1 Electronic File Transfer Three electronic file transfer options may be utilised from both the Windows and Classic versions of Gold to export any report to file or to a website. Transfer Using Tun (Classic version only) This option creates a text file that may then be imported into a spreadsheet if required. Transfer File to Designated PC Creates a text file and transfers to any computer on the local area network providing the user has sufficient privileges. Transfer File to Web Site Uploads specific information to a web site, for example wholegood information to the company website or stock information to a manufacturers website. Setup 1. File Transfer Details (System Management, Security, File Transfer Details) The following information needs to be set up before using file export. Transfer File Using Tun This option will only work on screens using the Classic interface through a Tun Emulator. Key Entry Fields File Path Enter a code to identify the transfer type. Transfer File Using Tun Enter the path to the directory in which to store files, e.g. C:/tmp Transfer File to Designated PC Transfers a file to any computer on the local area network providing the user has sufficient rights to the shared directory on the pc. In this way a file can be transferred to the users pc or another users pc. Can be utilised from both the Windows and Classic screens. Use the Create (F6) function to automatically create a file transfer id for each terminal from the Terminal Identity file. The created ID s will be set to file transfer to the local pc. In addition, if a new terminal is added to the Terminal Identity file, a file transfer ID is created here automatically for the local pc. Fact Sheet 07 Rev Electronic File Transfer

2 Key Entry Fields Terminal ID Enter a code to identify the transfer type. Usually the same as the terminal identity. Transfer File to Designated PC Enter the terminal ID to use to complete default entries. Lookup available by using <?>. (# by the prompts below indicates default entries made by the selection of the terminal ID). Windows Share Enter the share name of the Shared Directory to store files. # E.g. tmp This directory must exist on the specified pc and must be shared. The lowest level share should be specified e.g. if the directory C:\TEMP\GOLD is shared, only the share name for GOLD is needed. Username/Id No. Enter a username with access to the shared directory. # This will normally be the same name as the user logs onto the computer with. If unsure, reboot the computer and check the name that is displayed on restart. Password The computer logon password for the entered user name. # IP Address The IP address of the computer. # This will default to the IP address of the computer from the terminal identity file. Windows Domain The Windows Domain name. E.g. WORKGROUP or POOLE # If unsure reboot the computer and check the details displayed on restart (log in screen). If may be necessary to click the Options button to see the domain name or, if there is not one displayed then no domain is required here. Fact Sheet 07 Rev Electronic File Transfer

3 Transfer File to Web Site Uploads specific information to a web site, for example wholegood information to the company website or stock information to a manufacturers website. Key Entry Fields Username/Id No. Password Site Name IP Address File Path Enter a code to identify the transfer type. Transfer File to Web Site Account Name as supplied by the ISP. Password supplied for the above account name. Company name. E.g. Ibcos Website IP Address Enter the path to the directory in which to store files on the transfer pc, e.g. tmp 2. Terminal Identity Maintenance (System Management, Security, Terminal Identity Maintenance) The following information needs to be set up on the Terminal tab, before using file export. 4 Key Entry Fields Allow Windows Export No Yes No Selection Yes Allow Selection Hyperlink to the maintenance program available. Export is not permitted. Allow the terminal to use the windows export but only using the export code entered below. Give the terminal access to the full choice of export codes available. This enables a user to transfer to other pc s on the network. Enter a default transfer ID or if No Selection was chosen enter the only transfer type available to the terminal. When creating a new Terminal Identity the will be created automatically. Using File Transfer To file transfer any report or other export select Printer 90 (in the Windows version Server must first be selected from the print options). Provided the terminal has permission to use the export options, the default export type will be displayed or if permissions allow, may be selected. Transfer Using Tun a default file name is displayed which may be altered if required. The Path to a directory on the hard drive of the computer is also displayed and can be amended if required. Transfer to Web Site this is normally used to upload wholegood details to a web site designed by Ibcos Computers but can be used to upload files to other web sites. Also used to upload stock orders to some manufacturers web sites. Transfer to Designated PC the terminal ID for the selected transfer ID is displayed and cannot be altered. The share directory can be changed if required but must be a shared directory on the specified pc. The PC filename can be changed if required. Fact Sheet 07 Rev Electronic File Transfer

5 Trouble Shooting If errors are occurring whilst attempting Windows file transfer check the following error list. Error #5 Error #6 Error #7 Error #8 Error #9 Invalid user name or password IP Address not found No such share No such windows file Remote machine not found The first option would be to edit the and re-input the Terminal ID, which will in turn update all the settings on the screen. Alternatively, address the specific problem indicated. Error #5 Error #6 Error #7 Error #9 Check/Re-enter the user name and password on the Check/Re-enter the IP address on the Check that the directory specified is shared, i.e. has the blue arm visible underneath it.
