11 Istallig Your ANA 9500 Selectig the Istallatio Locatio Select a locatio for the ANA 9500 to avoid excessive heat or humidity. The Base Uit of your ANA 9500 ca be placed o a desk or tabletop ear a stadard 120V AC outlet ad telephoe lie jack. The Base Uit ca also be mouted o a stadard AT&T or GTE wall plate usig the optioal Wall Mout Adapter. If you will use the ANA 9500 with a Stadard 2500 type Telephoe Desk Uit, place the ANA 9500 ear that phoe. Keep the Base Uit ad Hadset away from sources of electrical oise (motors, fluorescet lightig, computers). Coectig the Telephoe Lie There are two types of phoe outlets: 1) Modular Jack Plug the telephoe lie cord from the Base Uit ito a stadard modular telephoe jack. (Note: If you do ot have a modular jack, cotact your local telephoe compay for iformatio o the istallatio of these jacks.) 2) Hard-wired Jack A modular jack coverter (ot icluded) is required. You may eed to rewire whe coectig the coverter (makig color-coded coectios). Note: Your Uide Telephoe Dealer or a telephoe supply store ca advise you o the proper adapter or coverter. 6

12 Coectig the Telephoe Cords The ANA 9500 must be coected to a aalog PBX port or a stadard aalog telephoe lie. CAUTION: Never istall telephoe wirig durig a lightig storm. Never touch uisulated telephoe wires or termials uless the telephoe lie has bee discoected at the etwork iterface. Use cautio whe istallig or modifyig telephoe lies. Lie "IN" From Telephoe Jack You ca also coect a stadard 2500-type desk phoe to the ANA 9500: Lie "OUT" To optioal 2500-type telephoe Coect to the Lie OUT Jack 7

13 TONE PULSE Toe/Pulse Switch Be sure the TONE/PULSE switch is i the TONE positio. + LINE OUT DC IN 10V LINE IN AC ADAPTOR TONE PULSE Note: Most systems are Toe dialig. Check with your PBX Admiistrator if you are ot sure whether your system is Toe or Pulse dialig. Applyig Power to the Base Uit Lie I From Telephoe Jack AC Adapter Lie Out to Host Telephoe Use oly the supplied AC Adapter: EXP LINE OUT DC IN 10V LINE IN AC ADAPTOR Wrap the Power Cord aroud the coveiet otch o the bottom. 8

Route the power cord where it will ot create a trip hazard, or where it could become chafed ad create a fire or other electrical hazards. Note: The AC Adapter furished with this phoe may be equipped with a polarized lie plug (a plug havig oe blade wider tha the other.) This plug will fit ito the power outlet oly oe way. If you are uable to isert the plug fully ito the outlet, try reversig the plug. Do ot alter the shape of the blades of the polarized plug. Note: If you caot plug the AC Adapter ito the outlet, cotact someoe about replacig the outlet. The uique desig of your ANA 9500 allows you to place the Hadset o the Base Uit either face dow or face up, with or without the Belt Clip attached. 15 Before usig your ANA 9500, be sure to raise the atea to the vertical positio. Raise to Vertical Positio Attachig the Belt Clip to the Hadset You ca use the Belt Clip to attach the Hadset to your belt or pocket for coveiet portability. Sap the tabs of the Belt Clip ito the otches o the sides of the Hadset. To remove the Belt Clip, pry oe tab at a time from the otch o the side of the Hadset. Carefully lift the Belt Clip off. (CAUTION: The Belt Clip is desiged to fit sugly oto the Hadset.) VOL MUTE Istallig the Hadset Battery Pack 1. Place the Battery Pack oto the Hadset so that it slides easily alog the ridges. 2. Slide the Battery Pack up oto the Hadset util it clicks ito place. 10

16 CHARGE BATT CHARGE IIN USE/HOLD POWER PAGE/FIND Removig the Hadset Battery Pack 1. Press i o the Battery Pack Release Latch 2. Slide the Battery Pack off the Hadset Note: You may have to pull hard to slide the Battery Pack off. Chargig the Hadset Battery Pack The Rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium Battery Pack must be fully charged before usig your ANA 9500 for the first time. (Note: Charge the Stadard 400 mah Battery Pack without iterruptio for 6-8 hours.) 1. Place the Hadset o the Base Uit. 2. Make sure the LED lights. If the LED does t light, check to see that the AC Adapter is plugged i,ad that the Hadset is makig good cotact with the Base Uit Chargig Cotacts. 11

