Continued Now the Magnification Table can be created separately for each KV used on the instrument Set the KV you d like to create a new magnification table Open Magnification Table window by clicking Server Magnification table Adjust the condenser, spot size and projectors data for chosen Detector and Magnification and click on OK. After closing the Magnification table window, the new mag table file will be created on C:\JEOL folder. i.e. if your instrument is 2010 and you had setup Mag table for 200 kv the created file will be newmagdata tbl. For 2011 and 100kV will be newmagdata tbl 6/13/

5.4 Magnification table conversion utility. In version 2.60, the Magnification table was completely redesign and all Condenser and Projectors data for Auto brightness now is storing into newmagdataxxx.tbl (where xxx is type of instrument) file. In version 2.50.xx all Magnification data have stored into MagDataxxx.tbl file. The Mag Table Convert utility was design to convert the old MagTable to the newest format and prevents to redo all MagTable again Mag Table Convert utility locates on FasTEM CD, under Utilities folder. Run this program from CD Select the appropriate file (MagDataxxx.tbl) Click the <Convert> button DONE! 6/13/

5.5 STEM Function. Currently in version 2.60 setting the Index for Probe and Camera Length is slightly changed. Instead of modifying the *txt file from Explorer, you now are able to setup the Index from STEM Maintenance window. Note that an engineer adjusted probe size and camera length data is loaded to instrument when STEM is ON. The select switch for probe size is located beside the select switch for camera length Type text, as you like into the Index combo list and then press the <Return> on keyboard. The Save Index button appears Click the Save Index button to save your changes. These texts are reflected to the client automatically. Continued on next page 6/13/

Continued After saving, the two text files: one for probe (C:\Jeol\Data\Stem\Probe) and other for camera length (C:\Jeol\Data\Stem\CamLen) is created. The Probe size and Camera Length index can be created separately for each KV used on the instrument. As you can see below, the two files for each KV were created: Camera Length, JEM 2010, 180kV and 200 kv. Probe setup, JEM 2010, 180kV and 200 kv. These files are editable by an engineer or a customer. 6/13/ Continued on next page

Continued Probe Size Setting Check the learning mode Select a probe size Open the STEM maintenance from pull down menu of the server Select the learning mode in the STEM maintenance Adjust the lens data using FLC unit. * You can change lens data only by FLC unit. 44 Continued Camera Length Setting Check the learning mode Select a camera length Open the STEM maintenance from pull down menu of the server Select the learning mode in the STEM maintenance Adjust the lens data using FLC unit. * You can change lens data only by FLC unit. (Client FLC is unusable for STEM data setting.)..5.5 Save the camera length data. 6/13/

The Probe size and Camera Length data can be saved separately for each KV used on the instrument After saving, the two table files: one for probe (C:\Jeol\Data\Stem\Probe) and other for camera length (C:\Jeol\Data\Stem\CamLen) is created. As you can see below, the two files for each KV were created: Camera Length Data, JEM 2010, 180kV and 200 kv. Probe size data, JEM 2010, 180kV and 200 kv. 6/13/

5.6 AXIS Video Server (Optional) FasTEM 2.60 supports two types of video server: one based on WINNOV hardware (installed into PC) or another, based on AXIS video server. FasTEM 2.60 designed to work with AXIS 2400/2401 Video Servers and can network up to four analog cameras. (See APPENDIX A for FasTEM AXIS Video Server/Client connection layout). The AXIS Video Server hardware is optional and can be purchased separately. During install FasTEM if you select AXIS Video server The Video Server Options controls the network settings and camera configuration for the Video FasTEM server. Note: The Properties is only available for Administrator users. Network Configuration User Name - login user name, usually "root" Password - login password, has to match the password settings on the AXIS Video Server IP Address network address of AXIS video server Title enter the information you d like to be showing on top of the Video Client window (name of lab, location ) 6/13/

Continued on next page Continued Camera Configuration The Detector list box allows the user to select the Detector/Camera to configure The Assigned to Channel list box allows the user to select the channel associated with the selected Detector/Camera. Note: Change of the current channel is only enabled when logged on as Administrator on the FasTEM Server Overlay Display options controls the amount of information s overlaid on top of the image in the upper-left corner. The information is the same as displayed on Status Bar. All the information might not fit in the limited space, so partial selection might be needed. 5.7 Voice server NOTE: Voice Server only available with AXIS Video Server. A Voice server has launched directly by the FasTEM Server application. By definition, the Voice server application hosts the session. After starting, Voice server advertises itself as available and wait for clients to connect. To join a session, a Voice client application must determine the host server's address. For FasTEM Voice Client configuration procedure see chapter Session Name FTSession (Default) Port (Default) Voice codec Microsoft GSM kbit/s (Default) Connected Clients display a list of currently connected clients. 6/13/

5.8 Goniometer Maintenance window. New MAG LINK Functions After you open the Goniometer Maintenance window from the Server, you will see an additional slide bar to control the Mag and Low Mag speed. Mag and Low Mag modes have 6 different stages, which are defaulted to: MAG: Low Mag: 2500, 10000, 25000, , , x 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000x Adjustment of magnification and speed at MAG x is disabled, because the speed and backlash of the stage are usually adjusted at high magnification. Thus, the MAG LINK curve may be changed for each stage with the slide bar using the speed adjusted at MAG x as a reference. MAG and LOWMAG data are totally separated, and will be treated as such. 10 MAG LINK Speed x1m x250k x100k x25k x10k x2.5k MAG LOW MAG LINK Speed x4000 x2000 x1000 x500 x250 x100 LOW MAG 6/13/

Adjustment Procedure At MAG 1.0Mx, optimize the speed using X/Y Speed 1 and Backlash At MAG 250,000x, adjust the speed to a reasonable level using the speed control bar At each magnification level shown in the Range column, adjust the speed to a reasonable level using the speed control bar Verify the sample speed at all magnification levels of MAG Similarly for LOW MAG, adjust the speed to a reasonable level using the speed control bar at each magnification level shown in the Range column. 1 2 Speed 6/13/
