1 RELEASE NOTES FOR PHOTOMESH Abut PhtMesh Skyline s PhtMesh fully autmates the generatin f high-reslutin, textured, 3D mesh mdels frm standard 2D phtgraphs, ffering a significant reductin in cst and time cmpared t traditinal mdeling methds. PhtMesh s breakthrugh technlgy is based n the highest-perfrmance phtgrammetry, cmputer visin, and cmputatinal gemetry algrithms. Cmbining any number f phtgraphs, in a wide range f frmats and reslutins, PhtMesh generates highly-detailed 3D mdels that can be viewed and queried using TerraExplrer r ther 3D and GIS prducts. PhtMesh emplys elabrate tiling mechanisms t efficiently handle prjects with even hundreds f thusands f phts. Running n standard hardware, PhtMesh can als explit cmputer clusters and clud cmputing t run a single prject simultaneusly n hundreds f fuser machines. Sharing the wrklad invlved in generating PhtMesh utput vastly accelerates all steps f the build. PhtMesh Cmpnents The PhtMesh applicatin is cmpsed f three cmpnents: PhtMesh Editr The main PhtMesh wrking area fr varius wrkflw actins such as preparing, submitting fr prcessing, mnitring, and reviewing the build. PhtMesh Fuser Wrker cmpnent f PhtMesh which allws yu t share the wrklad between several cmputers n the same netwrk. The master cmputer, equipped with PhtMesh fuser, utilizes the cmputing pwer f the netwrk s client cmputers by cnnecting t PhtMesh fusers n the client machines. PhtMesh Build Manager Manager applicatin that is respnsible fr managing the build prcess and PhtMesh fusers. PhtMesh Build Manager keeps track f all build tasks and fusers, distributing tasks amng the fusers and assigning new tasks as fusers cmplete their tasks and becme available. During the build prcess, PhtMesh Build Manager mnitrs the build and prvides the user with detailed infrmatin abut the build s prgress. Bug Fixes and Imprved Stability Imprved glbal accuracy f utput in prjects with grund cntrl pints Generated I3S utput is nw als supprted by ESRI ArcPr and ArcServer Imprved mdel quality when zming ut (reslutin pyramid) WHAT S NEW IN PHOTOMESH 7.3 Exprt/Imprt Textured Mdel fr Manual Retuch PhtMesh 7.3 streamlines the prcess fr exprt and imprt f mdels fr manual retuch. The user can exprt a textured r untextured mdel as an OBJ file, enabling manual gemetry and texture editing with external tls. Fr imprting a retuched mdel, the latest PhtMesh prvides three useful ptins: Imprt the textured mdel and cntinue t the utput phase Imprt nly the mesh gemetry and retexture the mdel using PhtMesh Imprt nly textures and apply them t the mdel generated by PhtMesh befre the edits

3 New Reslutin Pyramid Mechanism PhtMesh 7.3 s new and mre advanced reslutin pyramid mechanism prvides imprved perfrmance and better clr balancing between different mdel reslutins, and enables the fllwing: Applicatin f external changes (manual retuch f mdel and textures) t the entire reslutin pyramid Imprved remval f a mving bject (e.g., car) frm all mdel reslutins High Quality True-Orthpht Versin 7.3 s high quality true-rthpht prduces: True seamless and clr balanced rthpht New algrithm significantly reduces visible artifacts Old/New

4 Preset Mechanism Build parameter presets make it easy t autmatically set the required parameters t generate the ptimum utput fr the prject s data as well as t share user-defined build settings between prjects. New presets can be added t the Preset Manager by saving current build settings r by lading frm file. Presets are easily managed (deleted, set as default) frm the new Preset Manager. Imprved Matching and Aertriangulatin (AT) Imprved pht matching and aertriangulatin imprve the rbustness, precisin and success rate f the aertriangulatin prcess: Dynamically adjust the cmplexity f the feature matching prcess based n the dataset. This ptin dramatically imprves the results frm challenging datasets (e.g., wded areas). Range f ptins fr autmatic calculatin and calibratin f camera s intrinsic parameters. Select the methd f AT tile alignment (nly align each individual AT tile t its camera psitins and grund cntrl pints, r als align the tiles with each ther) based n the reliability f camera psitin accuracy and ther factrs.
