4 Compatibility Notes & Issues Microsoft Windows Operating System This version of DDMS is compatible with Windows XP Professional. Sundance Automation This version of DDMS is compatible with Titan or FastBreak NXT version or later. ListProcessor This version of DDMS is compatible with ListProcessor version 1.20M9 or later. SIDON This version of DDMS is compatible with SIDON version 2.01S8 or later. Media Prep This version of DDMS is compatible with Media Prep version or later. DDMS software can run on the same machine as Media Prep. If installed separately, DDMS has the same requirements as Media Prep. 360 Image Systems 2000 Server This version of DDMS is compatible with 360 Image Systems 2000 server with software version B. Carbon Coder This version of DDMS is compatible with Carbon Coder version or later. DG Systems This version of DDMS is compatible with DG Systems version DMG Server This version of DDMS is compatible with DMG Server version PB. FlipFactory This version of DDMS is compatible with FlipFactory version 5.1 or later. Grass Valley K2 This version of DDMS is compatible with Grass Valley K2 version Leitch Nexio 3601 HDI This version of DDMS is compatible with Leitch Nexio 3601HDI version MIJO This version of DDMS is compatible with MIJO version Omneon Spectrum This version of DDMS is compatible with Omneon Spectrum version , Media Director tap1 Release , and Player MIP-1010A.

5 SeaChange MediaClient 6004 This version of DDMS is compatible with SeaChange MediaClient MCL6004 hardware package and SW 202 software. Specifications No previously undocumented hardware specifications for this version. Installation Issues Media Prep Station The DDMS software is designed to run the same machine as Media Prep. If installed separately, DDMS requires the same OS and hardware as Media Prep. See installation guide for further information. Upgrade Issues Updating DDMS To update to DDMS from v : Replace the older DDMS.exe with the new file. To update to DDMS from v x: 1. Copy ConnectionSetting.xml to the DDMS folder. 2. Create the appropriate license file using DDMS-LicenseGenerator\ DDMSLicenseGenerator.exe. Do not copy this file to the station computers. 3. Copy the license file to the DDMS folder. 4. Place the new executable in the DDMS folder. 5. Start DDMS. The destinations and PathFire inventory should be blank. 6. Open DDMS.ini (existing file) in a text editor. 7. Select Options > Settings in DDMS to open the connection settings. 8. Type the connection name. 9. Copy the host name, client ID, and Authorization Key from DDMS.ini. 10. Set the protocol to Set the max transfers to Confirm the database section is in the correct format: [Database] DatabaseServer=qa-sql UserName=sa Password=sundance DatabaseName=DDMS 13. Save the changes. 14. Restart DDMS. 15. Ensure the DDMS.ini file shows the following under Rhozet: MaxTranscodeSlots=2

6 New Features in Release This version has no previously undocumented enhancements or new features. Hardware and Software Changes This section describes previously undocumented changes to hardware or software. MagnuBox DDMS now supports MagnuBox. Pathfire In previous versions, DDMS could not use multiple Pathfire sources. In this version, you can use multiple Pathfire sources. In previous versions, you had to manually refresh between Pathfire ads and shows. This version automatically refreshes in the background. In an earlier version, switching between connections cleared the value in the ads and shows menu. This changed the type to null instead of ad or show causing DDMS to wait for SMT to mark the file as ondisk. Tabs In this version, the tab order is logically organized. Save Connections In earlier versions, previously added connections were not when switching between connections. This feature works correctly in this version. Known Limitations Transfers This section provides information on known limitations that were not addressed in this release. Any available workaround procedures are also documented, when possible. Note: For limitations related to compatibility of this release with previous versions/other products, see the section of this document entitled, Compatibility Issues. Simultaneous Transfer Occasionally DDMS fails during simultaneous transfers. Workaround: Use resubmit function. Timecode All transfers are based on 00:00:00:00 timecode. No support for preserve time-code. Workaround: Use 00:00:00:00 timecode.

7 Servers MediaStream MediaStream servers are not supported by this version of DDMS. Workaround: Use an alternate device. Profile 360 This version of DDMS does not support Profile servers. Workaround: Use an alternate device. This version of DDMS is unable to display the closed captioning on the 360 server. Workaround: None. Omneon DDMS supports FTP to FTP transfers only for Omneon servers. Workaround: Use only Omneon servers to transfer from FTP to FTP. DG Clips A large inventory with over 4500 DG clips may run slowly. Workaround: Restart DDMS. Sources and Destinations Tabs Avid Sundance Digital recommends a limit of 10 to 12 tabs where each tab is a source. Additional tabs may decrease system performance. Workaround: Use fewer tabs. Protocols The refresh rate is currently around a minute per protocol. The number of tabs affects the refresh rate: having more tabs decreases this rate. Workaround: Use fewer tabs. FTP to FTP In order to transfer from FTP to FTP (Omneon only), the server must support passive mode. Workaround: Ensure your server supports passive mode. Multiple FTP Sources Multiple FTP sources is supported, but transfer of reference files (.MOV reference,.m2v video,.aiff audio) is not supported via FTP. Workaround: Ensure Omneon is set to use self-contained files. Masstech Transfers from Masstech are not supported. Workaround: None.

8 Carbon Coder Pathfire Closed Captions When Pathfire merges multiple files into one, Carbon Coder cannot extract the closed captions if the captions are in the VBI area. Workaround: N/A Nitris h.264 Carbon Coder is unable to identify interlacing on files exported from Nitris. Workaround: Enable Interlaced Mode in the video source property filter on the target. Carbon Coder and FlipFactory cannot encode h.264 files from MagnuBox. Workaround: Enable Interlaced Mode in the video source property filter on the target.
