2 ALCATEL OmniPCX Enterprise R6.1 ALCATEL OmniPCX Enterprise R6.1 : A user centric release introducing a complete new phone generation The introduction of the release 6.1 of the OmniPCX Enterprise is the continuation and the reinforcement of the decisive evolution, initiated with OmniPCX Enterprise R6.0, of traditional business telephony services towards the era of Interactive Communication Solutions for enterprises The Release 6.1 introduces new ranges of full-featured desktop phones so called Alcatel 8 series and Alcatel 9 series and a smart display add-on module. These new ranges give easy access to a large set of communication services, increasing employees efficiency, comfort and satisfaction thanks to enhanced ergonomics, an outstanding audio quality and a total openness towards business applications thanks to an XML interface (only on Alcatel 8 series ). 1. OmniPCX Enterprise R6.1 evolutions A new phones generation for IP & traditional TDM environments : Alcatel 8 and 9 series Alcatel has launched a range of new full-featured desktop phones : Enriching the today Alcatel desktop phone portfolio, Answering new end-users communication needs: user-friendly ergonomics, alternative design, enhanced audio quality, open to business applications, The 8-series are IP phones connectable directly on the IP network and the 9-series are TDM phones connected on the traditional telephony network. The equivalent phones in each line (4018 and 4019 for example) have the same characteristics and ergonomics but the application openness is available today on the 8-series only. With these new phone series, Alcatel introduces also a smart display add-on module. The Alcatel 8 series includes 4 sets with two new phones (4018, 4028), and two packages with a 10 keys add module mounted (on 4038 & 4028 sets)

3 The Alcatel 9 series includes three new phones (4019, 4029, 4039), and two packages with a 10 keys add module mounted (on 4039 & 4029 sets) The Smart Display add-on module extends the capabilities of the phones with 14 additional direct access buttons and a large LCD display which allows for quick and easy paperless identification of associated buttons. The Smart display module is available on all the range (both 8 and 9 series) except on 4018 and It is possible to install up to 3 smart display modules on one phone. It is not possible to mix Smart display modules with 10-key and 40 key modules. The new phones and the smart display module are compatible with OmniPCX Enterprise from release 6.1. Alcatel 4038 and 4068 are already compatible from OmniPCX Enterprise release 6.0. Alcatel 4018 and 4019 will be available in release (Q3/2005). For previous releases, you have to upgrade the software of your system to manage these new phones ranges. The 9 series come as the complement of the existing Alcatel Reflexes series, constituting a complete range of desktop professional phones, covering all customers profiles from entryrange to prestigious needs. 4 The Alcatel Voice over Wireless Lan offer The Release 6.1 continues to promote the Alcatel Voice over Wireless LAN offer which targets enterprises requesting a converged IP infrastructure for both voice and data to reduce theirs TCO. For the data infrastructure, this offer relies on Alcatel OmniAccess Wireless data portfolio (appliances, switches, access points ). For the voice, the Alcatel Mobile phones allow enterprises to take advantage of the cost savings and simplified management of a converged voice and data infrastructure to significantly improve employee mobility, responsiveness, and productivity. The Alcatel Mobile are fully integrated with Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise and offer a set of communication services available during conversations or from idle. Those services are easily activated by the user in order to improve the communication capability in business environments. Alcatel Mobile 300 Alcatel Mobile 600 System services : Highest system availability & security Besides supporting major benefits with the introduction of the new 8 and 9 series, the OmniPCX Enterprise 6.1 also brings a set of enhancements regarding system availability & security and user services. For availability & security: it introduces Spatial redundancy over different IP subnets Backup signaling & automatic private to public voice overflow SSL protocol to secure http sessions between OmniPCX Enterprise and Web management tools (Authentification & secured HTTP flow (HTTPS) ). For user service : it introduces The management of the 8 and 9 series with a new graphical user interface. New user-centric features as the Multiple redial list, the Event list gathering last caller, unanswered calls list and calls sent list the Cyrillic characters
