4 Introduction The Data Logger Soft KDL-01 (=KDL-01) is data logger for any KETT measuring instruments. The KDL-01 pastes a measurement data by the KETT measuring instrument on Microsoft Excel by the automatic operation, with the personal computer (=PC) that operates Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP / Vista. * Please see each operating manual, about the PC operation, the operating system operation (= OS, Microsoft Windows 2000 / XP / Vista), and or the other software operation ( Microsoft Excel). * In this operating manual, there are the operations and the illustrations of Windows XP. Please operate the OS according to an individual manual excluding the special note, on Windows 2000 and Vista. * Correspondence Kett products. L Essential Software : Excel 2000 / 2002 / 2003 / 2007 Microsoft Corporation recommended operating system requirements. * If the volume of measurement result data to be handled is large,we recommend increasing your PC memory. * The combination of the OS and the essential software will depend on the OS supporting that software. 4

5 Packages Check your KDL-01 Software Package for the following items. M1 CD-ROM M1 Operating manual (This book) M1 PC connection cable M1 Sub manual (Connect information) * USB-RS232C converter (Option) This program has been checked the operation only with serial port (=RS-232C port) of the PC connecting directly or with the option USB-RS232C converter. If your PC does not have a connectable RS-232C port directly, please use this option converter. When other converters are used, we do not guarantee the operation. Notes 1. KETT ELECTRIC LABORATORY has the copyright of KDL-01 and that hangs to this product and other rights. 2. It is impossible to reproduce by using part or all of this software and the manual without permission. 3. This software can be installed in one personal computer by single-unit (=one license). When using it with two or more personal computers, please buy the license for the number of the personal computer that installs it. 4. The screen and the file composition used in this book might be actually different. 5. The specification of this software and the content described in the manual might change without a previous notice in the future. 6. Install Notes * If you use the optional USB-RS232C converter, please do not connect the USB-RS232C converter with PC until the driver's installation is completed. * Please operate the installation software with log on manager s group account. (Recommend; account of administrator's group) * If the dialog User account control (Vista) or Install program as other user (2000/XP) is displayed while install operation, the installation cannot be completed even if the information is input. First of all, log off from PC, and try to reinstall after log on by the manager s account. L KDL-01 Install 1. Startup Windows. 2. Insert the KDL-01 CD-ROM. * It is necessary to end all other applications. 3. Double click [CD drive] in My Computer. 4. Click [SetupKDL]. 6

7 5. Click [Next] on SetupKDL dialog. 6. Click [Next]. * When you will install to different folder, you can change to different folder. 7. Click [Next]. * When you need shortcut on desktop, click checkbox to cheku on. 8. Click [Finish]. 7

8 L USB-RS232C converter (Option) Install Install the USB-RS232C converter driver using the following method. Notes * When the computer has RS-232C port of connecting directly, it is not necessary to install it. 1. Double click [CD drive] in My Computer. 2. Double click [SETUP] in UCT_driver folder. 3. Click [Next]. 8

9 4. Click [Next]. 5. Click [Finish]. * Please restart your PC before using. 9

10 L Connect measuring instrument to PC As for the connection of the measuring instrument and PC, the connection method is different according to the measuring instrument. Please see the attached paper Connecting the measuring instrument to your computer. Notes * When the PC does not have any RS-232C port, the optional USB-RS232C converter is necessary for our specifications. L Connect USB-RS232C converter : first time * When you connect the option USB-RS232C converter at first time, please operate the installation software with log on manager s group account. (Recommend; account of administrator's group) * If you connect the option USB-RS232C converter to your PC before installing the driver, a dialog will be displayed requesting you to install the driver. Please, disconnect the USB-RS232C converter and install the driver first. (See P.8 [ L USB-RS232C converter (Option) Install]) * The following dialogs are displayed when the converter is connected, first time. And the installation work makes progress by the automatic operation. The RS-232C port number is display according to OS that operates by your PC, please remember the displayed the serial port number. * Refer to look up at the RS-232C port number to P

11 2. Operate KDL-01 L KDL-01 Window function button A status bar A Button name Open Rev Function Open the excel file. (New excel file or past excel file of measurement result saved.) Click [Rev], and receive measurement data. With AN-800 / RN-500 / RN-600, Click [Rev] and measurement start automatically. function button Stop Save Receiving cancel. Save the excel file. Set Select the measuring instrument and RS-232C Port. Exit Exit KDL-01 L Status bar RS-232C port (=com port) Number and the name of KETT measuring instrument that has been selected is displayed here. 11

