Training will be held during the week of June th 2012, in Daytona Beach. Classes begin on Monday at 12:00 P.M. and end on Thursday at 12:00 P.M. In order to conform to the 4 day 10 hour summer work schedule followed by most districts, classes will start at 7am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and they will end at 6 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The workshops will provide service and troubleshooting training in both classroom and hands-on settings. These trainings are beneficial to technicians and inspectors. A parts and warranty class may be added if enough districts register for the class. The cost for all participants is $ per person and includes tuition, registration fees, supplies, and some meals (does not include lodging). Class reservations will be received on a first come, first serve basis. Upon reservation processing a participant packet including confirmation, invoice, map(s), group assignments, and information about the facilities and surrounding areas will be sent out four (4) weeks prior to the workshops. 2 NOTE: Final payment must be received by May 22, All payment information will be provided with the confirmation packets. Using the enclosed registration form, Districts must choose the following course track for each registered participant: Group 1, 2 or 3: 25 Hour OEM training and Monday afternoon topic (A-H please pick a 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd choice) Group 4: 30 hours of OEM Parts training Testing (one test per participant is included) Because we must guarantee student count, there are NO refunds for cancellations; however, substitutions can be made prior to the start of the workshop. Participants will receive a certificate of completion from the FAPT and an opportunity to receive FAPT testing. Additionally, some companies that provide training may award certificates of completion for individual classes. FAPT Vehicle Service Technician, Master Repair Technician, and Parts Specialist Certification tests will be given on Monday and Tuesday evening starting at 7:00 P.M. One test session per participant is included with tuition. Workshop non-participants, participants who wish to take additional tests, or take a retest may do so for $15.00 per test. Additionally, Florida School Bus Safety Inspector Certification hands-on testing will be available. Please follow instructions on the attached School Bus Inspector Hands-On Testing Registration Form. 3 2012 Program Overview June 25-28th, 2012 Monday Classes for Groups 1, 2 & 3 Workshops participants, who are NOT enrolled in Group 4 (Parts) will choose from one of the following for Monday afternoon class (2 nd & 3 rd Choice if selected class is full): A. Allison Transmission B. Video Systems C. Basic Electrical D. MCC (Carrier) Air E. ACC Air F. Rifled air G. Braun Lifts H. Ricon Lifts Group 1 (IC) 25 hours of intensive hands-on diagnostic troubleshooting and repair for International IC Buses including engine, chassis, driveline, body and electrical. Group 2 (Thomas) 25 hours of intensive hands-on diagnostic troubleshooting and repair for Thomas Buses including engine, chassis, driveline, body and electrical. Group 3 (BlueBird) 25 hours of intensive hands-on diagnostic troubleshooting and repair for Blue Bird Buses including Cummins engine, Bluebird chassis, driveline, body and electrical. Group 4 (Parts) 30 hours of OEM parts and warranty systems training including computer labs, ordering, shipping and storage. 4 School Bus Inspector Hands-On Testing Registration Form This hands-on testing is available for workshop participants and non-participants. Both must complete this form and fax, or it to Katrina Bond by May 30, 2012, to: Katrina Bond 325 West Gaines Street, #1134 Tallahassee, Florida FAX: (850) All candidates for hands-on testing must meet all qualifications as outlined in the 2008 Florida School Bus Safety Inspection Manual, must have received the specified training. Additionally, each candidate must bring a properly completed Inspection Certification Application and driver s license to the test site. Dates/Locations: June 25-28, 2012, Daytona Time: Workshop non-participants (walk-ins) will be tested between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Walkins must contact Katrina Bond by May 30, 2012, at (850) , for an assigned date and time slot. Workshop participants will be called out of class and tested at various times during the three days. There will be a $50 test fee per applicant. NOTE: The hands-on testing process takes approximately two hours. There will be four testing sessions per day.
