Remember we received notice after you mailed out the notice this last Friday. As far as the meeting being canceled, that was a decision made by Mr. Hathaway. Nevertheless, it was my understanding that the meeting was about "why you have chosen not to support the food bank?" To wait to notify us about a meeting less than 5 days before and then to plan to ask me questions about a meeting the day before, just leaves me speechless. Since it's your meeting and it's not about the food bank but about the future of McKinley hill, I am still confused why you are asking me these questions. Please advise! There will be a city staff present to assist. No, furthermore I don't believe any statement of noting support or dismay would affect my abil ity to listen to constituents. 4) Is there anything you would like provided or have available? What are your expectations for the Conversation (Is there a takeaway that would be helpful)? What outcomes wou ld you like to see from a meeting with the neighbors? What would a success on McKinley Hill look like to you? I ask these questions to help gu ide us to workable solutions. If I know what would be most helpful to you, I may be able frame some of conversation to help you. As far as tactical questions I have none at this time, but sure I'm there will be some. I guess the questions that comes to top of mind would be: Operationally what have you changed since I last saw you speak to the Neighborhood Council in November? What has been your biggest challenges in meeting your mission? If you could start all over what would you do differently? 6

7 5) TEAM: Tacoma East Action Membership. The grand dames of the Eastside, they are the longest continuous standing community organization in East Tacoma. They are held in the most high regard. They requested I speak with them last Saturday and they inquired about the Community Conversation. They were interested and asked if they could provide refreshments. I dare not turn them down, I'm sure you understand. 6) That wasn't my understanding of the meeting, I thought it was so that John could ask us both lots of hard questions and about how we could work together in the future. 7) I'm looking to respond to the questions in previous below, but I see one question and few statements. Will you be given plenty of time to speak if you wish through-out the conversation. If it is about city owned properties in the Dometop area, I will re-query with staff tomorrow to see what has changed, but I don't think the City owns much, as it is one of our Historic Residential Neighborhoods. I have tried to be complete in my answers but it is hard to give context and still be brief to so many questions. These events are always fluid and uncertain. I do expect everyone to be respectful, honest and solutions orientated. I have seen good success in the past, in one case a gang style murder of young man threaten to rip a neighborhood apart. After a community meeting a youth hip-hop club avoided being shut down, crime plummeted and the area is now one of the most thriving districts in the City of Tacoma because of everyone in the neighborhood came together. (see attached) I have tried to answer, but i may have missed something. I'm certain you have more questions, and more after that. So please let me know an I will do what I can, however I will point out that a phone call is simpler.
