In order for these abends to occur the following five conditions need to be met: a) Running with PLSOPT41 (Y). This sysparm's default value is (N). b) Data set is non-sms-managed. c) Data set is redirected in the DEFINE Environment. d) Program requesting the data set is running in a Key other than 8. e) After the volume is picked, but before the actual allocation is made, a 3rd party steals the free space needed for the data set. DB2 allocations are at risk because they are made in Key-7. IDCAMS DEFINE CLUSTER allocations are not at risk because they are made in Key Running with PLSOPT41 (Y). 2. Allocation requests for new non-sms-managed data sets made in a Key other than Allocation Selection Routine redirects in the DEFINE Environment. 4. A 3rd-party steals the free space on the volume that was chosen after it was chosen so the allocation request fails. 5. The following IBM Message is issued: IEC614I CREATE FAILED - RC 192, DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION IS ( C) 1. The requested VSAM data set does not get created. 2. When the application requesting the data set is DB2's DBM1 Started Task, DB2 will redrive the allocation request multiple times. Run with PLSOPT41 (N). The value is accurate upon entry but does not reflect any change in status from SMS-Managed to non-sms, or the reverse, that can be made in the ACS Environment. PRE(RO58265) The ACS Environment receives control after one or more of IBM's SMS Construct Routines has been executed. There are four SMS Constructs: Data Class (DC), Management Class (MC), Storage Class (SC), and Storage Group (SG). Each construct has a separate IBM ACS Routine. Some allocation requests, such as those made by IDCAMS when it is processing a DEFINE CLUSTER request, will result in multiple separate calls to IBM's SMS Services. No ACS Routine will be executed more than once, but rather, one will be executed in the first call to SMS Services, while the remaining three will be executed in the 2nd call to SMS Services. These two separate calls to SMS Services will result in two separate ACS Environment launches after the requested IBM ACS Routine(s) have been executed. Your ASR will not be able to change or assign a particular SMS Construct until after the IBM ACS Routine associated with that construct has been executed. This is to allow your ASR to have the final decision on the value of each of the four SMS Constructs. The following four new variables... IBM_DC_ACS_RTN_EXECUTED IBM_MC_ACS_RTN_EXECUTED IBM_SC_ACS_RTN_EXECUTED IBM_SG_ACS_RTN_EXECUTED...will have a value of either Y or N which will then allow your ASR to know which of the constructs it has the option of overriding. Multiple ACS Environment launches for the same new data set allocation. The seemingly duplicate ACS Environment launches indicating that prior changes to one or more SMS Construct names were not honored can cause unnecessary concern. None. This impacts only users of the CA Allocate 'QUOTA' selectable unit. 2) An abend S0C4 can result when attempting to retrieve the SMS construct names in the QUOTA environment. 3) The SMS construct names are not available in the QSCAN environment. The following messages are issued: VAM0331 QUOTA TABLE REBUILD *** IN PROGRESS *** VAM0331 QUOTA TABLE REBUILD *** COMPLETED *** ABEND S0C1-11 VDSINTRP+x'3DFA0' An increase in elapsed time for the QREBUILD function. Depending on how many volumes and how many data sets on the volumes, the increase can be several minutes. The SMS construct names are null in the QSCAN environment. The QREBUILD function is normally run as part of the start-up of CA Allocate. The increase in elapsed time delays the complete initialization of CA Allocate. ASR logic in the QSCAN environment may be impacted if the SMS construct names are being utilized. Remove PTF RO RELATED PROBLEM(S): 3439

The following messages are unconditionally issued: VAM0309 VDSPRE00 ESTAE ROUTINE HAS CONTROL IEC615I ABEND=0C OCCURRED IN THE VAMPRE00 EXIT MODULE FOR DYNAMIC EXIT IGGPRE00_EXIT 1. Job step completes successfully, however performance is affected due to executing the ESTAE routine for recovery. 2. Cannot track DADSM allocation statistics for AVR or BLK requests. 1.
