Install and tune EDB Postgres Advanced Server (EPAS) on 3 servers Establish streaming replication between the 3 servers with one primary and two hot standbys Install and configure EDB Postgres Failover Manager (EFM) Install and configure EDB Postgres Enterprise Manager for monitoring and alerting according to EDB best practices Install and configure EDB Postgres Backup and Recovery Tool for backup/recovery management of Postgres databases Configure Write Ahead Log (WAL) shipping to supplement streaming replication and enable point in time recovery Conclusion: At the conclusion of the engagement, the EnterpriseDB team will then prepare a document what we have configured and the specific parameters used, in a Services Engagement Completion Report. 16 The Database Migration Assessment Tool (DMAT) is executed against the schema, performing a syntactical analysis, resulting in an in initial understanding of the relative compatibility between the customer schema and the Oracle features supported by EDB Postgres Advanced Server. Objects evaluated include: Database Links, Functions, Indexes, Procedures, Sequences, Tables, Views and Triggers. The EDB consultant looks for other known issues that may not be discovered by the automated tool. Review and Plan: EDB will analyze the findings in the auto-generated report from the Database Migration Assessment Tool. For each object that will not migrate automatically, we identify if a known solution exists in the EDB library currently a collection of 70 +proven scripts, tools and practices. We also discuss issues that cannot easily be revealed by the automated analysis which may warrant additional services to explore usage and potential alternatives. Conclusion: At the conclusion of the engagement, the EnterpriseDB team will review the findings make a recommendation for a path forward for migration. Pre-Requisites: The ability of EnterpriseDB to perform these services effectively depends on the following deliverables being performed by the customer before the engagement begins: Assign a Database Administrator(s) to assist EDB during the Services engagement. Access to Oracle schemas from the EDB Database Migration Assessment Tool (DMAT) for read only assessment of the schema structure (tables, triggers, views, functions, procedures, packages). The DMAT does not access application data. Designate a project sponsor to review and evaluate the migration assessment report and evaluate the plan. 4.2 MIGRATION ROADMAP (BULK DATABASE CLASSIFICATION) Get a clear view of your database migration path to EDB Postgres with the Migration Roadmap service. We will evaluate multiple schemas, associated with your applications that are in consideration for migration to the EDB Postgres platform. This service is designed for evaluation of a larger number of schemas to be evaluated. 17 Starting with the most compatible databases gives you early success and experience to build upon as you move towards larger transformation projects ENGAGEMENT PROCESS Initiation: A project kickoff is conducted with a service overview and a predefined task plan. Similar to a single migration assessment, we will perform a discovery process and intake some basic parameters of your existing set of databases including use cases. Beyond that we will gather details about the applications that access the schemas which are to be evaluated for porting to EDB Postgres Advanced Server, and will gather specific details about performance, uptime requirements, functional regression, known migration constraints, and maintenance requirements, as well. Urgent Consulting provides customers the opportunity to call on EDB for architecture, design and development expertise for a short-term basis. Once an order for Urgent Consulting is executed, EDB assigns an available and skilled resource to the project, and if required, other resources from EDB may also be utilized as needed. Urgent Consulting services are designed for short term needs. A minimum of 1 day and a maximum of 20 days can be purchased, and Days must be consumed on a contiguous basis. Consulting needs that require greater than 20 days of service must be SOW-based and be defined as Consulting Services Engagements with specific scope detailed in a SOW.
