23 Some Conclusions Several ways that companies can gain efficiencies through Cloud Computing: Companies can economically host applications with potential security issues outside of their secure, internal network at a trusted vendor to reduce their risk exposure. Companies that need to purchase a specialized application that is not compatible with their internal system configuration standards (and would therefore be more expensive to support) may choose to run it in the Cloud at a trusted vendor for less than they could host it themselves. Large system migrations may be rendered less disruptive by using the Cloud to ramp up capacity to a level where the new and old systems can be run in parallel as traffic is slowly migrated to the new system, or quickly migrated back to the old if problems are encountered. Many large companies currently incur the costs of a 3 rd party data center at a remote location for Disaster Recovery (DR). Companies can benefit greatly from a cloud-based DR facility not just from the reduced cost structure, but also from the simplification of maintenance. Normal DR best practices should be followed, such as periodically testing a recovery, etc. As Cloud-oriented malware evolves, so will Cloud Security products to counteract it. The increasing volumes of valuable business data concentrated together in Cloud providers sites will certainly stimulate hackers and web-vandals to achieve new heights of creativity, and equal creativity will be required to counteract their actions. 23
