2 Cards Cards This sectio provides the basic iformatio you eed to coect cables to the faceplates of circuit cards that are istalled i the system. Additioal steps may be required for some cable coectios. The followig table provides the circuit card capacity of each Lucet Ituity system. These cords provide three lies for telephoe hook-up. You ca coect tip/rig circuit cards to telephoe lies i several ways, depedig o your system: Direct cable coectio from the circuit card to the telephoe lie (for use with the MAP/5P ad MAP/40P) Cable coectio from the circuit card through a lie splitter or adapter ad the to the telephoe lie Cable coectio usig a tip/rig distributio pael to the telephoe lie (for use with the MAP/100P) Direct Cable Coectio Click the graphic for a larger view. Whe you use a two-coductor modular cord to make a direct coectio from either of the two tip/rig circuit card jacks to the telephoe lie, oly lie 1 or lie 4 of the three telephoe lies is coected. 4 adcv356t LJK Cards Cable Coectio Usig a Adapter Adapters or lie splitters eable you to use multiple chaels i modular cords. There are two types of adapters: 855A (for use with the MAP/5P ad MAP/40P) 356B (for use with the MAP/40P ad MAP/100P) 855A Adapter Click the graphic for a larger view. 885A Adapter with a Tip/Rig Circuit Card If you use the 855A adapter to coect the tip/rig circuit card to the telephoe lie, you ca use all three chaels i the 6-pi-coductor modular cord. NOTE: Record the circuit card slot umber ad telephoe extesio umbers o the 885A adapter. 356B Adapter 356B Adapter If you use the 356B adapter to coect the tip/rig circuit card to the telephoe lie, you ca use eight 6-pi-coductor modular cords. 5 Cards Cable Coectio Usig a Tip/Rig Distributio Pael You ca use a tip/rig distributio pael o the MAP/100P. The distributio pael is located o the back of the uit. This pael provides a simplified wirig scheme for coectig to the local customer-premise equipmet or buildig coectig block provided by the cetral office. This pael allows you to coect a maximum of 42 chaels (up to seve tip/rig circuit cards). NOTE: The MAP/40P ships with a 356B adapter that coects the tip/rig circuit card to the telephoe lie. MAP/100P Tip/Rig Distributio Pael Deskside Cofiguratio The MAP/100P system is shipped with a tip/rig distributio pael. This pael is located o the back of the chassis. This pael provides a simplified wirig scheme for coectig to the local customer-premise equipmet or buildig coectig block provided by the cetral office. You ca coect up to 48 chaels usig this pael. To coect the tip/rig distributio pael: 1. Plug the 18-ich (46-cetimeter), 6-pi modular cords from the tip/rig circuit cards ito the 356B adapters. Each adapter ca accommodate eight modular cords. 2. Usig the coector provided, attach the 25-pair, high-desity cable to the 356B adapter. Cotiue, press PAGE DOWN. BRAKTISO Cards - 5

6 sci012 RPY MAP/100P Tip/Rig Distributio Pael Rack-Mouted Cofiguratio Cards 3. Sap the 356B adapters ito the adapter bracket. Esure that the modular cords are iside the adapter bracket. NOTE: The 356B adapters ca be removed by spreadig the bracket sides apart. CAUTION: I a deskside cofiguratio, the 25-pair, high-desity cables dress dow from the adapter brackets. I a rack-mouted cofiguratio, the cables dress across each other to either side of the MAP/100P. I the rack-mouted cofiguratio, the cables must be tied back ad up to the rear of the cabiet to reduce coector stress. 4. Coect the groudig wire ad strap to the top of the adapter bracket. 5. Secure the 25-pi cable coector to the 356B adapter usig the cable ties provided with the adapter kit. Differet cable legths are available. See Orderig Cables to fid out which cables are available for the MAP/100P. See Piouts for Tip/Rig Circuit Cards if you eed wirig ad piout coectios for the tip/rig distributio hardware. 