1 Follow the steps below to access your SCF student account from an external client. You can also use these instructions to access your SCF student account from a smartphone. Display name Description address Account username or login name 1 Account password 2 SCF Student Server Information 1 Type in your name as you want it to show up in the From field i.e. Amy Smith Some programs will allow you to associate an internal name or description to each account i.e. My SCF account Your SCF address is <your SCFconnect login name>@ student.scf.edu i.e. asmith@student.scf.edu Your SCFconnect login name i.e. asmith Your SCFconnect password account type: IMAP/IMAP4 Port number: 143 Incoming mail server: student.scf.edu User name/ Login name: Your SCFconnect login name Password: Your SCFconnect password Secure Password Authentication/Connection Security: No If you do not want to enter your password every time you check your , put a check in the box labeled Remember password or Save password to save your password value. Outgoing/SMTP mail server: student.scf.edu Server authentication: Yes/checkbox Port number: 587 or Default User name/ Login name: Your SCFconnect login name Password : Your SCFconnect password Secure Password Authentication/ Connection Security: No 1 2 Some clients may automatically configure all of the settings for you after entering in your address and password. When your SCFconnect password changes, you will need to update your desktop or smartphone program with the new password, as your SCFconnect password is also your student account password. Failure to do so may result in your account locking out. Desktop/Laptop Setup Instructions 1) Download and install an external client for desktop access (if none is installed). clients that can be used to access your SCF student account can include the following: Microsoft s Outlook, Windows Live Mail, Apple s Mail (Mac only), Mozilla s Thunderbird. 2) Open your program. 3) If this is the first time you are starting the program, a setup wizard may walk you through configuring a new account. Otherwise, create or setup a new account using the information provided above. Page 1 1/18/2013

2 iphone/ipod Touch/iPad Setup Instructions For ios version 5.0 and later* *May work on earlier versions 1) Open the Settings app 2) Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars 4) Tap on Other 3) Tap on Add Account 5) Then tap on Add Mail Account Page 2 1/18/2013

3 6) Enter in the following information: Name Password Your name <your SCFconnect login Your SCFconnect Password Description SCF 7) Select IMAP at the top; then for the Incoming Mail Server & Outgoing Mail Server use the following: Host Name student.scf.edu Username Password <your SCFconnect login Your SCFconnect Password Then tap on Next at the top Page 3 1/18/2013

4 8) You will get a Cannot Connect Using SSL / Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL? ** tap on Yes then the same message will appear again, tap on Yes. 9) You will see all fields with a checkmark on the right when it is successful then you will see this screen: ** This may take several minutes to appear. 10) Tap on Save 11) Open up the Mail app 12) Tap on the top left to get to your mailboxes and look for SCF 13) Tap on SCF and your messages will begin downloading. 14) Congratulations!
