2 Types of Disconnect Tools Offered From left to right: The first tool is the ADT Mod. CF. It is to be utilized when your gun system is comprised of Control Fire Switches. It can also be utilized implementing any other addressable switch as long as it is not physically part of the detonator. Such as the ICSI EB Compatible Addressable Switch. Also the Owens Addressable Switch as well as Probe Addressable Switch along with the Schlumberger Addressable Switch and several more. The tool is 36 long X 2-3/4 in diameter and mounts between the CCL and the Quick Change. The Second tool is the Mod. DE tool. This tool is to be utilized when your gun system is made up of Dynaergetics Addressable Detonator Switches. It is 30 long and 2-3/4 in diameter. It also mounts between the CCL and the Quick Change.

3 How the Tools Work These tools are ballistic tools. They utilize an A-105 Detonator for a Model CF ADT and a Model DE ADT has a Dyna Energetics Select Detonator. The detonator, and only the detonator, is used. No primacord or explosives other than the detonator is used. When the decision is made to disconnect, an addressable code is sent to the addressable switch, then current is supplied to a detonator. The detonator is exploded spreading an expansion collar and severing an equalizing plug and releasing the Fishing Neck that is attached to the Fish.

4 Attributes of the Tool These Tools can be lifted with any tool string that your CCL can be lifted with, without a sleeve or lifting assist. They need no Shock Sub and can take any shock your CCL can handle. They are rated to 22,000 psi. The temperature rating is limited only by it's addressable switch. The tool is pull rated to 18,000 lbs. and it's weak point is at the Separation Collar. However, when the tool is in the well under hydrostatic pressure, the Separation Collar has no weight or compression on it due to the design of the tool. There are no other explosives other than the detonator in the device. No primacord or attached explosives.

5 Explanation of How The Tool Is Lowered In The Well From right to left, the tool as photographed, the right hand side (CCL Adaptor) will be threaded into the CCL. The Left hand side of the tool, where the vise is attached, the Quick Change will be threaded into the Quick Change Adaptor.

6 Addressable Switch Placement For CF Model To Install Addressable Switches on the CF Model, the CCL Adaptor is unthreaded exposing the switch cavity in the Switch Housing. The Switch Holder that the Switch is mounted to is then placed into the Keyed Switch Cavity. As shown in the photograph, the bottom switch has a Control Fire Addressable Switch mounted into the Switch Holder. Above the CF Switch, is the ICSI Addressable Switch that is utilized for an EB Pressure Switch System. Either switch can go into the cavity and be utilized in the tool as well as a host of other Addressable Switches.

7 Viewing The Switch Housing for the "CF" Model As shown in the photograph, the Switch Housing is threaded into the Actuator Sub and has Kemlon Sealing Connectors that protect the switches from exposure to wellbore fluids and any debris from the detonator after detonation of the detonator.

8 Viewing the Placement of the "DE" CCL Adaptor On the Model DE version, there is no Switch Housing. The CCL Adaptor threads straight into the Actuator Sub. As shown on the end of the CCL Adaptor, there is a protective cover for the single Kemlon Connector that protects the Kemlon Boot from being unplugged. A Kemlon Connector protects the CCL from Wellbore fluids after the release of the Fishing Neck.

9 Placement of the Detonator in the Actuator Body After removing the Hydrostatic Equalizing Plug in the Coupling Sleeve, the Sleeve is slid back to expose the detonator chamber. A detonator is then inserted into the chamber and seated against the Separation Collar (that will be viewed on the next slide.) A Teflon gate is then inserted behind the detonator to lock it in place. *All client company policies dealing with wiring detonators need to be strictly followed as well as API rule #67.

10 Explanation of Placement of Separation Collar and Slide Stud Adaptor (Rotation of the Tool in this slide and later slides show the CCL adaptor on the left and quick change adaptor on the right.) As shown in the first photograph, the Separation Collar, Shear Ring, and Slide Stud Assembly is viewed above and is shown out of its placement in the center of the Actuator. The Separation collar is threaded into the Actuator and the Slide Stud is threaded into the Fishing Neck to Slide Stud Adaptor that is attached to the Fishing Neck. The second photograph is of the Slide Stud, Shear Ring, Separation Collar Assembly as assembled with the Fishing Neck to Slide Stud Adapter. When The Detonator is fired, the Separation Collar is parted from the Slide Stud. At the same time, force from the detonator propels the Shear Sleeve forward on the Slide Stud and shears the end off of the Hydrostatic Equalizing Plug. This causes the tool to flood and equalization of hydrostatic pressure is achieved. The Hydrostatic Equalizing Plug is viewed on a later slide.

11 Separation Collar after Detonator This photograph shows how the Separation Collar is parted due to the explosion of the Detonator. The Slide Stud is then freed from the attachment to the Separation Collar and allowing only hydrostatic pressure to keep the device attached.

12 Hydrostatic Equalizing Plug Viewed is the Hydrostatic Equalizing Plug after it is removed from the Coupling Sleeve. This plug has to be removed before rotating or threading the Coupling Sleeve. The HEP has a bore in it's center that does not go all the way through the plug, but the bore is terminated just past where the end will be sheared off by the Shear Ring when the detonator is detonated. This will allow the wellbore fluid into the Disconnect Tool.

13 Fishing Neck Shown as it would be left in the Well after the Disconnect. When the tool is detonated, the 2 Fishing Neck is left in the well attached to the Quick Change Adaptor. The Coupling Sleeve, Actuator Sub, Switch Housing, (if utilizing the CF Version), and the CCL Adaptor are all brought out of the well with the CCL attached to the Wireline.
