Introduction The following document provides you with information both how to request an account as well as how to reset a password in ECAS which is the European Commission Authentication System. To date when you logon to EDAMIS application you have to enter a username and password. The logon request will be forwarded to Circa which proofs whether the user has the permission to access EDAMIS. It has been decided to phase out Circa end of the year. On that account it is intended to replace the authentication part of Circa by the new system ECAS for the logon. Please take into account at the moment it is only possible to logon to EDAMIS application using your CIRCA account. From Monday, 9 th December on it is possible for a transitory period to use the old authentication system CIRCA as well as the new one ECAS. After the first successful logon via ECAS the old system is blocked. We would like to remind you the document concerns only external EDAMIS users. The authentication procedure of staff members from ESTAT productions units is different when they logon to the application and therefore they are not affected to request an account / reset a password via EDAMIS application

4 2. How to request an account via ECAS In order to request a new account you have to use ECAS as authentication system. This application is the replacement for CIRCA. 2.1 Logon to EDAMIS -> Logon to EDMAIS using the URL -> enter "ECAS authentication" Select this button when you have no account in EDAMIS. In this case it is not necessary to enter account information in the field CIRCA username / CIRCA password

5 2.2 ECAS Login Page The ECAS Login page appears. Please check whether the presented domain is "External". In case another domain is visible enter the link "Change it". In the following list select "Neither an institution nor a European body" and press on button "Select". You will be then redirected to the Login page and the domain has changed. -> enter button "Sign Up" - 5 -

6 2.3 ECAS form for registration new accounts In the following form please fill in all fields. Please take into account: The address contains the activation link for the next step in the account registration process. Therefore it must be a valid address which guarantees you to receive the . After successful registration you can use both the username and the address in order to logon to EDAMIS. Due to the fact the username must be unique you will be informed in case the name already exist. -> enter button "Sign Up" - 6 -

7 2.4 ECAS password activation link Some whiles later, you receive an with the already mentioned activation link -> select the link in the or the whole URL You will be forwarded to the ECAS page where you can set the initial password. Please take into account the link is valid the next 90 minutes after receiving the

8 2.5 ECAS password generation When you have selected the mentioned activation link in the you will be forwarded to the side in ECAS where you have to set your initial password. -> enter the new password and confirm it Please take into account the password length is 10 characters minimum and has to contain at least characters from three out of the four mentioned groups. -> enter button "Submit" When the password was successfully set you receive the following page. -> enter button "Proceed" Finally you will be redirected to the EDAMIS self-registration page

9 3. How to reset a password via ECAS In case you do not know the password for your ECAS / EDAMIS account you can reset it. For this purpose enter again in the EDAMIS login page the button ECAS authentication (see this document point 2.1, page 4). 3.1 ECAS Login page -> select either the buttons "New password" or "Lost your password" Please take again into account the domain has to be "External" (see this document point 2.2, page 5)

10 3.2 ECAS form for password reset Fill in the form your username or address. -> Select the button "Get a password" Regardless whether you have entered your username or address you will receive an with an activation link. ECAS takes in both cases the address you have entered during the account registration process. 3.3 ECAS password reset procedure The following steps are then identical to the ones described in this document from chapter 2.4 (page 7) on. That means in the next step you receive an with the activation link. When you have entered the link you will be redirected to the "New password" form within ECAS. After successful generating the new password ECAS forwards you to EDAMIS
