What is a Smart Community? 7
Mega Trends - IoT An estimated 200 million devices were connected to the Internet in By 2012, that number had increased to 10 billion. There are more objects connected to the internet than there are people. By 2020, there will be 50 Billion connected devices. 8
Mega Trends 70% Of the world s population are expected to live in cities by % Of greenhouse gas emissions globally come from buildings. 9
Mega Trends 50% Of today s workforce is made up of millennials. Therefore making up a large portion on income and sales tax revenues. 81% Of millennials do not live in the same town where they grew up. They are mobile, flexible, educated and selective of their city of choice. 10

Intelligent Space Scheduling Use Case Students and staff will be able to utilize their phone or PC to schedule available spaces for meetings and send meeting location to group. Scheduling Portal Scheduling Server SWITCH Virtual Machines (BAS, Access Control, Lighting) Energy Manager Services The application will populate a list of spaces (giving preference to spaces recently occupied). The user can also search by occupant count or location and reserve the space. Facilities can specify which spaces are available based on time of day or maintenance schedules. Local HVAC Lighting System IT Plug Load RACK Data Center If necessary the access badge of the occupants will be granted temporary access to the building or space. Enabling Technologies Metrics Outcomes Upon meeting start time, the relevant systems will go to occupied mode. Occupancy sensors will release space if no one attends within 15 minutes of scheduled time. Schedule Management Software Access Control Audio Visual Building Automation Lighting IT Plug load Space utilization Space availability District revenue User feedback & experience Facility self-service capabilities Increased facility utilization Increased student satisfaction and performance 18
Integrated Maintenance Platform Use Case Maintenance Management Portal MMS Server SWITCH Virtual Machines (BAS, Audio Visual, Lighting) IT Management Software A campus-wide view of connected systems from a single user interface enhances the ability to monitor and manage preventative and reactive systems maintenance. When an alert is triggered or condition is met (e.g. run-hours), the maintenance notification system automatically schedules a maintenance task, alerting the facility staff via a dedicated address. Local Audio Visual Elevator HVAC Lighting System IT Devices RACK Data Center If a space is deemed unable to be used it will be removed from the intelligent space scheduling application. Enabling Technologies Building Automation Elevators IT Devices Lighting Classroom A/V Maintenance Management Software Metrics Systems uptime Unplanned Service Calls Deferred maintenance Outcomes Increased systems uptime Increased operational efficiency Minimized disruptions to learning environment Enhanced facility staff productivity 19
Office Space Shutdown Use Case Access Control Occ Sensor Location Services OCCUPANCY SOURCES HVAC Lighting System IT Plug Load SWITCH Virtual Machines (BAS, Access Control, Lighting) RACK Energy Manager Services Mobility Services Engine Occupancy within a space will be detected via occupancy sensors, access control, or location services. In addition to occupancy sensors putting lighting, HVAC, and AV into unoccupied mode certain IT systems (WAP, Monitors, Printers). Can be put in standby mode as well reducing residual plug load. If occupancy is detected the IT systems can be reenabled alongside the building systems. Local Data Center Enabling Technologies Metrics Outcomes Access Control Audio Visual Building Automation Lighting IT Plug Load Network Equipment Location Services Energy per SQFT Equipment Runtime Energy Savings Decreased Building System Runtime Increased control of building systems 20
Intelligent Security Response Use Case SECURITY DASHBOARD SWITCH Virtual Machines (BAS, Access Control, Audio Visual, Lighting, Video Surveillance) In a security event the building systems respond to provide a secure environment for students and professors. The access control locks down areas in the vicinity of the event, lighting changes color in class rooms and offices to indicate the event type. Local Video Surveillance HVAC Lighting System Access Control Unified Communications Public Announcement RACK Data Center The digital signage within the space and surrounding buildings will display details related to the event. The public annunciation system will broadcast a security notification and the DAS/Wi-Fi system will send alerts to cellular devices on campus. Enabling Technologies Access Control Video Surveillance Lighting Unified Communications Digital Signage Classroom A/V Public Announcement Location Services Metrics Incident response time Occupant satisfaction rate Time to access security data Outcomes Improved occupant safety Increased occupant satisfaction Increased security event notification speed 21
What common needs drive Smart Campuses / Campus Optimization? Less state government funding is causing campus s to look for alternative revenue streams There is a consistent pressure to reduce the cost of education New educational models delivered online are changing on-campus populations Space utilization standards are now measured with the goal of increasing building occupancy Campus Safety College presidents are making climate commitments Energy dashboard competitions Attracting students Operations productivity and the aging workforce is forcing automation Colleges optimize their campus to serve their students. Lower operating costs to make college more affordable, create a safe and healthy learning environment, and be a better steward of the environment. 22
