Metra inženiring d.o.o. can assume no responsibility for any errors in this manual. Product description Metra Lock Driver 8 is used in different Metra Electronic Locking Systems. Device drives and monitors Metra Electronic Locks. Up to 8 locks can be connected to the unit. Locker Controller also supports emergency and security features. A pushbutton for emergency opening of all Lockers connected to the Locker Controllers is fitted on the controller board. In case of attempt of break-in an alarm message is distributed over Metra EasyWire and Metra NET Network to Metra user interface devices and over Metra Network Controller to LAN / WAN and Metra software. Metra EasyWire connection Up to 8/16 MEW slave devices (MEW Reader Terminals, Lock Drivers, etc.) can be connected to one controller board. Lock Drivers 8 are connected directly to the Metra EasyWire main line with 3 pole cable. Lock Driver 8 also has two 6 pole Metra EasyWire connectors which can be used to connect a user interface device such as MEW Reader Terminal. See also appropriate application manual for a specific wiring scheme(s). Page 4

5 Connect the Metra EasyWire 3 wire main line to one of the 3 pole terminals marked LIN. Connect an additional Metra EasyWire device such as MEW Reader Terminal to one of the 6 pole terminals marked LIN. Connecting Electronic Locks Connect Electronic Locks using 6 wire flat cables. Maximum length of each cable is 20 meters. Cables from Electronic Locks with lower locker numbers must be connected to lower index connector. Locker number is increasing from left to right (blue arrows)! Mind ascending order when numerating lockers. Gaps between numbers are allowed. EXAMPLE: Most left connector (index 1) is locker number 161, most right connector (index 8) is locker number 198. Page 5

6 DIP switch settings # description 1 Metra EasyWire index DIP switch By changing the DIP Switch pins position, different EasyWire index can be set. To change between different pins positions, use a small flat headed screwdriver or similar object to push DIP switch pins to desired position. After each index change or after device s first installation power off and back on the Controller board (for the new settings to take effect) and obtain operating parameters. NOTE Network based functionality will be present only if the server is running and the Reader Terminal and Controller board were properly configured EasyWire index After installation is complete, the device s EasyWire index must be set by DIP switches. NOTE Each Metra MEW slave device connected to the same Controller board must have different index setting. Look up the code for desired index in the coding table. Set switches #1 through #4 to indicated positions, where: 0 indicates the corresponding switch is in OFF position (switch down) 1 indicates the corresponding switch is in ON position (switch up) Page 6

Blinking rapidly when there is no Metra EasyWire communication. Electronic lock motor operation When power is applied to any of the electronic lock connectors red LED is ON. Tamper sensor For additional security device s housing is equipped with a tamper sensor. Removing the lid triggers an alarm. White LED in ON when the lid is in place. Page 7

8 Maintenance No special maintenance is needed. The maintenance people should check the device operation at least once a year. NOTE Direct spraying or splashing water can cause damage to Locker Controller or Electric Locks! Troubleshooting Guide trouble explanation / solution Locker door closed while locking and nothing happens. Adjust the door strike. Check the Electric Lock. Replace the Electric Lock if necessary.
