1 Dear Parents and Guardians: The following online tools will make it easier to know about school events and be immediately updated when changes to the online calendar occur. ical Feeds An ical feed allows you to keep track of the school s online calendar by using an external program such as Google Calendar, igoogle, Outlook Calendar or Apple Calendar, etc.. You can opt to subscribe to an ical feed for one online calendar (i.e. Lower School Calendar) or all online calendars (i.e. Early Childhood, Lower School and High School). Alerts - An Alerts Notification automatically lets you know either by or by SMS text message when a particular piece of content on the school s online calendar has been updated such as a change, update, cancellation or postponement of an event. 2 Instructions for ical Feeds and Alert Subscriptions 1. ical feeds - ical feeds allow you to keep track of the school s online calendar by using an external program such as Google Calendar, igoogle, Outlook Calendar or Apple Calendar. In the case of these ical files, the content being tracked is calendar data: event start times, end times and other relevant details. Calendar pages will display an ical feed button.

3 Selecting the ical feed link will pop open a new window with several choices.

4 You can opt to subscribe to an ical for a single calendar that s displayed on the webpage, or for all of the available calendars. Then, when you select the green ical feed button corresponding to the calendar(s) you want to follow, you ll select which flavor of ical to use. Choose the one that most closely matches the calendar-management software you have. (There are slight differences in how various calendar-management software programs handle ical feeds, which is why you need to make this choice.) Once you ve selected the appropriate feed(s), copy the provided URL into your calendar software. Hover over the ICAL icon for the calendar you wish to subscribe to and select your external program such as Google Calendar, igoogle, Outlook Calendar or Apple Calendar.

5 In your external program such as the following Google Calendar example click Yes, add this calendar. Your external program will automatically populate with the events associated with that specific calendar. ical feeds are generally updated hourly, meaning changes made to the Waldorf school calendar may take up to an hour to reach your own device (there may be an additional delay, depending on how frequently your calendar software checks the ical feed for updates). After you have selected an ical feed and added it to your device, you ll see events from that calendar show up within your own software. Please note that following an ical feed from a particular calendar will NOT automatically sign you up for Alerts for events on that calendar. For Alerts, read on

Alerts function and - An Alerts Notification automatically let you know either by or by SMS text message when a particular piece of web content has been updated such as a change, update, cancellation or postponement of an event. These Alerts features can give you two broad types of alert notifications. Type sensitive reminders ( ) and notifications of new content. When you see this little gold bell icon, that tells you you can receive time sensitive reminders for specific calendar events, such as a reminder two days before the Gala Kick-Off Planning Meeting. (We ll talk about notifications of new content - - a little later.)

7 With your existing login information for our website, you can use your username and password to manage your alerts. If you forgot your username and password, click the link Forgot your username/password? and follow the instructions. Your username and password will be automatically ed to you.

8 On the next screen, you can choose a time interval for how far in advance you want to be reminded of the event like that Gala Kick-Off Planning Meeting. You can choose to be reminded anywhere between 30 minutes and 4 days prior to the event.

9 You can also receive alerts for the entire school calendar. On the school calendar page, you will see this Alerts icon in the top right corner.

10 Click on it to open up a similar Subscriptions window where you can subscribe to the alerts. If you have an existing login for our website, you can use that same username and password to manage your alerts. If you forgot your username and password, click the link Forgot your username/password? Follow the instructions and your username/password will be automatically ed to you.

11 On the next screen, If the event is changed, updated, cancelled, postponed or re-scheduled, you will automatically receive an Alerts Notification with that information.

12 You can also add a mobile phone number so you can receive an SMS text message sent directly to your mobile phone when an event is changed, updated, cancelled or re-scheduled. To enable your mobile phone number, click Update Settings

13 On the next screen, click the Add Text Enabled Phone.

14 Read the statement and click OK :

15 On the next screen, click Add Text Enabled Phone :

16 Then enter your relevant mobile phone details. Select mobile phone from the drop down, entire your phone number and select the carrier. Click save phone.

17 The next thing you ll have to do is verify that the number that you submitted is authentic. You will receive a six-digit code as a text message on your phone. After receiving the code on your phone, you want to click the Verify link

18 Enter that code and click Verify :

19 When you see your phone number and the green Text Enabled message, you re done!

20 Click Logoff to exit the system:
