2 IoT sensors and the Great Privacy Debate: Will GDPR, MLAT and new cross-country privacy powers of law enforcement access to digital evidence change our world? Facial recognition: Will this be privacy advocate s next target. Biometric solutions will improve security in the coming year on everything from school security to mobile device access. Speech Recognition and Acoustic Signatures: Will this be a potential failure point in progressive security solutions? What will privacy advocates say about this? Drones: It's not a surprise drones continually make the list of top tech trends. Is evidence obtained by a drone admissible? Can a drone used as a weapon be shot down? Is piloting a drone with a valuable first responder an issue?

3 Is Big Data now BAD DATA? Data from uncalibrated, low-cost IoT sensors or even video surveillance on a congested network may be a data dead end. What s the solution? More sensors? Better software that allows us to ingest everything and analyze later?

4 Smart Cities or dumb IoT? Many smart cities deal with traffic on highways, yet rely solely on private user data for downtown and dense urban areas. What would happen if there were widespread 4G outages? Can you imagine, for example, not having to search for a parking space because you know where all the open spots are? However can those LoWaRa (Low power wide area network radio devices) be hacked?

5 Rescue me with IoT? Entry Screening, Ballistic Detection, Automated Lockdown/Free Egress Can we harden our schools and facilities economically using IoT? How well can we sense the madmen? Lockdown systems don t have to keep children from escaping from areas with no active assailant. Battery technology in IoT access control reduce costs. Legacy gunshot detection vs IoT ballistic sensors what will succeed? Is it better to have the man in the middle monitored system or be automated and deal with potential false alarms? Deploy gunshot detection built into IP Cameras or ultra-low power, wireless sensors?

6 IoT in Healthcare: can we improve patient safety and treatment? IoT is growing exponentially, especially in healthcare. Can we conform to HIPAA compliance and personal data, yet leverage an expanded sensor network? In healthcare facilities, there is superlative cyber hardening from outside intrusion attempts, but why can you often stream video from inside a patient s room to outside recipients? Bad data also happens: even in a hospital, a blood oxygen sensor clamped on a patient s finger can start giving bad data if it gets bumped into the wrong position. How can we get better at this?

7 Double Voltage: The Cyber Sense Act and Enhancing Grid Security through Public-Private Partnerships Act Promotes digitally secure products to be used in Critical Infrastructure, a testing process and a reporting process for vulnerabilities does our industry need this regulation? Goal: strengthen the electric utility system while building partnerships between DOE and industry relevant?
