3 A belated but big shout out goes to Carol Tompkins for procuring for us the Spinnaker Cove clubhouse, where we played our May Pedro Tournament. Thanks for both your time and your efforts, Carol! Repeated thanks also to ALL the organizers, who worked hard to make it such a success. Announcements Effective May 2018, Gloria Halliday is vacating the following positions: Newsletter Editor, Member Directory Editor, Webmaster, Social Network Administrator (Facebook), Minutes & Bylaws Editor, and Mass Communications. Newsletter is monthly and with the way it is now set up, is mostly a matter of plugging in dates. Directory requires updates through the year as membership changes, and production of the hard copy directory once a year. A printer is required. The website job consists mostly of uploading the latest newsletter, directory, and player lists, and adding in any news or photos submitted by members. The other jobs, including FB, are mostly on demand. These jobs are very easy and not time-consuming, but basic knowledge of Excel and Word is required for the newsletter and directory. Maintaining the website is also easy but some familiarity with computers is necessary. I will provide written instructions for each job, and am willing to teach in person. These jobs are all separate. Being on the Board is a great way to meet new people, have fun, and influence our direction. This is your opportunity to give back to the Club! If anyone is interested in taking over any of these positions, please contact President Dolores Kessler, or doloreskessler@comcast.net, or Gloria at amimamma911@yahoo.com or DUE TO USER ABUSE (DEPOSITING SHARPS, GARBAGE, LOOSE PILLS), THE WHITE MEDICAL DROP BOX AT THE SAN MATEO POLICE STATION IS NOW BLUE AND IS LOCATED JUST INSIDE THE POLICE STATION. Other available locations are as follows: San Mateo Neighborhood Pharmacy, 9 37th Ave., San Mateo Burlingame Police Department, 1111 Trousdale Drive, Burlingame Belmont Police Department, 1 Twin Pines Lane, Belmont Sheriff - Millbrae Police Bureau, 581 Magnolia Ave., Millbrae Redwood City Police Department, 1301 Maple Street, Redwood City Probation Department, County Center, 400 County Center, Redwood City 3
4 Reminder: Online Availability I would like to remind everyone that all newsletters, (past and present), minutes, Club bylaws, sub and player lists for Bridge and Pedro, and the most up-to-date version of the Member Directory are available in the Members Only section of our website, password californiagirls. When you misplace your newsletter, or think you have not received it always check your spam folder first. It is quicker for you to download directly from the website than to me, the Editor, Gloria Halliday, wait for me to find and read your , download it, and it to you again. The newsletter is always ed in the middle of the 2nd week of the month, following the 2 nd Tuesday board meeting, so that is when you should start looking for it. Snail mail versions obviously take longer but are usually sent out within a week of creation. BOARD MEETING Next meeting is at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, at the Redwood Shores Public Library, Meeting Room D, at the corner of Bridge and Marine Parkway. If you cannot attend, please notify President Dolores Kessler at doloreskessler@comcast.net or by Sunday, September 10. August newsletter deadline is noon, September 12. Please turn in your information IN WRITING to GLORIA HALLIDAY, or her at amimamma911@yahoo.com. Anything turned in after this deadline will appear in the following month s newsletter. IMPORTANT CHECKS FOR DUES AND ALL ACTIVITIES ARE TO BE MADE OUT TO THE NEWCOMERS CLUB OF SAN MATEO COUNTY, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED. Annual dues are $30, or $45 if you want your newsletter delivered via snail mail and are due by January 1. *****ANY CHANGES TO NAMES, ADDRESSES, ADDRESSES, OR TELEPHONE NUMBERS MUST BE FORWARDED TO: GLORIA HALLIDAY, NEWSLETTER & YEARBOOK EDITOR, at amimamma911@yahoo.com or AND Cookie Cala, MEMBERSHIP CHAIR, , or cookiecala@gmail.com. YEARBOOK EDITOR IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR NEWSLETTERS AND YEARBOOKS GOING ASTRAY DUE TO A FAILURE TO NOTIFY. Thank you. 4
