1 THE MAFFAA JOURNAL November 2018 Message from Editor-in-Chief Happy November! As we approach these final months of 2018, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your continued support. Indeed we all have things to be grateful this coming Thanksgiving, and one of them is the support of our fellow members! Thank you giving us to serve you and your respective communities here in the Washington, DC area as well other places in the United States. This past month, MAFFAA had the pleasure of returning to the islandstate of Hawaii to once again produce and execute a notable production. Entitled, "Maskarabooh: Masquerade Ball and Musicale," this latest production was presented in by Island Living Productions and Entertainment in collaboration with VJ Serenaders presented. Please sure read the full recap in the next section. Lastly, on behalf of our Executive Board of Directors I would like to personally extend a safe and peaceful (early) Thanksgiving greeting to you and your loved ones! As for me, I know that I am definitely looking forward to spending some much needed rest and quality with my family in California! 2 Enclosed below is a quick recap of the evening through the words of my fellow Co-Executive Director and MAFFAA President, Dr. Lorna Imperial Seidel. Maskarabooh: Masquerade Ball and Musicale was surprisingly well-attended over 200 guests, many of who came in their respective Masquerade costumes. The event was held at the New Life Theater located at the very heart of Honolulu, Hawaii. The Musicale part was quite astonishingly which opened with the VJ Serenaders. Ramon Sumibcay, Jay Flores, Julius Mina, Anna Davide, Jiji Blackstone Sumait and Jon Almosara performed great numbers from great Broadway musicals. I was very grateful that the audience was entertained-to-the-max with the special participation of Hawaii's very own, an International Musical headliner with and angelic voice. Kristian Lei provided a brief teaser for her upcoming major solo concert on Wednesday, December 12 at the Mamiya Theater. Be sure to stay tuned for complete details!
