The last date to meet the requirements is 31 December Purpose This certificate is awarded to people who have demonstrated competence to coach riders up to novice level, train horses, manage the care of horses, manage first aid in emergency situations, communicate information and have knowledge of basic nutrition needs. The elective section of this qualification provides the opportunity to specialise in either dressage or jumping disciplines. This qualification builds on from the National Certificate in Equine (Community Coach) (Level 3) [Ref: 0655]. However, that qualification is not a prerequisite for this qualification. Replacement Information This qualification has been replaced by the National Certificate in Equine (Coaching) (Level 4) with strands in Dressage, Showjumping, and Eventing [Ref: 1604]. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) website: Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). Any version of a standard with the same ID may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the ID and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard.

This qualification has been replaced by the National Certificate in Equine (Coaching) (Level 4) with strands in Dressage, Showjumping, and Eventing [Ref: 1604]. For detailed information see Review Summaries on the NZQA website. This qualification contains standards that have been replaced by later standards. Reverse transition has been included in this qualification, and people can complete the qualification using either expiring standards or replacement standards. For the purpose of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the replacement standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the expiring standards see table below. Changes to structure and content expired standard 5361 was replaced by standards and total credit requirements increased from 137 to 146 the planned review date was extended from 2008 to People currently working towards version 4 of this qualification may either complete the requirements of that version or transfer their results to version 5 of the qualification. The start date for training programmes for version 5 of the qualification, and the last date for entry to training programmes for version 4, are the same as the registration date for version 5 of this qualification (May 2009). This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards see table below. Credit for Exempt from , It is anticipated that no existing candidates are disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, candidates may appeal in the first instance to Primary Industry Training Organisation, which will consider any appeal on a case by case basis. Version 4 was reviewed and reissued as part of an overall Equine qualification review. To offer more flexibility and scope and opportunity to specialise, a dressage and jumping elective was introduced to this qualification. Version 3 was issued to reflect the removal of standard Other changes included the updating of the names of standard setting bodies as well as the title of standard Version 2 was issued in order to amend and correct the title and credit value of standard Version 1 of this qualification and the National Certificate in Equine (Community Coach) [Ref: 0655], jointly replaced the National Certificate in Equine (Coaching) with strands in New Zealand Equestrian Federation Community Coach and New Zealand Pony Club Association Senior Instructor [Ref: 0252], and the National Certificate in Equine (Intermediate Instructor) [Ref: 0267]. The transition period has expired and the final date for the award of the replaced qualifications was 31 December 2000.

Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards. Accreditation requirements and the moderation system are outlined in the associated Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) for each standard.