17 Toe Pulse Chargig Spare Battery Packs The Base Uit of your ANA 9500 is equipped with a Battery Charger for chargig a Optioal Spare Battery Pack. + DC IN 10V 1. Positio the Battery Pack LINE OUT LINE IN so the ier side is facig AC ADAPTOR toward the top of the Base Uit. 2. Slide the Battery Pack ito the Chargig Compartmet util it clicks ito place. (Note: The Battery Pack Chargig Compartmet has a latch that keeps the Battery Pack i place durig chargig.) Make sure the BATTERY CHARGE LED lights. If the BATTERY CHARGE LED does ot light, check to see that the AC Adapter is plugged i, ad that the Battery Pack is seated ito the Chargig Compartmet. Note: Charge the Stadard 400 mah Battery Pack without iterruptio for 6-8 hours. Charge the optioal 730 mah mah Battery Pack without iterruptio for 8-10 hours. Whe chargig is complete, press dow o the latch to remove the Battery Pack for use. Or, if you do t eed the Battery pack immediately, leave it i the Chargig Compartmet (It will ot overcharge.) Low Battery Idicator Whe the Battery Pack i the Hadset is low ad eeds to be charged, you will see a message o the display. O a Call Oly the TALK butto operates. Hadset beeps oce every 3 secods Complete your call as quickly as possible Replace Battery pack withi 20 secods to cotiue call. I Stadby Mode Noe of the buttos operate. Hadset beeps oce. Caot make call. Replace Battery Pack before makig a call. Retur the Hadset to the Base Uit for chargig or replace the Hadset Battery Pack with aother charged Battery Pack. 12

19 Usig Your ANA 9500 Hadset Note: Operatio of the ANA 9500 is performed usig the Hadset off the Base Uit. The exceptios are chargig the Hadset Battery Pack, ad termiatig a call with AutoStadby. The Base Uit is used to place a call o HOLD, or to Page the Hadset. These operatios are discussed i the Sectio: Usig Your ANA 9500 Base Uit. ANA 9500 Hadset Cotrols R/VOL MUTE Hadset Earpiece Volume (Durig a Call Press VOL o the side of the Hadset to select a loud or soft Earpiece volume level. Riger Select (Stadby Mode) Press VOL o the side of the Hadset to select from RING HIGH Note: You get a vibrator alert istead of a rig toe whe you set the Riger Volume to RING OFF. RING LOW Mute 14

20 Usig the Hadset Whe you pick up the Hadset ad press TALK, you will see: The you ll see oe of the followig: Coditio Idicator LCD Display Lie OK TALK LED No Coectio to Base Uit Chael Busy Lie i Use Error Toe Error Toe Error Toe NO SERVICE SYSTEM BUSY LINE IN USE Whe commuicatio is made betwee the Base Uit ad the Hadset, the scree will go to Stadby, ad the phoe is ready to use. If the Hadset is at the rage limit of the ANA 9500, you may see: Take the followig actio: Durig a Call I Stadby Mode Coditio Warig Toe Ca t make or aswer calls (Phoe may rig itermittetly) Actio Move back i rage withi 20 secods Move back withi rage. 15

21 Aswerig a Call Whe you receive a call, the Hadset rigs ad you ll see: Hadset o the Base Uit Pick up the Hadset. The AutoTalk feature allows you to aswer the call immediately. Hadset off the Base Uit Press TALK. Whe you fiish the call,, place the Hadset back o the Base Uit. AutoStadby automatically hags up the phoe. OR Press TALK to hag up the phoe. Makig a Call (If the Hadset is o the Base Uit, pick it up.) Press TALK. The TALK LED will light, ad you ll see: If the Lie is all right, eter the umber you are callig. (You ca also dial from memory. See the sectio o Usig Memory.) Whe you fiish the call, place the Hadset back o the Base Uit. AutoStadby automatically hags up the phoe. -OR- Press TALK to hag up the phoe. 16

22 Note: Feature Buttos The exact operatio of the Feature Buttos depeds o how your PBX system is cofigured. Cotact your PBX Admiistrator for more iformatio. Placig a call o hold Press HOLD. You ll hear a beep ad see: To resume the call, press HOLD or TALK. Trasferrig a Call Press TRANSFER. You ll hear a beep, ad see: Dial the target umber. Whe the receivig party aswers, press TALK to complete the trasfer. Coectig a Coferece Call To coect a secod party to a call i progress, press CONFERENCE. You ll hear a beep, ad see: Dial the secod party s umber. Whe the other party aswers, press CONFERENCE to have a three-way coversatio. 17

23 Programmig the Feature Buttos The Feature Buttos ca be programmed for special use, such as causig a Hook Flash followed by a special umber or fuctio. For example to program the TRANSFER butto for Hook Flash ad 9 for outside trasfers oly: Press MEMO. Press FLASH. Press 9. Press MEMO. Press TRANSFER. 18

