Introduction The ValVue ESD family contains three applications, ValVue ESD, PRM Central ValVue ESD, PRM PLUG-IN ValVue ESD and ESDVue which is a common library. Standalone edition The standalone application connects directly to one or more devices through a HART modem or a MTL Multiplexer network. Yokogawa PRM PLUG-IN edition First, the application consists of the PRM Central ValVue ESD. It is the ValVue ESD service that monitors all registered Masoneilan, type 203 devices (SVI II ESD) known by the PRM server. It automatically retrieves and saves the Partial Stroke Tests (PST) results for all devices to the ValVue ESD central database. This functionality ensures the results in the database are logged no matter how the PST test is triggered (locally, remotely, schedule, handheld, analog, etc). It also provides for a snap-shot of the PST schedules and health of all SVI II ESD devices. PRM PLUG-IN ValVue ESD This is the ValVue ESD application that will launch as the PLUG-IN for Masoneilan s SVI II ESD device (type 203) from the PRM UI. It also provides for a snap-shot of the PST schedules and health of all SVI II ESD devices. ESDVue This is the user friendly dialog (or session) that is launched from ValVue ESD (PLUG-IN or standalone). It allows the user to access all HART features available from the device including status, diagnostics, configuration, calibration, etc. It also allows the user to access and graph historical data saved to the database for all devices contained in the database. 3

A dialog box will appear to inform you how many days are left on the trial period as shown in Figure 15. At the end of the trial period the application will no longer run without registering. 14

Figure 14 Standalone Registration Dialog Figure 15 Standalone Trial Period Information ValVue ESD Standalone comes configured for a HART modem connected to COM1. If your configuration differs from this, you will need to change the ValVue ESD options. The connection options can be changed by selecting Tools/Set Options from the main menu. Please note that it may take several seconds for ValVue ESD to resolve that there is no device present if this is the incorrect configuration because of the wait time and retries that ValVue ESD employs to ensure reliable HART communication. If ValVue ESD connects with a device, it will include it in the device list. Selecting this device from the list or double-clicking on it will launch ESDVue and allow you to view and initiate all the features provided by the SVI II ESD and ValVue ESD. 15

Launching PRM Central ValVue ESD PRM Central ValVue ESD is intended to run as a service on the PRM server machine, but it can be launched directly by double-clicking the PRM Central ValVue ESD icon that was installed on the desktop. (The application will prevent more than one instance from running on the computer.) The service will start automatically after the computer restarts. PRM Central ValVue ESD requires registration to run, but comes with a free, fully functional 60-day trial period. Until the application is registered, the dialog box shown in Figure 16 will appear when the application is started whether as service or from the desktop. Enter the information to register or just hit enter to run unregistered. A dialog box will appear to inform you how many days are left on the trial period as shown in Figure 17. At the end of the trial period the application will no longer run without registering. Figure 16 Central Registration Dialog 16

Figure 17 Central Trial Period Information When launched as a service, its icon, shown in Figure 18, will appear in the system tray. Double-click on the icon to see the ValVue ESD user interface. Note, that when there is no activity in the user interface for some period, the Central ValVue ESD will return to the tray. Also, if you exit the application launched as a service, it will restart automatically. To disable this feature just stop the service called XMnCloSvr using the Windows Services Management tool. Figure 18 PRM Central ValVue ESD Service Icon Using the PIA API, the application will list all devices known to the PRM server to which it is connected. By default it searches the path: CLASS:PLANT\HART\MASONEILAN. A separate license is required to monitor devices. The application comes with a free license to monitor 5 devices for a 60-day trial period. At the end of the trial period PRM Central ValVue ESD will no longer monitor the devices unless licensed. Regardless of the license, the application will support all Masoneilan Device Type 203 devices that it finds in the device list; however, those devices not covered by the license will show an icon to indicate that the device is not monitored. View the on-line help for more information about the icons that can show in the device list. Launch ESDVue to access all the features available from the device and run diagnostics for a selected valve. To do so, simply double-click on the desired valve in the valve list or select it and click on the Select button. 17

Launching PRM PLUG-IN ValVue ESD PRM PLUG-IN ValVue ESD is launched from the PRM client user interface once it has been registered in the PRM and associated with a specific device as explained above. The PRM Central ValVue ESD associated with the PRM server must be running. Executing the plug-in, launches PRM PLUG-IN ValVue ESD. This automatically launches ESDVue for the selected device, provided that PRM Central ValVue ESD has been licensed for that device. The licensing restrictions described above for PRM Central ValVue ESD also apply to PRM PLUG-IN ValVue ESD. After ESDVue is exited, ESDVue can be launched for another licensed device in the device list. Startup of an SVI II ESD Calibrating If the unit was pre-installed on an actuator, it is not necessary to perform any calibrations. Proceed to the section PST to configure the device to conduct a partial stroke test. Otherwise proceed as follows: All precautions per the Quick Start Guide QS5000 must be adhered to. Per the Quick Start Guide QS5000, install the SVI II ESD on the actuator and apply electrical and air supply. Launch an ESDVue session with the connected device and go to the calibrate page. Set the mode to SETUP using the MODE button located on the bottom of the user interface. 5. Click on TOOLS -> Find Valve Stops. This procedure will fill and exhaust the actuator chamber and measure the mechanical travel. This procedure will take approximately 1 minute. 18

