1 Creating A Padlet Padlet is accessible both as an online tool and an ipad app. It offers a free service that allows you to create walls to collaborate and present information. It is a fun and easy way to add creativity to the way you and your students present ideas and communicate with each other. Website: Set up for a free account by clicking on the Sign up button in the middle of the page (if you don t already have one) App: Set up a free account by tapping on the Sign up button in the bottom left corner (if you don't already have one) Remember to store your username/password somewhere so you will not forget it. Next time you visit, just Login with your information. Click New Padlet in upper right for the website or upper left for the app. Website Instructions (For app instructions, see later in the directions.) 2 Your modification window is open on the right, so you will need to do the following: a. Change the Title and give it a description b. Choose how the postings are arranged i. Freeform allows you to move things where you want and resize the postings. ii. Grid organizes everything nicely but doesn't allow you to resize anything. iii. Stream adds the most recent posts to the top and doesn't allow you to resize anything. c. Change the wallpaper (optional) d. Scroll down and add an icon (optional) e. Tag your padlet (optional) f. Change the Address to a name that reflects your subject or topic and is easy to remember. This is the address you will share for others to access your Padlet. g. 3 h. In the Privacy Settings you will leave it on Secret, and if you have a partner you can add them as a contributor by adding their address. Make sure they Can write to your padlet and turn off the Moderator Posts. Click Next. h Note: If you need to access the Settings again, click the gear icon. 4 App Instructions Your blank wall will look like this. Tap the gear icon in the bottom right corner to access the Settings. a. Change the Title and give it a Description b. Add a Portrait which adds an icon next to the title of your Padlet (optional) c. Change the Address to a name that reflects your subject or topic and is easy to remember. d. 5 Tap the people icon in the bottom right to access the Privacy Settings. a. Keep the Share settings as they are. d b. If you would like to add your partner as a collaborator, tap that option, use their address or Padlet username to find them, and give them rights to Administer. Tap <Share to go back. c. Notice there is an option to Copy link to clipboard. This is how you will access the link when you are ready to share the link. d. 6 6. To post to your Padlet wall either Double Tap (app) or Double Click (website) anywhere on your wall to Post. a. Tap Title to give your post a title. b. Tap Write something to add a body of text. c. Tap the media icons to post an audio file, movie file, web link, photo or other file. i. Link from web: delete the Padlet web link (app) and paste your desired web link including YouTube videos and Submit. App view ii. Upload/Use Camera (app): photos can be posted from your camera roll or from your live camera. iii. Upload/Take Photo (website): photos can be uploaded from your computer, and if your computer has a built in camera, the option to take a photo will show. Website View 7. No need to save. Padlet saves as you work. 8. To share your Padlet from the website, copy the url in the address bar. 9. To share your Padlet from the app, click the people icon in the bottom right and copy the link.
