2 Getting started Indoor Map Tracker is a pedestrian movement tracking Android application which works in corporation with a map matching server in order to produce most accurate approximation to the real position. After the installation you will see the following icon on your applications screen: Applications screen Indoor Map Tracker application Tap on this icon to run the application and see its interface. 2

3 Application menu The screen is darkened till connection to server is made Server connection status / button Tap the menu button: Settings menu Calibration feature 3

4 Tap on "Settings" to set your options. The settings screen will open: Set server IP address Set server port number Initial location is relevant only for recording to file. Choose whether to use the values from calibration process or the default values Check this box if you wish that the tracked path to be saved locally. The files can be found at Pedotracker/Tracks in the internal storage Check to save all the raw data that is used by the algorithm. The files can be found at Pedotracker/Log in the internal storage 4

5 Calibration Calibration of the sensors needs to be done to ensure accurate results. The calibration process calculates the constant errors in the sensors ridings and measures environmental constants that are used by the algorithm. To open the calibration dialog, choose "calibration" in the menu. You will see the following screen: Please follow the directions to ensure accurate results. The calibration process takes about 30 seconds. Important note: In addition to the application level calibration process described here, the device should be rotated for a while in all three axes before use in order to allow Android OS to calibrate the magnetometer sensor for hard iron errors. 5

6 Connecting to map matching server Before connecting to the server, you should make sure that the server is running and that you entered its IP address and its port number correctly. Tap on the "server connection" icon and then on "connect". If the server is not available on the selected port number and the chosen IP address, an error message will be received. 6

7 If the connection succeeded, the "server connection" icon will turn green: 7

8 Scan QR code The application works in association which a map matching server. The location QR code should be scanned in order to synchronize with the appropriate map and position. 8

9 Wait for the server: Quick start It's possible to reach the next step by directly scanning a map QR code using your favorite QR code scanner. The app will automatically try to connect to the server and synchronize with the map. 9

10 Start tracking Put the device on the belt in vertical orientation when its screen turns to your right and then tap on the green "START" button. The "START" button will change to "STOP". 11

11 Start walking.. Your positions will be shown on the map: 11

12 When you finished, tap on the "STOP" button. 12
