5 Project Profiles NYCT and M-Series Car Procurements; New York City For over four decades, LTK has assisted Metro-north Railroad, Long Island Rail Road and the connecticut Department of transportation in the procurement of electric Multiple Unit (emu) rail cars. this involvement spans multiple procurement programs with multiple car-builders and totals 3084 cars and counting. LTK has also served as the primary rail vehicle consultant to New York City transit since Core responsibilities have included: development of technical specifications and commercial terms, assistance in car-builder selections and negotiations, design review, systems integration, production and testing oversight, inspection, and commissioning for service. LTK s innovative work continues with the latest program, the procurement of the first NYCT cars to be equipped with Communications Based Train Control technology. Sydney CBD Metro; Sydney NDY was engaged as part of the Metone bid to provide engineering services for the tender design of the Integrated Metro operation component of the $4.8 billion Sydney CBD Metro. the project involved 6 underground stations with shell for 7th station, 13km of twin underground track and stabling & Maintenance Facilities with NDY providing a vast array of specialised services including: tunnel ventilation including ses modeling, Fire engineering including smoke ventilation, CFD modelling, and egress modeling, hv and Lv electrical Reticulation, including 6 substations, acoustics, lighting and power, security, communications and a range of other services. Aside from developing practical, efficient & low carbon emission design solutions, NDY provided the lead role on services Design and directly liaised with the proposed operators and rolling stock stakeholders. TriMet; Portland, Oregon One of the greatest beneficiaries of LTK s systems engineering and light rail vehicle skills is TriMet, the transit operator in Portland, Oregon. Over the past quarter century and across several major projects, LTK has played a pivotal ole in assisting TriMet in building a light rail system that has earned international acclaim. LTK fulfilled major systems engineering roles in the original Banfield Corridor Light Rail Project and 8 subsequent expansion and line extension projects. throughout this period, LTK has continuously served as trimet s consultant for systems engineering and vehicles. this level of continuous client service is indicative of LTK s focus on delivering projects on time and on budget, while maintaining responsiveness to environmental and community concerns. Firm experts assisted with design and construction management of rolling stock, operations and maintenance facilities, signalling, train control, control centers, traction power substations, overhead contact systems and fare collection systems. Nebo Rail Maintenance Facility; Nebo, Queensland NDY is engaged as part of the Pacific National Infrastructure Alliance to provide engineering services in the design of electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Fire and hydraulics systems of the new Nebo Rail Maintenance Facility. Pacific National propose to construct a rail provisioning and maintenance facility approximately 10kms south of Nebo. Pacific National operates bulk and intermodal services throughout Australia and commenced train operation on Queensland s north coast Line in Pacific National has identified commercial opportunities in the Queensland market for the haulage of coal in the Goonyella rail system to the port of hay Point. To support the operations of the locomotives and rolling stock, Pacific National has identified the need for maintenance & provisioning facilities in the Goonyella rail systems.