24 FLASH (F1) Fuctio Keys Press oce to cause a Hook Flash while o a call. Press oce to program a Hook Flash i a Feature Butto. The FLASH LED lights mometarily while the Key is pressed. PAUSE (F2) Press oce to program a Pause while storig a umber i Memory. The PAUSE LED lights mometarily while the Key is pressed. REDIAL (F3) To dial the last umber called, press TALK, the F3 (REDIAL). The phoe will redial the last umber called. The REDIAL LED lights mometarily while the Key is pressed. SEARCH (F4) Press to begi Memory Search. (See the followig Sectio for Memory Search.) The SEARCH LED remais lit durig the Search operatio. 19

25 Usig Your ANA 9500 Memory Use these buttos to operate the ANA 9500 Memory R/VOL MUTE Storig a Number 1. Press MEMO. You will hear a beep, ad see the message: 2. Eter the umber (up to 16 digits) you wat to store. a. To program a Pause i the dialig sequece, press. b. To program a Hook Flash i the dialig sequece, press F1. 3. Press MEMO. You will see the message: 4. Eter the umber (01) -(20) for the memory locatio to store. You ll hear a cofirmatio beep ad see the message: Note: After pressig MEMO the secod time, you have 20 secods to eter the memory locatio. Otherwise, a error toe souds ad the uit returs to Stadby. 5. The ANA 9500 the returs to Stadby mode. 20

27 3. Eter the Memory Locatio (01-20) The phoe automatically dials the umber show. Memory Search You ca search all 20 Memory Locatios to fid the umber you eed. Oce you have foud the umber, you ca automatically dial that umber. 1. Press SEARCH (F4) 2. Press (VOL) to move to Memory Locatio 01. The IN USE/HOLD LED lights steadily wheever the Hadset is coected to a call. CHARGE BATT POWER CHARGE IN USE/HOLD PAGE/FIND Placig a Call O Hold 1. Press HOLD o the Base Uit. The IN USE/HOLD LED bliks, ad the call is o Hold. 2. To resume the call, press HOLD o the Base Uit, or press HOLD o the Hadset twice. The IN USE/HOLD LED lights steadily. Pagig the Hadset Press PAGE/FIND o the Base Uit to Page the Hadset for a call, or to fid the Hadset if it is misplaced. 24

30 Optioal Head Set (EXP9530) The optioal Head Set provides a Hads-Free Optio for the ANA With the Head Set istalled, you ca use the Belt Clip to carry the Hadset, ad coduct a coversatio usig the Head Set. To istall the optioal Head Set, ope the cover over the HEAD SET Jack ad plug the Head Set i. No other settigs are eeded. Operatio of the ANA 9500 usig the Head Set is exactly the same as usig the Hadset. However, you will hear through the Head Set earphoe, ad talk through the Head Set microphoe. The Hadset earphoe ad microphoe (mouthpiece) are discoected. 25

Typical Applicatios You ca use the ANA 9500 together with a stadard PBX telephoe to give you effective busiess commuicatios both at your desk ad away from it. Cotact your PBX Admiistrator for more iformatio about your System. You ca have your PBX system programmed so the followig sequece occurs: 1. Your PBX telephoe rigs first. 2. If you do t aswer the PBX telephoe after a set umber of rigs, the call is automatically trasferred to the ANA If you do t aswer the call after a set umber of rigs, it is automatically trasferred to your Voice Mail. 35 Trouble Shootig If your ANA 9500 Cordless Telephoe is ot performig to your expectatios, please try these simple steps. If you are still uable to resolve the problems, cotact your PBX Admiistrator. Note: Do ot attempt to service this uit yourself. All service must be doe by qualified service persoel. Problem Charge light wo t come o whe Hadset is placed i Base Uit. Coversatio iterrupted frequetly. Warig toe ad NO SERVICE message. Hadset does t rig. Suggestio Make sure the AC Adapter is plugged ito the Base Uit ad wall outlet. Make sure Hadset is properly seated i Base Uit. Make sure the Nickel-Cadmium Battery Pack is properly placed o the Hadset. Make sure that the chargig cotacts o the Hadset ad Base Uit are clea. Make sure that the Base Uit atea is fully vertical. Move closer to the Base Uit. Check for LOW BAT warig. Move closer to the Base Uit. Nickel-Cadmium Battery may be weak. Charge the Battery Pack for 8-10 hours. Check the Riger Alert settig. It may be o RING OFF without the optioal Vibrator Alert istalled. Make sure the Base Uit atea is fully vertical.
