1 How to import references from Web of Science! Make a back up of your EndNote library before doing major changes or imports to EndNote! Direct import of a single reference: In the result list: Tick an interesting article and choose Save to EndNote desktop () from the drop down menu. From the abstract level: Choose Save to EndNote desktop () from the drop down menu. Choose the article information you want to import to EndNote () and finish by clicking "send" (). Firefox users may get this message: If you do, click OK (). If you use a browser that automatically download the import fil, choose to open this file when it is downloaded. Safari (Mac) will save the file. Drag the import file from the download folder to the EndNote icon at the bottom of the screen. Alternatively, go to Finder and manually ask that the file is opened in (with) EndNote. couple of references to see that the import was correct. Click on All references in the left pane to see all references in the library.

2 Direct import of many references at the same time: If you have a result list over many pages, tick the interesting references on each page. Moving to a new page, ticked references will be automatically added to "Marked List" (). You can also manually add references by choosing "Add to Marked List" (). After going through the result list, click Marked List () in the top main menu. Choose the information you want to be imported () and Save to EndNote desktop () from the drop down menu.

4 Import a temporary stored file: If you need to store the import file before adding it to your library (e.g. you do not have EndNote on the computer you are working on), you can import a temporary import file later. Follow the instructions for direct import, but choose "Save to other file formats" () from the drop down menu. Choose "File Format "Plain Text" () from the drop down menu in the next window and finish with "Send" (). Save the file in a preferred location. 6 7 Open EndNote and choose Import from the File menu". Choose correct import file (). Choose import filter "Web of Science" () from the list. A correct import filter is necessary for the references to be added correctly into your library. The first time Other filters (6) has to be chosen to find the correct filter from the list of available filters. Click Choose (7).

5 8 9 Choose Import all from the Duplicate-menu () if you want to import all references in the file. Choose Discard duplicates if you want EndNote to try to discard duplicates in the import file during the import to the library. Duplicates can also be identified and removed later through the main library duplicate check.