7 Coectig Asychroous Devices Cards There are two ways to coect the system to a termial, modem, or other DTE or DCE devices through a asychroous lik: Usig asychroous port COM1. COM1 is located o the CPU circuit card for MAP/40P ad MAP/100P systems, ad o the rear of the MAP/5P system. Usig the additioal asychroous ports o the optioal serial iterface circuit card. NOTE: All Lucet Ituity systems provide two asychroous ports, COM1 ad COM2. However, COM2 is reserved for Lucet remote maiteace ad is ot available to use for asychroous coectios. Usig COM1 A 9-pi D submiiature male coector is provided o the back of the system for COM1. This coector coects iterally to the CPU. See Piouts for Asychroous Coectios if you eed piout iformatio for the COM1 coector. NOTE: Networkig uses the ACCX circuit card, ot COM1. 8 Cards Usig the Super Serial Circuit Card The optioal serial iterface circuit card provides eight additioal asychroous ports for coectig to modems, termials, or switch itegratio devices. Each serial iterface circuit card is shipped with a octopus cable that coects to the circuit card faceplate ad braches out ito eight modular jacks. These jacks coect to two types of 25-pi D submiiature adapters. Click the graphic for a larger view. Super Serial Circuit Card Faceplate Use the followig adapters to coect peripheral devices to your system: A termial/priter adapter for coectio to termials, priters, or other DTE devices A modem adapter for coectio to modems or other DCE devices fpieqx LJK NOTE: These are special adapters that are customized for use with the serial iterface circuit card. DCIU Circuit Card Faceplate with Geder Chager Coector The DCIU circuit card coects the Lucet Ituity system to some Lucet switches. Oe DCIU circuit card ca be istalled i the system. Digital Statio Iterface Circuit Card Faceplate The digital statio iterface circuit card coects the Lucet Ituity system to Lucet switches. You ca istall oe digital statio iterface circuit card per system. A 3-foot (1-meter) octopus cable is provided with the digital statio iterface circuit card. Use the cable to coect from the customer statio jacks. NOTE: If customers use ROLM or Norther Telecom equipmet, their statio jacks are RJ-11, ot RJ-45. ACCX Circuit Card Faceplate The Lucet Ituity system supports up to eight etworkig chaels through digital ad aalog remote coectios from the ACCX circuit card usig DCP ad RS-232 liks, respectively. The followig table shows the maximum umber of ACCX circuit cards supported per system. 12 h2cvbob1 LJK Cards Each ACCX circuit card termiates four data chaels i oe of the followig combiatios: Two DCP lies, each providig two I-chaels. Depedig o the versio of the switch to which you are coectig, you may oly be able to use oe of the two I-chaels of each DCP circuit: System 75 R1V3, DEFINITY G1 R1V4, ad DEFINITY G3i, G3s, or G3vs Versio 1 support the use of oe I-chael oly. System 85, DEFINITY G2, ad DEFINITY G3i, G3s, ad G3vs Versio 2 support the use of both of the I-chaels. Click the graphic for a larger view. RS-232 Coectios o a Breakout Box NOTE: For DEFINITY G3i, G3s, ad G3vs, this optio must be istalled ad admiistered o the switch before you perform Lucet Ituity system admiistratio. Four RS-232 ports Oe DCP lie (two I-chaels) ad two RS-232 ports A breakout box ad a cable are provided with each ACCX circuit card. Use the cable to coect from the circuit card to the breakout box. 14 Coectig the LAN Circuit Card Cards Click the graphic for a larger view. LAN Circuit Card Faceplate The LAN circuit card provides the coectio to the customer s LAN. The type of cable you use to coect the LAN circuit card to the customer s LAN depeds o the coectio already i use for the LAN. This cable coectio ca be oe of three types: Thi Etheret (BNC) Thick Etheret (AUI) 8-pi modular coector (Tbase or twisted pair) CAUTION: Do ot cable the LAN circuit card before you power up. SSP Circuit Card Faceplate The speech ad sigal processor (SSP) circuit card (AYC43) provides speech support for various speech techologies. See SSP Circuit Card Faceplate for a figure of the SSP circuit card. The SSP circuit card must be used with at least oe tip/rig circuit card.