12 L Start KDL-01 * The measuring instrument and PC are connected by using the connecting cable, beforehand. (Please see the attached paper Connecting the measuring instrument to your computer.) * Please set beforehand when the PC connection setup is necessary in the connected measuring instrument. (Please see the earch operating manual of measuring instrument.) 1. Turn on your PC and start up Windows. 2. Double Click ( ) KDLExcel on desktop. * If no shortcut on desktop, click [KETT] [KDLExcel] on program group. 12

13 L Setting KDL Click [Set]. KETT PRODUCT TYPE The measuring instrument connected with PC. COMMUNICATION PORT Communication port (Com) number with the connecting cable. * Refer to look up at the RS-232C port number to P Click [OK]. 13

14 L Data Transmission and saving 1. Click [Open]. 2. If EXCEL file open Or new creation dialog is displayed, select an existing file or input the new filename, and click [Open]. * Please, separate excel file on each measuring instrument. 14

If [Rev] is clicked, it becomes possible the data reception from the measuring instrument. * When [Rev] is clicked, AN-800, RN-500, and RN-600 begin the measurement of the automatic operation. 4. When the measuring data is received from the measuring instrument, it is output to the excel work-sheet by the automatic operation. * When the reception is canceled, click [Stop]. 5. If excel work-sheet will be saved, click [Save] excel menu. or Select [Save] on L End of KDL-01 Click [Exit]. 15

16 3. Uninstall (Remove) Notes * Please operate the uninstallation software with log on manager s group account. (Recommend; account of administrator s group) * If uninstall cannot be selected, or the dialog User account control (Vista) or Install program as other user (2000/XP) is displayed while uninstall operation, the uninstallation cannot be completed even if the information is input. First of all, log off from PC, and try to log on by the manager s account. Uninstall KDL-01 Notes * We will recommend the backup of the measurement data etc. to be reserved before this operation. 1. Select [Control Panel] in start menu. * If you operate Windows 2000, please select [start] [settings] [Control Panel] 2. Double click [Add or Remove Programs]. * If you operate Windows 2000, please select [Add / Remove Programs]. If you operate Windows Vista, please select [Programs and Features]. 16

17 3. Select [KETT KDL-01], and click [Remove] or [Change/Remove]. * If you operate Windows Vista, please select [KETT KDL-01], and click [Uninstall/Change]. If User account control is displayed, select [Continue]. 4. Click [Yes]. 5. Click [Close]. 17

18 Uninstall USB-RS232C Converter cable driver 1. Please operate same operation from P.16 (1) to (2). 2. Select [U232 P9/P25 V7.2.98] and Click [Remove]. * If you operate Windows Vista, please select [U232 P9/P25 V7.2.98], and click [Uninstall]. If User account control is displayed, select [Continue]. 3. Click [OK]. Uninstalling will start. 4. Click [Finish]. 18

19 4. Reference How to search serial port (RS-232C) number; (COM number) 1. Select [Control Panel] in start menu. * If you operate Windows 2000, please select [start] [settings] [Control Panel]. 2. Double click [System]. * Please make the control panel not the category view but a classic view on Windows XP and Windows Vista. 3. Click [Device Manager]. 19

20 4. In a right example, the direct connect RS-232C port is one, because it is displayed [Communication Port (COM1)]. And, the RS-232C port of USB- RS232C converter is four, because it is displayed [Serial On USB Port (COM4)]. * The name of the USB-RS232C conversion cable (option) is Serial On USB Port. When ( ) is here, the installation is not correctly completed or the configuration file is broken. Try to see P.8, and to install it again. 20

21 L RN-500 Submenu The kind of the data put on Excel can be selected when connecting with RN-500. It right-clicks on the KDL window, and selects it while having been displayed. * The setting of RN-500 cannot be changed from KDL. L RN-600 Submenu 1. The content of RN-600 set can be confirmed. It right-clicks on the KDL window, and RN-600 setting information is selected. * The setting of RN-600 cannot be changed from KDL. 2. The kind of the data put on Excel can be selected when connecting with RN-600. It right-clicks on the KDL window, and selects it while having been displayed. 21

22 L Troubleshooting Trouble Check Point Data is not putted on EXCEL. or 1. Please conf i rm whether the selected RS-232C ports corresponding to the connected port. (See P.19) 2. Please confirm whether PC is connected to measureing instrument connecting cable. or 3. Please confirm whether the kind of the connecting cable is suitable for the connected measuring instrument. 22
