1 CMS Badge Creation (Rev 2014) The following instructions are intended to guide you through the creation of a badge through a software solution known as WebID. 1. Verify that all USB cables from the printer and camera are connected to the computer. Log into the local PC (or laptop) using the following Username & Password: Username: PCNAME /Bridgeway NOTE: Replace PCNAME in the example above with the actual PC name on the computer (drop the quotation marks; they re not needed in the actual username). The PC name will usually be found on a white label attached to the PC or laptop. If you cannot find the PC name, please contact the CMS HR/IT Help Desk for assistance. Password: Bridgeway NOTE: The password may have been set up differently in your school. First, try Bridgeway (with a capital B. If that does not get you logged into the computer, try bridgeway (with a lower case b ). If neither password gets you logged in, please contact the CMS HR/IT Help Desk for assistance. 2. Once logged in, open Internet Explorer. It is important to note that only Internet Explorer will work (version 9 or lower). Firefox, Chrome, etc. will not work with WebID. 3. When prompted, enter cmssites\" followed by your normal network username in the username field, and your normal password in the password field, make sure you enter a "\" after cmssites it should look like cmssite\xxxxxxx.xxxxxxx example cmssites\john1.doe 5. 3 6. To create badge for existing student, click on Search by Student under the CMS Schools Student menu. After clicking on the Search by Student link, you will be directed to the following page: 7. On this page, enter either the Student Number, Last Name, or First Name into the search fields. If you don t know the exact spelling of a name, the character % can be used as a wildcard search. For example, searching W% in the Last Name field will return all students in the school with a last name beginning with W. Do not use a wildcard in the Student Number field, as this will result in an error. You must select the appropriate school from the School drop down menu, then click on GO. 4 8. After clicking on GO, you will see a page listing the search results for your particular query, such as the one below: 9. Click on the row of the record for which you want to print a badge. 10. You will then be directed to a record detail page. Here, you will see a Photo field that looks like the following: 11. Of the two icons on the left of the frame, click the rightmost one. This will bring up a source selection menu. If using a Microsoft webcam to capture images, make sure the source is selected as Video for Windows (Fast). If using a Video Associates Labs Z100 camera (a black rectangular camera with flash), make sure that the source is selected as TWAIN2 (Fast). 12. After selecting the source, click on the small camera icon in the left corner of the IMAGE field. This will bring up a window showing a live feed from the camera. Align the subject in the center of the image field. If using a Microsoft webcam, take the image by clicking Take Photo in the upper right corner of the window. If the image is acceptable, click on OK. If using a Z100 camera, click Capture at the bottom of the screen. If the resultant image is acceptable, click on Save at the bottom of the page. 5 13. You will now see the image you took with an opportunity to crop. You will see a dotted line rectangle overlaid on top of the image. Click and drag on any of the corners of this rectangle to resize it and click and drag in the center of the rectangle to move. Once the appropriate portion of the image is cropped, click on OK to save the image. 14. On the right hand side of the screen, there will be a Tool menu that looks like the following: 15. Click on SAVE to save the taken photo into the database. NOTE: You may not see the photo displayed in the IMAGE field until you click on SAVE. Before printing, make sure that there are blank cards inserted into the card hopper. Then, click on PRINT to print the badge. A printer selection menu will then appear. If using an SP25 model printer (the blue and white model), make sure the printer is selected as Datacard Printer. If using a CD800 model printer (the black and silver model), make sure that XPS Card Printer is selected as the printer. Click on OK and the badge will begin to print. 16. To print staff badges, follow the same procedure but click on Search by Staff on the landing page. Page 5 of 8 Bridgeway Solutions, Inc. 2014

6 17. To create a badge for a Staff Member that isn t in the database, simply click on Staff Information under the NEW heading. You will be directed to the following page: New STAFF Information 18. Enter all the appropriate student information and take a photo in the same method as above. Then, click on INSERT under the TOOLS menu to insert the new record into the database. You may then print the badge in the same method as above. PRINT RIBBON REPLACEMENT A WORD OF CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE THE RFID TAG/CAP FROM THE PRINT RIBBON SPOOL. REMOVING THE TAG WILL CAUSE THE PRINT RIBBON TO MALFUNCTION IN THE PRINTER! RFID TAG/CAP DO NOT REMOVE FROM PRINT RIBBON! Page 6 of 8 Bridgeway Solutions, Inc. 2014

7 SP25 card printer 1. To replace a print ribbon on the SP25 model printer, open the printer cover by pressing upward on the gray latch at the front of the printer and pushing the cover into an upright position. 2. Grasp the blue colored handle on the right hand side of the printer and lift upwards. The caddy will lift out of the printer without any resistance. 3. While holding the caddy, grasp either spool of the print ribbon and pull away from the caddy. The spool will come free with little resistance. Repeat this with the other spool. Discard the used ribbon. 4. Remove the new ribbon from the ribbon kit box and take off the plastic wrapping. Place the empty spool of the new ribbon on the back prong of the caddy until it is in place. 5. Gently pull back on the full spool to remove the tape and place the spool on the front prong of the caddy in a similar fashion. 6. Turn the rear spool to remove any slack in the ribbon, and place the caddy back into the printer, verifying that the caddy slides in smoothly and fits snugly. 7. Close the printer cover. CD800 card printer 1. To replace a print ribbon on the CD800 model printer, open the printer cover by pressing on the gray oval button on the top of the printer. Spring pressure will force the cover into an upright position. 2. Grasp the black ridged plastic piece and lift upward. The caddy will lift out of the printer without any resistance. 3. While holding the caddy, grasp either spool of the print ribbon and pull away from the caddy. The spool will come free with little resistance. Repeat this with the other spool. Discard the used ribbon. 4. Remove the new ribbon from the ribbon kit box and take off the plastic wrapping. Place the empty spool of the new ribbon on the back prong of the caddy until it is in place. 5. Gently pull back on the full spool to remove the tape and place the spool on the front prong of the caddy in a similar fashion. 6.
