1 Page 1 of 24 SUBJECT: Allison DOC V Subscription Service MODELS AFFECTED: All 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 Series Product Families, 5000, 6000, 8000, 9000 Series Transmissions, and MT(B) 600, CL(B)T, V, HT(B) 700 Series Transmissions, TC10 Transmissions and H 40/50 EP TM System SERIAL NUMBERS AFFECTED: All Introduction: In April 2018, Allison Transmission, Inc. will be releasing yearly subscription service Allison DOC V This version represents the latest PC diagnostic tool for use with 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 Series Product Families; 5000, 6000, 8000, 9000 Off-Highway Series Transmissions; electronically controlled MT(B) 600, CL(B)T, V, HT(B) 700 Series Transmissions; TC10 Transmissions; and the H 40/50 EP TM System. Allison Transmission, Inc. requires all current Authorized Allison Distributor and Dealer Service locations to upgrade to Allison DOC V which incorporates new features and enhancements discussed below. Allison DOC V Subscription Service Overview: Allison DOC V will be available by downloaded file or USB thumb drive for new users. All new users of the program will need to authorize the product with the new license key received with Allison DOC V If a version earlier than V2017.x of Allison DOC exists on the PC, please uninstall before installing V Existing Allison DOC V2017.x Subscription service users will automatically be prompted to download V An additional license or payment is not required. New features, enhancements, essential tool status, purchasing information, PC platform requirements, and translator device support for Allison DOC V are some of the topics described in this Service Tip (ST). Technicians who are unsure of the correct protocol should select SmartConnect or try J1708 last. Updates specific to Allison DOC Premium (H 40/50 EP TM ): Updates 4th/5th Generation Troubleshooting Manual Essential Tool Status: Allison DOC Premium and/or Allison DOC Premium (H 40/50 EP TM ) V have been classified as an ESSENTIAL TOOL for facilities authorized as Maintenance/Overhaul/Service Outlets for one or more of the following transmission families/models: 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 Product Families 5000, 6000, 8000, 9000 Off-Highway Series TC10 H 40/50 EP TM System Service outlets currently enrolled in the Essential Tool program will receive the Global Tool notification letter with information about the release of this new version of the service tool. Allison DOC USB thumb drive is shipped with a trifold Job Aid Card (JA6018EN) that provides a Quick Reference Guide and Connection Diagrams. Users of Allison DOC also have access to a User Guide and Advanced Help Videos (available from Help menu and icons). These sources of information will provide the user with the necessary guidelines to install, utilize, and manipulate the software application. Please regularly check the and look for information that could clarify common questions/concerns with respect to the different Allison Transmission diagnostic tools. Updates:

4 Page 4 of 24 The Allison DOC application includes a feature that allows the user to check for and download available updates by connecting (via the internet) to a tool update server. Due to constant ECU/TCM calibration enhancements, it is important to regularly check for Allison DOC updates to ensure proper tool functionality. During active subscription service, Allison DOC updates will be pushed to user s machines. Users may defer up to 30 days when launching Allison DOC before accepting a patch. After this time has elapsed, the user must accept the update to continue use of the Allison DOC tool. Reprogramming Information: Allison DOC is the only Allison authorized reprogramming tool. No other diagnostic tools shall be used to reprogram Allison Transmission controllers. Refer to SIL 28-TR-04_Rev A for detailed information on this topic. The Allison DOC Diagnostic Tool Training program, or equivalent, has to be completed in order to activate the Reprogramming function. Reprogramming can be automatically enabled by entering your E-Learn ID and E-Learn Password on the DOC Activation Notice. If the automatic process does not work or a user does not have an E-Learn account, appropriate proof of certification will need to be submitted to Noregon (along with the Product Serial Number displayed by navigating to the Software Configuration Reprogramming menu item from Allison DOC ) to activate the Reprogramming function of the service tool. PC Platform Definition: Allison DOC V has only been tested and validated on PCs with the following configurations: Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Windows 10 with the latest service packs installed. NOTE: Support for Microsoft Windows 8 is no longer available. NOTE: Allison DOC V requires the.net 3.5 Framework which is not installed by default for Windows 10. The.NET 3.5 Framework may have already been installed on a given machine by another application; if not, an active Internet connection or the Windows 10 installation media will be needed in order to install the.net 3.5 Framework and successfully complete the Allison DOC V installation. NOTE: In order to install and run Allison DOC V2018.1, the user must have full administrator privileges with the User Account Control feature turned OFF. At least 3 GB of free space is required to install the program (after software installation, the operating system requires sufficient free hard disk space to run the program). Additional free space may be needed for Advanced Help Training Videos Pentium IV class processor 2 GHz or faster recommended 4 GB of RAM system memory or greater recommended

