2 Goals of the Overall Project Reconcile current Functional Class database with maps approved by FHWA; Design & build a GIS-based database, compatible with ADOT s existing GIS infrastructure; Document recommendations for reclassifications; Deploy the database and tools at ADOT for operations and maintenance.

3 Objectives for the Database and GIS Tools Relatively simple, but effective database solution; Map-based tools for adding, deleting, and updating functional classifications; Flexible, automated map generation; Comprehensive, yet cost-effective effective reporting mechanisms.

4 High-Level System Requirements Utilize existing street centerline file, its linear referencing system, and current GIS architecture; Ability to edit and maintain the database; Generate statistics, reports, and maps; Review, approve, and track pending changes; Determine effects of urban boundary changes
