6 Section 3.0 Step 01 Open Revit. Select Create New Project. Select Construction Template, select OK. Go to the Aditazz tab on the Ribbon Select Design Synthesis. This will open the Aditazz Design Synthesis Revit Plug-In UI Window. In the Design Synthesis Window enter your user name and password and select Connect to Aditazz Platform. This will load your available projects, libraries, and rooms. 6 Design Synthesis Application Revit Plug-In 1.1.0

7 Section 3.0 Step 02 Select the project you want to work in from the Projects and Libraries dropdowns. Select one or more rooms from within the Baseline Rooms tab and select Import. If you want to make edits, import the room as a Project File (in the Import as dropdown). Step 03 The room is imported and all content is converted to native Revit objects. You can edit the rooms by moving content in the model using the native Revit editing commands. 7 Design Synthesis Application Revit Plug-In 1.1.0

8 Section 3.0 Under the Placement Rules tab you can view all rules used to create the room. When moving content in the room, the Revit Plug-in captures the new placement of the content and generates a rule that is then displayed in the Placement Rules tab. 8 Design Synthesis Application Revit Plug-In 1.1.0

9 Section 3.0 Step 04 After making manual changes to the room layout go to the Save Rooms tab. Here you have the option to save the changes to the room or save as a new room. Note: If content has been added or deleted from the room, the Revit Plug-in will only allow you to save your changes as a new room. Select Validate and Save to check if your manual changes have violated any of the rules. Upon clicking Validate and Save, the program reruns the placement of the room and checks all the rules. If there is a valid placement, the program provides a success message and reloads the room. If there is no valid placement and any of the rules have been violated, the program returns an error message with details about the placement failure. The user must now undo the changes or make additional changes and check again by clicking Validate and Save. 9 Design Synthesis Application Revit Plug-In 1.1.0

10 Section 3.0 Step 05 Selecting the Properties tab will give you access to detailed information about each piece of content. You must select some content in the model in order to see the properties. Step 06 Under the Room Contents tab, the user can add and delete content from a room. The user has access to a preloaded content library from which new content can be chosen. Note: adding or removing content will require the user to Validate and Save As the room as a new room. 10 Design Synthesis Application Revit Plug-In 1.1.0

11 Section 3.0 Step 07 Under the Baseline Rooms tab, the user can create a new room. This room will not contain any content or rules. The user can then add content under the Room Contents tab. The placement will use compliance rules that come with the content. Additional custom rules can be added via the web UI. Step 08 To use the Aditazz Design Synthesis rooms within an existing Revit building model, the user can import the room as a Revit family file. To do so, open your project file, go to the Design Synthesis tool accessible under the Aditazz Tab and log onto the Aditazz Platform. Browse to the project and library of your choosing and find the room or rooms you want to import as a Revit family. Select your room in the Baseline Rooms tab. On the bottom right of your Revit Plug-In window under the Import as drop down select Family File. Please note, it may take a few minutes for the files to load into your project. Once they are loaded, the family files are available in the Families section of the Project Browser, under Generic Models. 11 Design Synthesis Application Revit Plug-In 1.1.0

12 Section 3.0 You can create the family files for all the desired rooms and load them into your project. In addition to the Baseline Room, all valid variants (Family Types) are also available. You can use the Design Synthesis Room families the same as any native Revit Families. Once a family file is loaded you can to go the Floor Plan tab. You can see all room families that are placed into your floor plan in the Revit Plug-In UI window. If you need to make a change to a family file, select the Edit button next to the family you want to change. This will open the project file, where you can make changes. Once your changes have been validated against the rules, the family file is reloaded. Future functionality: in the Revit Plug-in UI you will be able to see all families that have been updated and will be given the option to reload them in your floor plan. 12 Design Synthesis Application Revit Plug-In 1.1.0

13 Section 4.0 How to File a Bug How to File a Bug If you have discovered a problem, or are not able to perform a task as expected let the team know by filling a bug. Here is how to do so: Step 01 Go to our support page: Step 02 Welcome to the Aditazz Support page. To file a ticket click on Create Ticket and fill out the request form by providing a summary and description of the issue and your address. Step 03 Upon submitting your request form a ticket will be created and a customer support representative will contact you right away via to get more information or provide you with a solution. 14 Section 5.0 Glossary Glossary Compliance Rules The Design Synthesis Application uses a set of native rules to generate a compliant placement. These rules are applied to the objects that are classified or have the necessary features that require the corresponding rule. An example of a generated rule is: ADA requirement centerline of toilet is located at 18 from wall. Any toilet fixture with a feature ADA will have this rule automatically applied and will be placed accordingly. Custom Rules Rules that are entered by the user to direct the placement of specific objects in a room. Feature Describes a behavior, characteristic, or action of an object. For example, an object can be WALL-MOUNTED or a door can have a LEFT-PUSH swing characteristic. Classification For MVP 1.1.0, the Design Synthesis Application uses OmniClass to classify objects. In addition to features, this classification is used to apply compliance rules to objects and direct placement generation. Baseline Room This is the base room the users work on. Variants are generated from the baseline room. Variants For each room the Design Synthesis Application automatically generates a set of variants for the user to use in the context of a building floor plan. The user can choose to create two types of variants: size and flip (mirror). To create variants the user provides the minimum and maximum limits in form of a percentage, the step size and if a flipped (mirrored) version of each variants is desired. When the baseline room is updated, all generated variants are deleted and new variants are created upon request, reflecting the baseline room s change. Variants are available in the Revit environment as types of a Revit family. Validate and Save and Revisions The Design Synthesis Application checks every change made to a room to ensure that it does not violate the generated and custom rules. Each time the user wants to save, the application runs the solver and if a valid solution is found saves the changes as a new revision to the room. Only valid placements are saved as a revision. A new revision is created at each Validate and Save operation. Draft If a Validate and Save operation failed to provide a valid placement, no new revision is created. The users work is saved as a draft and available to the user to make additional changes and bring the room into compliance. Other users will not have access to the users draft but continue to use the last valid revision. Workshare The Design Synthesis Application requires that only one user works on a room at a time. Having two or more users work on the same room at the same time may result in users losing their work and updates. 14 Design Synthesis Application Revit Plug-In 1.1.0