Translator Device Support: Noregon Wireless/USB Translator All Allison Products This is the essential-rated translator device for the Allison Transmission Service Tools and is recommended for Allison DOC V NOTE: Allison DOC V install gives the option to automatically install V of the DLAWIR32 drivers; however, it is recommended to visit the Noregon JPRO Fleet Products website to obtain information on the latest version of the DLAWIR32 drivers for the Noregon Wireless/USB Translator All Allison Products. Driver: DLAWIR32 The USB drive or download image (unzipped) contain a folder Noregon DLA+ Wireless Drivers with the translator s driver install program The translator kit can be purchased at Supported Communication Protocols used by Allison transmissions: CEC, J1708/J1587, J1939, CAN, GMLAN and J1850. OBD II cables are required for GMLAN and J1850 communications and an OBDI cable is required for CEC transmissions. These cables are not included in the Kit for Noregon USB Translator All Allison Products, but are available for purchase from Noregon Systems The J cable is needed when bench programming TCMs whose harnesses do not have a 9-pin connector, such as the WTEC II, WTEC III, and Pre-4th Generation 1K/2K TCMs. This cable is available for purchase from Bosch Automotive Service Solutions Allison DOC V was also tested and validated with the following translator devices: Noregon Wireless/USB Translator - All Allison Products

For availability contact: DG Technologies The DG-DPA5-OBDII-CABLE Cable is required for GMLANand J1850 communications. This cable is not included in the DPA5 Dual CAN package, but is available for purchase from DG Technologies. A folder containing these drivers is also included with the install. The DG drivers (available on the J DPA4 Plus installation CD) will not work with any of the Allison Transmission service tools. NOTE: Computers operating on a corporate network may need network administrator assistance to configure the Proxy Server settings in Allison DOC to allow online activations. Upon completing the Allison DOC Version installation, the application must be activated in order to continue its use. Activation can be accomplished as follows: 1. Internet activation is required a. The user connects the PC to the internet. b. Starts Allison DOC c. Enters Customer Information. Fields with red text are mandatory d. Enters Subscription Licenses and selects the Activate Subscriptions button. The user receives the Activation Confirmation screen e. User receives Allison DOC Subscription Confirmation from support@noregon.com (sent to address provided in Customer Information field) with confirmation code f. Enters confirmation code and selects the Activate button. The software is now ready to be used.

Activation Confirmation Download and Installation Procedures for existing Subscription users: When Allison DOC is launched after V is released, the user will be notified of an updated version. The user will have 30 days to accept the mandatory update. After 30 days, the user must accept the update in order to continue use of the Allison DOC tool. An additional license or payment is not required for current subscriptions. When the user chooses to accept the update, the user will be provided the Allison DOC v Link and instructions:

14 Page 14 of 24 The user can select the Close button to close the update window after the link is downloaded. When the user chooses to run AllisonDOCv exe, the WinZip Self-Extractor will run. Select Setup and accept the license agreement, then follow the Setup Wizard prompts to install. This is a major install and may take a lengthy period to download and run. Activation: After installing DOC , when Allison DOC is launched, the user s current license is displayed on the Reactivation form. While connected to the Internet, select the Reactivate button:

