissions on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service computer and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management computer (these might be the same computer) If you are installing with Microsoft Exchange 2000 Your BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account requires the following Windows 2000 and Microsoft Exchange 2000 permissions: Log on locally with local permissions: (This is optional, but useful for troubleshooting - if you prefer, you can remove this after install). This permission should be set by default. Log on as a service: This permission should be set automatically when you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Verify that it is set. Local administrator permissions on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service computer Microsoft Exchange View Only Administrator (minimum) access at the Administrative Groups level in Microsoft Exchange 2000 to be able to read from the Active Directory. Microsoft Exchange Administer Information store, set at the Mailbox store level or the Microsoft Exchange server level (to write information to the administration service account mailbox) Your BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management service account requires the following Windows 2000 and Microsoft Exchange 2000 permissions: Log on locally with local permissions: (This is optional, but useful for troubleshooting - if you prefer, you can remove this after install). This permission should be set by default Log on as a service: This permission should be set automatically when you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Verify that it is set. 8 Your BlackBerry User Administration service account requires the following Windows 2000 and Microsoft Exchange 2000 permissions: Log on as a service: This permission should be set automatically if you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server on the same computer as BlackBerry User Administration. Verify that it is set. Local administrator permissions on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service computer and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management computer (these might be the same computer) Microsoft Exchange View Only Administrator (minimum) access at the Administrative Groups level in Microsoft Exchange 2000 to be able to read from the Active Directory. Receive as permissions within the Microsoft Exchange routing group Note: A user running the BlackBerry User Administration client does not need any permissions. The setting of these permissions is detailed in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Installation and Getting Started Guide and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Installation and Getting Started Guide. Preparing to create a MAPI profile You must create a MAPI profile to be used by each of the service accounts you created, which may include a BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account, a BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management service account, and a BlackBerry User Administration service account. (The same account can be used for all of these tools.) You can create separate MAPI profiles for each tool, or you can use one MAPI profile for all tools. The MAPI profile(s) can point to the same BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration mailbox. The following procedure verifies that you will be able to create the MAPI profile(s) during the installation of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management, and BlackBerry User Administration. 1. Verify that the MAPI subsystem is initialized by opening either Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Administrator or Microsoft Exchange 2000 System Manager. 2. Open the Tools folder on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software CD. 3. Run the fixmapisvc.exe utility from the command prompt and specify the mapisvc.inf file as follows: "fixmapisvc.exe c:\winnt\system32\mapisvc.inf". A DOS screen will appear briefly onscreen. The mapisvc.inf file is automatically installed under C:/winnt/system32/. 8 BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Readme file

Installing database software One of the following database tools must be installed if you want to host the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management database on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server: MSDE, SQL 7.0, or SQL If you do not have a copy of SQL 7.0 or SQL 2000 you can obtain a copy of MSDE from Research In Motion (download MSDE.zip from: MSDE can also be installed directly from the Microsoft Office 2000 Developer CD-ROM. Refer to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Installation and Getting Started Guide or the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Installation and Getting Started Guide for details. Installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server 2.1 Service Pack 1 Warning: Before you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server, temporarily disable any "watchdog" agents (for example, BMC Patrol,NetIQ,Tivoli,or HP OpenManage) that are currently monitoring the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, before proceeding with the installation of this Service Pack. Typically, a "watchdog" agent is used to restart services that may stop during normal operation. If you are running a "watchdog" agent, and you do not disable it, it may restart the BlackBerry service without warning during the install process, causing unpredictable results. To perform an initial BlackBerry Enterprise Server install with Microsoft Exchange 5.5 or Microsoft Exchange 2000, the following tasks are required: 1. Complete preinstallation requirements: Installing and registering a CDO hotfix Defining a service account and setting its permissions Preparing to create a MAPI profile Installing database software 2. Select BlackBerry Server and select Stop to stop the BlackBerry Server service. Select BES Alert and select Stop to stop the BlackBerry Server service. 4. If you have just removed Microsoft Outlook, install Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Service Pack 4 on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (or reinstall if it is already present). 5. Before upgrading BlackBerry Enterprise Server, install the CDO.dll hotfix. Note: The CDO.dll supplied with Microsoft Outlook does not enable wireless calendar synchronization. 10 BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Readme file

