1 This document describes software installation procedure for computerized engine set ups with Sr. Nos E72 to E Add on Card The PCI-1050 (add on card) package is supplied with PCI-1050 add on card CD-ROM containing DLL driver and utility software. User manual The driver needs to be installed before installing the PCI 1050 add on card in to the system. This will help the windows to detect the card automatically. Follow following procedure for installing the Add on Card. 1A] Installing the Driver for Add on Card Insert the Dynalog CD. (The driver software is also available on Enginesoft CD under the folder name Dyna_SetupVer3.1). Depending on the OS platform select WIN98 or WIN2K or WINXP directory and Run Setup.exe. (Following steps are explained considering WINXP OS) Click Next on Dynalog Driver for Windows XP set up screen. Enter Customer Information and click Next Choose destination location for driver installation. You can select different location by clicking Browse. Click Next. Select set up type Typical and Click Next. Select existing folders Accessories on Select program folder screen and click Next After installation is complete select Yes I want to restart my computer now and Click Finish. Note that you can see the new program Dynalog driver for Windows by clicking Start All programs. When computer is restarted Shut down it for installing the PCI-1050 card. 1B] Installing the ADD on card Now after installing software driver, you can install the PCI-1050 card in any PCI slot on your computer. Follow the steps given below. 1. Turn OFF the computer before installing the card. 2. Remove the cover of the computer. 3. Discharge the static electricity charges that might be there on your body by touching the metal part on the surface of the computer. 4. Remove the slot cover on the back panel of the computer. 5. Insert the PCI-1050 card into any of the free PCI slot. Do not apply excessive force. 6. Fasten the bracket of the card on the back panel of the computer with the screw EngineSoft installation PCI1050.docx

2 7. Connect the 62 pin cable to the card from the back of the computer and fasten the screw if any. 8. Replace the cover of your computer chassis. 9. Switch ON the computer. The computer shall display the message as Found New Hardware and following screen of Found New Hardware Wizard shall appear: Click Next after selecting Install the software automatically (Recommended) Click Finish after the wizard has finished installing the software. Open the Device Manager from Start Control Panel Performance and maintenance System Hardware Device Manager. The device name of PCI-1050-AD/DA-DAS card should be listed under device Dynalog as shown below. Note: If the card is properly installed then you should see the device name of your card listed on the Device Manager tab. If you do see your device name but with an exclamation sign marked on it then it means your card has not been installed correctly. In this case Uninstall the card device from the Device Manager by selecting the device and by pressing Uninstall button under Driver tab. 1C] Configuring the ADD on card The Device Registration utility program is a utility that allows to configure the device, store the settings in windows system registry and later test the device. The APIs of DLL drivers used these settings stored in this windows system registry. Follow the steps shown below for Device registration. 1. Run Device Registration utility. (By accessing Start All Programs Dynalog Driver for Windows XP Device Registration utility. You will see the screen shown below EngineSoft installation PCI1050.docx

3 2. Click the Add button and a list of devices will appear as shown below. 3. Select the Device PCI-1050 and then press OK button. Following screen shall appear which shows the list of PCI-1050 devices found in a system. It also shows the BoardID and the I/O address of the device EngineSoft installation PCI1050.docx

4 4. Select the device and then press OK button. Following screen shall appear for Channel, Polarity and Range setting in A/D settings. 5. For Channel0 select the Bipolar polarity and confirm that Range is 0-5V. Click OK. Following screen shall appear 6. Select 001:[PCI-1050+<BID = 00, I/O=B400H > and Click Modify. The Select a PCI Device screen shall re-appear as shown in Step no Select the device and then press OK button. Following screen shall re-appear EngineSoft installation PCI1050.docx

