2 Two very special highlights: The new AC 700F controller for extended scalability towards PLCs Different solutions are used in automation depending on the task at hand ranging from simple controllers (PLCs) through to complex process control systems. The area between factory automation and process automation referred to as the hybrid market is currently being approached from both sides. PLC controllers are becoming more powerful and can therefore also manage more complex tasks. Control systems are increasingly used for small to medium-sized plants. This trend is supported by Freelance 800F, as its performance is also becoming available for PLCs. To this end, the new AC 700F controller is integrated into the system.

3 Even more possibilities for information management The information management tool collect process data from the Freelance 800F system over several years. The server polls the data and stores information such as the following in the process database: Signal descriptions Current and historical values Messages Detailed status information The information management clients form the user interface and retrieve process data from the database. Numerous functions are available for evaluating process status information. Messages from a wide range of sources are presented in a clear manner in lists by means of appropriate filtering. Comments and information links for texts, Internet links or program calls lay the foundations for transparent incident analysis. Another powerful feature is trend representation with an unlimited number of signals, automatic scaling, legends, and database functions such as average, maximum, minimum, differential and integral values. A user-friendly environment supports simple configuration procedures. Information management functions were already available in Freelance 800F before now. Up to six tracks can be recorded in the trend display. The storage period for the recorded data can be set, for instance to one year, after which recording starts over again. The recorded data can be automatically archived and saved as an Excel file for further processing and evaluation. For many applications, this basic functionality is fully sufficient. Excel add-ins for reporting enable immediate or time-controlled generation of hourly, shiftspecific, daily, monthly or yearly reports. The system can be made fail-safe through a redundant database design and by means of buffering the control system connections to bridge any network interruptions. The new Freelance 800F Version offers advanced functions. The new option is based on a tool called PGIM using a client/server architecture.

4 Size Process automation System 800xA The new, highly compact AC 700F controller allows extended scalability towards the PLC. AC 700F is based on hardware that has been successfully used in practice for years. In addition, it is integrated into the Freelance 800F system in the same way as the AC 800F controller. Compared to a real PLC, the AC 700F controller has numerous advantages The integrated process control system solution simplifies engineering, which is particularly efficient in the case of AC 800F. The same function blocks are available.