6. Click on TOOLS -> AUTOTUNE. This procedure will determine the tuning parameters that will be utilized to move the valve during a PST test. The values are also utilized when the SVI II ESD positions the ESD Valve in the MANUAL mode. This procedure will take approximately 3-5 minutes and may take as much as 8 minutes. If the procedure fails, click on TOOLS -> RESET TO DEFAULT to utilize the default values. 7. Set the mode back to NORMAL. Partial Stroke Test Settings 1. The settings can be modified in the NORMAL and SETUP Mode. 2. The PST settings are described in the On-Line Help. For your convenience here s a summary of the parameters: PST Travel The allowed valve movement from full Open position in percentage of travel. A typical value is 20%. Maximum allowed is 30%. The greater the travel range, the more accurate the results from the PST Test. Minimum Pressure The allowed reduction in pressure in the actuator to achieve the desired PST Travel. This value depends on the spring range and the valve/actuator hysterisis. To set this value, first, run an Extended Actuator signature from the DIAGNOSTICS PAGE. Then, locate on the Y-Axis of the signature, the X-Axis pressure value for the desired Travel target. For example, if the PST Travel is 30%, what is the pressure value to reach 70% travel. The Y-value selected must be on the upper curve of the graph. 19

Maximum Time The allowed amount of time in seconds before the PST test aborts. This value can be determined as follows: - Maximum Time = (Travel Range * 2 * PST Speed ) + Dwell Time + 5 seconds. PST Speed The valve Travel speed in % Travel per second. Dwell Time The amount of time in seconds between the down ramp and the up ramp of valve stroke. Friction Low Limit The alarm threshold for low friction. This alarm is set if the analyzed friction from the PST test is less than this value. Engineering units of pressure (PSI, kpa or BAR). Friction High Limit The alarm threshold for high friction. This alarm is set if the analyzed friction from the PST test is more than this value. Engineering units of pressure (PSI, kpa or BAR). Breakout Limit The alarm threshold for valve breakout force (force to initiate valve movement). This alarm is set if the analyzed friction from the PST test is more than this value. Engineering units of pressure (PSI, kpa or BAR). Droop Limit The alarm threshold for air supply inlet droop. This alarm is set if the analyzed Air Supply Droop from the PST test is more than this value, indicating a possible clogged up air filter in the air set or lack of volume feeding the SVI II ESD. Engineering units of pressure (PSI, kpa or BAR). 20

Freeze DO (Digital Output) Enable for the DO2 (SW#2) to not change state during a PST. Freeze AO (Analog Output) Enable for the built-in positioner transmitter to not update its output value during a PST. Enable Schedule Enable to allow execution of the Automated PST Schedules. Breakout Upper Spring Range PST Range Valve/Actuator Friction/2 Minimum Allowed Actuator Pressure During PST Launching a PST IMPORTANT: A PST CAN ONLY BE LAUNCHED WITH THE SVI II ESD DEVICE IN NORMAL MODE The SVI II ESD offers several methods to launch a PST: 1. Using ValVue ESD (PST Page) 21

2. Using the local display/pushbutton 3. Using a HART handheld device with the SVI II ESD Device Descriptor (DD) Using any HART host capable of DD services (such as SDC-625) and loaded with the SVI II ESD Device Descriptor Using the Automatic Scheduler (Calendar based, built-in the SVI II ESD) By setting the loop current to 16.4mA (77.5%). Available with ASD models and A/DSD models. Two PST s can be stored in the non-volatile memory of the SVI II ESD. This allows for ValVue ESD to synchronize its database with the data in the field. When launching the PST from ValVue ESD, the information will be automatically saved in the database at the end of the PST. If the PST is executed with the other methods described, the PST signature will remain in the non-volatile memory with a Flag indicating that ValVue ESD has not yet synchronized its database with the latest signature. The Flag will be lowered as soon as ValVue ESD connects to the device, or until the Central Lookout Service (PRM or Multiplexer operations only) scans the device. The signatures in the device are First In First Out (FIFO). Viewing a PST and its results To view a PST: 1. From ValVue ESD, right-click on the device and select View Latest PST or Historical View. From the Historical View, double-click on the X which indicates a dataset. 2. From ESDVue, go to the PST page and select the Diagnostic To Load, then Click on Load Diagn. 22

On-Line Help For more information about getting started, click on the Help button located in the lower right corner of the ValVue ESD main screen. In fact help is available for every ValVue ESD and ESDVue dialog by simply clicking on the Help button or Help menu selection, depending on the dialog. The F1 key also provides help for most active dialogs. PLUG-IN ValVue ESD warnings PRM Multi-Server Please note that because of the connection with the database and Central ValVue ESD, the Multi-Server switching feature, available on the PRM client, is not allowed. PRM PLUG-IN ValVue ESD installation folder As mentioned in installation instructions, the PLUG-IN ValVue ESD application must be installed to the same drive and folder on all machines which connect to the same PRM server. 23