5 8. For Channel1 select the Bipolar polarity and confirm that Range is 0-5V. Click OK. Following screen shall re-appear 9. Repeat Step 6,7 and 8 for Channel2 to Channel7. (Note that each channel from 0 to 7 should be converted in to bipolar mode.) 10. After completing Step No. 9 the screen in Step No. 8 shall appear. 6 Note and confirm that Channel numbers 0 to 7 are in bipolar mode (Range +/5V). If any channel is still under in Unipolar mode follow steps 6,7 and 8 to convert it in to bipolar mode. If the add on card cable is connected to engine panel and if he panel power is switched on Input voltage at each channel can be seen in the respective windows provided for Analog Input *in volts Click Close for exit. 7 2 EngineSoft software package Windows based engine performance analysis software package Enginesoft is provided to study Engine performance under different operating conditions. The software package is configurable for different the engine set ups. 2A] Installing the software package EngineSoft The Enginesoft software package is provided on Apex Innovations CD. The software installation procedure automatically starts when CD is inserted in the CD ROM drive. If the installation does not start browse the CD using explorer and run Setup.exe file from Enginesoft folder. Click Next on Welcome screen Select Accept end user license agreement on End User License Agreement screen and Click Agree. On Select Destination Location screen click Next. You can select different destination folder by clicking Browse Click OK if you get Warning message. This message is seen during re-installation of Enginesoft. On Registration screen write Name of the Department and Name of the Institute and then click Next. Click finish on Start Copying screen. After Installing screen the EngineSoft icon can be seen on the desktop. If you do not see the EngineSoft icon on the Desktop Click Start All Programs Apex Innovations EngineSoft Then Right click on EngineSoft selct Send To and then click Desktop(create shortcut). Double click the EngineSoft icon on the desktop to execute the software. Following screen shall be seen EngineSoft installation PCI1050.docx

8 2B] Configuring EngineSoft Click Data Setup to to get Open screen as follows: Select suitable engine set up applicable to the setup available with you. For Single cylinder constant speed engine setup select KirloskarEngineSetup.cfs. For Single cylinder variable speed engine setup select BajajCT100.cfs. For multicylinder variable speed setup select Maruti800MPFI.cfs Click Open to select setup configuration. 9 On various tabs of Configure Enginesoft screen enter/confirm the data provided in the instruction manual of the set up. If any value is changed click Apply for each tab. Click OK to exit configuration. 2C] Conducting Test Run Confirm communication cable (From engine indicator to computer communication port) and Add on card cable (From engine panel to ADC/DAC card in computer) are connected and engine panel is switched on. Click Test Run and then Start. Click Yes for Engine Setup screen. Click Yes for Config Setup screen. (If you get Driver message the card driver is not installed. Install the driver) Click OK for card Successfully open. The current parameter values are displayed on the screen. Note that speed =0 as engine is not started. If speed and other parameter values are not displayed, press Reset switch on Engine Indicator (AX-104) on the Engine Control panel. Confirm correctness of other parameter values (temperatures and load) with the values displayed on multipoint digital voltmeter provided on control panel. If some problem is noticed at this stage resolve it before starting the engine. Start the engine and observe the values displayed on the screen. 10 Wait 3 minutes to achieve steady state. Change the fuel cock to measuring and press Log for data logging. After one minute software will prompt for file name. Enter the file name (file name should not start with numeric character). Enter manual readings for water flow rates and any other data as prompted. Change the load on the engine to 20-25% of full load and repeat the data logging after Steady state. Log 4-5 readings to cover entire engine working range by increasing the load gradually. Select Test Run Stop for Stopping the Test Run. Shut down the engine. Select Test Run File Select the logged file and press Open. You will Reading no. 1 logged earlier. Press Next Data to add further logged readings till all readings are loaded. View Combustion Analysis Operating characteristics and Result observation data by clicking the respective tabs. Measurement and Results and Combustion Data can be printed on Results observation tab by Clicking Data Print Appropriate selection. For Graph printing right click on respective graph under Combustion Analysis and Operating characteristics tabs and select Print Contents in the document subject to change without notice APEX INNOVATIONS PVT.