15 Page 15 of 24 There are two additional ways to download and install Allison DOC V2018.1: 1. Update Application feature - From the Allison DOC V2017.x main menu, select Software Configuration. Then, select the Update Application tab, click on button, and follow the instructions on the screen. Depending on the internet communication system, this process may take several minutes. 2. Go directly to the Allison DOC download page, and select the Download Allison DOC v button. Reactivation: Once Allison DOC Version has been installed and activated, periodic reactivation of the application is required. For PCs that are routinely online, reactivation is carried out over the Internet as a background task when the application is running. Therefore, the application will remain active simply through regular use. For PCs without Internet access, reactivation will be required within each 60-day period. As the deadline for reactivation approaches, the application will display a reactivation screen. The first reminder will occur 15 days prior to the deadline. User must reactivate over the Internet to continue use. All Allison DOC Version products, including the Fleet licenses, have a 60-day reactivation period.

16 Page 16 of 24 Subscription Renewal: The subscription period is 365 days, and begins on the date of purchase. At time of purchase, licenses will be enrolled in an automatic renewal program and users will not need to return to the web store to extend their license for an additional period. With a downloaded Allison DOC, if you need the Job Aid immediately, we have posted both the Allison DOC V and the previous version as a PDF to download. If you wish to order the Job Aid for either the new or previous version, visit the Allison Publication web store Please note that the Allison DOC V Job Aid provides proper connection of the Noregon Wireless/USB translator 2.0. If you are using a previously purchased translator, please refer to previous Job Aid for proper connection (JA3434EN). The Noregon Wireless/USB translator 2.0 has been selected as the new essential tool and is capable of servicing all Allison products. With the selection of a new essential tool some people have questioned if this would require them to replace their existing translator. The answer is NO. The Translator Device Support: section of this ST provides a list of all translators that have been fully tested for compatibility with Allison DOC V

19 Page 19 of 24 Attachment D Pricing for Channel or Non-Channel: NOTE: There is an additional $40 charge for the USB Option over the Download Option. The Allison DOC tool pricing model will be changing with V subscription service. With the new subscription service, Allison DOC Premium & Allison DOC Premium (H 40/50 EP TM ) will have an initiation fee for new subscription service registrants, which is outlined in Table 1. After the first-year initiation fee, there will be a renewal fee for subsequent years, which is outlined in Table 2. In conjunction with the move to a subscription service, the Allison DOC Fleets and Allison DOC Fleets (FuelSense ) Tools combine the 1000/2000 Series and 3000/4000 Series software into one product. The volume pricing break points have been adjusted, as detailed in Table 3 and Table 4. Distributors and Dealers are not required to acquire the Fleets version license. The OEM special price is extended to OEMs who use Allison DOC for end-of-line checkout and Technical Schools who use Allison DOC for training purposes only. Proper paperwork and signatures must be submitted to be granted special pricing as detailed in Table 5. Product Table 1. When installing as a DOWNLOAD you will be required to: Installation Tips Allison DOC V For Microsoft Internet Explorer users, disable Pop-up blockers by selecting the Tools menu item and then Pop-up Blocker. If Turn Off Pop-up Blocker appears, select that item. If Turn On Pop-up blocker appears, you do not need to change the setting. NOTE: Disabling Pop-up Blockers may differ depending on operating system. AND/OR 2. Establish Trusted Sites. This setting will allow websites that you trust as safe (such as websites that are on your organization's intranet or websites from established companies in whom you have confidence). When you add a website to the Trusted Sites zone, you believe that files you download or that you run from the website will not damage your computer or data. By default, there are no websites that are assigned to the Trusted Sites zone, and the security level is set to Low. 3. Make sure that you are connected to a reliable power source, not batteries, during the download. 4. Shut Down other applications during the download and installation. 5. When downloading, this may take in excess of 1 hour depending on connection speed. We strongly advise you NOT to attempt a Download if on Dial-Up connection.
