2 Magnifying the t in STEM for TK-2 There are many ways to integrate technology in your primary classroom to increase engagement and the use of the 4Cs: communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Several ideas and examples of students and teachers integrating technology with Math, Science, Engineering and Language Arts in their classrooms will be shared from our Curiosity Magnified STEM Grant for TK-2 teachers.

3 Curiosity magnified! Curiosity Magnified STEM Partnership (CMSP) is a K-2 STEM CaMSP Grant for Shasta County teachers funded through the California Department of Education.

7 Look what they can do! (Yes, even in kindergarten) Kindergartners used a stop motion movie program to create math videos!

8 Why make movies? Students already associate it with something fun It can be used as an informal assessment of their understanding Possibilities are endless... Student collaboration Group Projects Share outs Reflections Feedback

9 Stop motion studios -- /goo.gl/ukwjuq For phones, ipads, and Chromebooks Stop Motion Videos make objects, like Lego Men, look like they move on their own. Take a picture, move the lego man a bit and take another pic. After 20 or so pics, use Stop Motion Studios to stitch them together into a movie. Tutorials -

10 I movie trailers imovies lets you take photos and turn them into a cool and fun movie trailer. Take your pics and then open imovie and import pictures you want to use. The trailers are easier and quicker It spells out what kind of pictures to take It restricts the number of pictures It is only ~1 minute long Tutorials -

11 Lego movie maker It is a free app It is stop motion film You don t have to use legos Tutorials:

12 Upload to youtube! For Lego Movie Maker 1. Save to camera roll 2. Go to camera roll and then press the upload button 3. Choose youtube 4. You should have a youtube account associated with your google account 5. After it is uploaded make it public and then you can share the link to the google+ account For imovie Trailer 1. Just click upload button 2. Choose youtube 3. You should have a youtube account associated with your google account 4. After it is uploaded make it public and then you can share the link to the google+ account

13 Upload videos to youtube ( Sign into YouTube with your google account. (Upper Right Hand Button) In the My Channel link, select a video and click on Video Manager at the top of the list of videos. Choose a video and click on edit. Add descriptions and titles and use the tabs on the editor window to add credits, cut sections out, add music and more. Tutorial -

14 Google+ (plus.google.com) This is Google Social Media Tool. We can post comments, upload pictures and link to videos. We can choose who we want to share things to based on a grouping tool called circles. Curiosity Magnified K-2 STEM Circle Tutorial -

16 Quick response codes aka qr codes QR codes are similar to barcodes. When you scan QR codes using apps with your smartphone, ipad or computer (if you have a web camera) it links information to you. The information can be text, videos or websites and more.

18 Let s explore with qr codes on dice! 1. Roll the Die and scan the QR Code to see what your activity is! 2. Explore the 6 different activities! 3. What was your favorite activity? 4. How do you see yourself using QR Codes with your students?

20 Downloading QR codes! Select the type of QR Code you want to make (we used URL/Web Address) Copy and Paste the URL (web address) into the QR Code Generator. Click SAVE Give your QR Code a File Name Click SAVE The QR Code will download to your device. Open the Downloaded QR (check your Downloads folder) You can then copy the QR Code and Paste it into a Word doc or a Google Doc
