1 ahealthyme Activity Challenge Team Captain Guide Summer 2016 Congratulations, you re a Team Captain in the upcoming Activity Challenge! The Activity Challenge starts on Monday, July 25. Let s commit to improving our wellbeing together. Here s what to expect: Your Individual Goal: To successfully complete this 4 week challenge and be eligible for your wellness points, you ll need to log 196,000 steps* (an average of 7,000 steps a day). *Steps must be entered on the ahealthyme website ( or on the HealthyNow app, to be counted toward the challenge goal. Active minutes can be converted into steps using the ahealthyme Cardio Log. Your Team s Goal Wellness points are earned individually. Team rankings are based on team step averages. At the end of the 4 week challenge, the team with the highest average number of steps wins! Your Responsibilities as a Team Captain: 1.) Create a team. Team Captain Enrollment begins at 8:00am on Monday, July 18! During this time, you need to log in on the ahealthyme site ( to create your team (6 to 12 people is recommended). Refer to page 3 of this guide for instructions on how to create your team. 2.) Prep your team for the start of the challenge. Before July 25, you and your teammates will need to: Sign up for the challenge on the ahealthyme site ( Learn how to log your steps on ahealthyme. To help you communicate these tasks to your team: send the sample Welcome template with instructions (see page 5). IMPORTANT: Open enrollment for all participants begins on Wednesday, July 20. You ll need to send the Welcome to your teammates 2 days prior to open enrollment for all 1

2 participants! 3.) Motivate your teammates! Keep your teammates moving towards daily 7,000 step goal! Get creative: encourage team walks; organize a lunchtime stroll; and hold meetings on the move. Your Key Dates and Actions Enrollment begins for Team Captains: Visit and create your team. Send the Welcome to your team. Monday, July 18 Enrollment is open for all participants Wednesday, July 20 Challenge begins! Monday, July 25 Challenge enrollment ends at 11:59 PM. Please note the sign-up period ends on a Sunday, July 31 Sunday. Challenge ends at 11:59 PM. Participants must log all steps prior to the end of the Monday, August 22 challenge to count toward the total. 2

3 I. INSTRUCTIONS: Create Your Team on ahealthyme Team Captain Enrollment begins at 8:00am on July 18. During this time, you ll need to join the challenge and create your team. Follow these steps: 1.) Log in to the ahealthyme secure site ( 2.) Click on Sign up in the Challenge Widget. 3.) Next, select Create your own team and add your preferred team name. 4.) Click Sign up now. This confirmation screen allows you to send an optional pre-drafted invitation to the prospective team members click on the provided link to send this. 3

4 Your computer s primary system will create a new . Just add the addresses of your intended recipients and send. Tip: To see who has joined your team, click the Details button on the Challenge Widget (first names only). Use this button during the enrollment period to make sure all of your team members are signing up. Remember you only have 2 weeks to sign up. Encourage everyone to join and get active! 4

5 Welcome Template Team Captains: Send this to your team two days prior to the open enrollment start date for all participants. Remember open enrollment for all participants starts on July 20. Subject line: Join my Activity Challenge team! Hi, The Activity Challenge is almost here join the <INSERT TEAM NAME> team! The challenge starts on July 25, don t miss out. To participate, you ll need to: Join the <TEAM NAME> team on July 20. Do this the ahealthyme site ( Learn how to log your steps or convert active minutes into steps. IMPORTANT: Complete these steps by Sunday, July 31 at 11:59 PM. Instructions are below. Step 1: Join My Team On July 20, follow these steps to join our team: 1. Log into your ahealthyme account ( 2. Click on the Sign up button in the Challenge Widget on the ahealthyme dashboard. 3. Click Select existing team and choose <TEAM NAME> from the drop-down list. You ll see <CAPTAIN S FIRST NAME> listed here, plus with any other team members who may have signed up so far. 4. Click Sign up now. Congratulations, you ve joined our team! Tip: Want to see who else has joined our team? Click Details in the Challenge Widget. 5

6 *NOTE: The Details button displays first names only. Step 2: Learn how to log your steps on ahealthyme! 1. Log into your ahealthyme account ( 2. Click in the Challenge Widget. You ll see this right on the ahealthyme dashboard upon log-in. 3. Enter your steps. Or, use the HealthyNow app to log steps: To download: Visit Click on Activate the HealthyNow app button on the homepage for instructions and to get your personal access code to start the download process. Log your steps in the HealthyNow app: 1) Launch the app and click the Steps icon. 2) Select the date that you are logging steps for ( Today is the pre-set option). Missed a day of logging? Select a past date using the back arrow button or calendar icon. 3) Enter your steps and click Add. Track your challenge progress on the HealthyNow app: click Challenges to view the challenge progress bar. Using a Fitbit linked to ahealthyme? Your steps will automatically appear in the HealthyNow app. Other options for logging activity/ steps: ahealthyme Cardio Log (convert your active minutes into steps) 6

7 ahealthyme Steps Log Fitbit ahealthyme Cardio Log Participating in activities that can t be tracked by a pedometer (e.g., biking, yoga, or swimming)? Convert your active minutes into steps with the ahealthyme Cardio Log: 1. Click on Exercise located on the top navigation bar. Next, click Exercise Logs and choose Cardio Log. 2. Search Bar to find and select an exercise. Add your minutes of exercise. 3. Click Add Exercise to save the selected activity to the Cardio Log. Active minutes converted into steps will count toward the challenge goal and will appear in the challenge progress bar. ahealthyme Steps Log 1. Log into your ahealthyme account and click on Exercise tab on the top navigation bar, select Exercise Logs and choose Steps Log. 2. Enter the amount of steps you ve taken. 3. Click Add Steps. These steps will appear on your challenge progress bar. Using a Fitbit? Link it to ahealthyme and use it for this challenge 1. First-time Fitbit users: Register your device on Fitbit.com. Registration is a one-time process. If you already have a Fitbit account, move to Step 2. Get started: Visit and follow the instructions provided with your device. Optional (but recommended): Download the Fitbit app on your mobile device and follow these instructions: 2. Log into your ahealthyme account ( 3. Click on the gray Fitbit widget. 7

8 4. Enter the log-in credentials for your Fitbit.com account. This allows Fitbit.com to access your Fitbit data. Your experience may vary depending on your internet browser: If using Internet Explorer: A new window will pop up: Close this window. Your ahealthyme portal will still be available on another window. If you ve properly set up your account, that screen will now look similar to this. Your Fitbit device displays under the Connected window: If using Google Chrome: A brief Hold on please will appear. The screen will change to the Applications and Devices page, where your Fitbit device is displayed under the Connected window. 8

9 In Google Chrome, you will not see a second window pop up that tells you Registration is complete, please close this window. You ve linked your Fitbit to ahealthyme! REMEMBER: You MUST complete these steps by Sunday, July 31 at 11:59 PM. The challenge begins on July 25! Let s move our way to victory! # View Progress with the HealthyNow app To download: Visit Click Activate the HealthyNow app on the ahealthyme homepage for instructions and to get your personal access code to start the download process on your phone. To view your progress: 9