6. Manually register the CDO.dll hotfix using one of the following methods: a) At the command prompt (C:/winnt/system32/), type the following: regsvr32 cdo.dll b) Select Start > Run. In the Run dialog, in the Open field, type: regsvr32 cdo.dll 7. If Microsoft Outlook (97, 98, or 2000) is installed on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, a warning message appears that Microsoft Outlook should be removed before proceeding with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server install. Remove Microsoft Outlook now. Note: If Microsoft Outlook is present on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server machine, wireless calendar synchronization will not work because Microsoft Outlook s versions of CDO and MAPI DLLs do not support wireless calendar synchronization. (BlackBerry Desktop Software 3.0, a European release, does not support wireless calendar synchronization.) If Microsoft Outlook is opened on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, it will attempt to overwrite the MAPI system. Thus, Microsoft Outlook on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server is an unsupported configuration. 8. Insert the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software CD into the CD-ROM drive of the computer that will run BlackBerry Enterprise Server. In the root directory of the CD-ROM drive, run Setup.exe. The first screen of the upgrade InstallShield Wizard appears. For further information on installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software, please see the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software for Microsoft Exchange Installation and Getting Started Guide provided on your BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software installation CD (open Root_directory:\bes.pdf). Installing with Microsoft Small Business Server Warning: You can install MSDE, SQL 7.0 or SQL 2000 manually or, when you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management, if you do not have MSDE installed, the InstallShield Wizard will offer to install it at that time. However, when installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server on a Microsoft Small Business Server (MSBS) 2000 system, the MSDE software that ships with the product will not install and returns no error messages. In this situation you can use one of the following two solutions. Solution 1 1. Install the MSDE 2000 that ships with MSBS This software can be found on CD 2 in the \SQL2000\MSDE directory. 2. Run setup.exe SECURITYMODE=SQL. You can now install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Software. This will allow the software to correctly create the database for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management. BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Readme file 11

Details By default, when run on the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system, the Desktop Engine Setup configures the installed instance of Microsoft SQL Server to use Windows Authentication, and places the Windows local administrator's group in the SQL Server sysadmin fixed server role. When running Desktop Engine Setup on the Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 operating system, you can specify a SECURITYMODE=SQL parameter to have the installed instance configured to use SQL Server Authentication with a null sa password. If the MSDE 2000 software has been installed previously, the Security model can be changed by editing the following registry key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSSqlserver\MSSqlServer\LoginMode The default for this key is "1" to enable integrated security. Changing this key to "2" will change the server security setting to "mixed" and allow the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to create the database. Solution 2 If the MSDE software has already been installed and the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software setup has been run, the database can be recreated following these steps: 1. After setting the security mode as specified above, open the Createdb.sql file located in \Program Files\Research in Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management\Database\. 2. This file specifies c:\mssql7\data\, as the default path for the database data directory. 3. This has to be changed to: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\. 4. Once the file has been modified, open a command prompt and change to the \Program Files\Research in Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management\Database\ directory. 5. Run Createdb.exe from the command line. Once this has completed you will receive the following message: Database setup complete. Check the setup.txt for any sql messages. You can now install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server as you would on any Microsoft Exchange 2000 system. Details The setup.txt file should look like this: Starting the database creation script Creating the database now The CREATE DATABASE process is allocating 1.00 MB on disk 'BESMgmt'. The CREATE DATABASE process is allocating 1.00 MB on disk 'BESMgmtLog'. Creating the tables 12 BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Readme file

Adding error messages to the database Creating the stored procedures in the database Finished setting up the stored procedures Post-installation requirements Procedures to be completed after you have installed the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software include: Installing the administration extensions (optional, for Microsoft Exchange 5.5 only) Configuring the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Starting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services You should perform these steps in the order in which they appear in this document.
