1 1 How to Build a New Program Proposal After logging in to Curriculog, select either the My Tasks or My Proposals tab. Then, click on New Proposal. Hover on New Program Proposal and click the check-mark button to Start Proposal.

2 2 This brings you into the proposal form itself. First, click the Show Help Text icon indicated below. The help text will resemble the example below, and will be near the top left side of the screen.

3 3 Begin by filling in in fields marked with an asterisk (Department, CIP Number, Org. Unit, Title of Program, Proposed Program Number, Term, Program Type, and Choose a Program). Continue through the form, filling in all fields.

4 4 To build the program s curriculum, go to the Curriculum section near the end of the form (see example below). Notice the three icons circled above. Begin by clicking on the icon furthest to the right. When you hover on it, it will say, View Curriculum Courses. If the courses for your curriculum do not currently exist, click on Add Course, and skip to page 6. If the courses for your curriculum do currently exist, click on Import Course (see red arrow above). This will result in the following pop-up box: Hover on Acalog: Catalog/Handbook The check mark icon (circled above) will appear. Click on it.

5 5 From the next screen (see below), click the drop-down arrow for Filter by field, and select Prefix. Then enter the prefix of the existing course that you want to add to the curriculum. The search results will appear: When you have finished adding courses, skip to page 7.

6 6 Adding courses that do not currently exist Notice the three icons circled below. Begin by clicking on the icon furthest to the right. When you hover on it, it will say, View Curriculum Courses. The pop-up box shown below will appear. Enter the prefix, code, and name of the course, and click Add Course. Repeat this step for every new course.

7 7 Next, you need to create the curriculum schema. From the Curriculum section, click on the middle icon (circled in red below). If your program does not share a core with an existing program, skip to page 10. If your program shares a core with another program, click Import Core (see red arrow above). (Many General Education areas might fall under this category.) The following pop-up window will appear: Click on the catalog-handbook from which you wish to import (see red arrow above), and the screen shown below will appear. Click Search Available Curriculum (indicated by red arrow below).

8 8 As list of search results will appear. Scroll through the shared cores, until you find the core that your new program shares with an existing program. Click on the core. The pop-up will disappear, and the core will now appear under the curriculum schema:

9 And the courses will appear under your curriculum courses: 9

10 10 Click Add Core for each non-shared core in your program (ie General Education, Technical Electives, Core Requirements, etc.). Click on New Core in the gray line. The gray line will drop down (see below). Fill in the Title of that core. To add all of the courses that belong with that core, click Add Courses, and the following pop-up will appear: Select all of the courses that belong in the core, and press Add Course (indicated by red arrow above). Repeat this process for each core in your program.

11 11 When you have finished adding all of the cores and their programs, from the curriculum section, click on the icon furthest to the left (circled below): A pop-up window (similar to the one shown below) will appear, displaying the curriculum that you have built. If this window matches the complete curriculum for your new program, you are now finished building the curriculum. If it does not look complete, return to the curriculum schema (middle icon) and curriculum courses (right icon) to finish the build.

12 12 To attach a document to the proposal, select the icon indicated below: To find the document you wish to attach, click on the Browse button. This will make a pop-up window appear. Locate and click on the item you wish to attach. The pop-up window will close automatically. Click the Upload button circled above. Your file will then appear under the Attached Files heading shown above. Some text boxes will provide you with the following menu: Use the button indicated above, if you would like to add a table. If you wish to stop working and come back to the proposal later, you can do so at any time, and your work will be saved, both before and after the proposal has been launched. You would only need to login and select the My Proposals tab to retrieve it. However, once you approve the proposal (see steps below), you will no longer have access to make changes because the proposal will have moved to the next step in the approval sequence. Contact Sarah Plazak is you need to change something after you have approved the proposal.

13 13 When you reach the following section, you are ready to launch your proposal: To launch this proposal, return to the top of the page, and select the blue Launch proposal arrow. You will receive the following pop-up window. Select Launch Proposal. Once launched, this notification will appear in the top right corner of the screen: ***Despite this message, you have one more step. ***

14 14 From the right-hand column, select the Decisions icon indicated below: Please select either the Accept or Reject radio button. You have the option of leaving a comment detailing the reason for your decision, but that is purely an optional field. Lastly, click Make My Decision. This will move the proposal on to the next step, so it will no longer appear under your My Tasks tab. If you need to view the proposal after this point, select the All Proposals tab.
