1 Insert Picture MSITA WORD LESSON 7 Picture: a visual representa on of something Ex. person or scene, photograph, pain ng, scanned image, line art, artwork, etc. 1. Click where you want to insert the picture. 2. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File. 3. Locate the picture you want to insert. 4. Double click the picture you want to insert. Microso Word embeds (becomes part of the document) pictures in a document. Pictures can also be linked which changes as the source changes. Also insert captured pictures or graphics from a digital camera or scanned images. Graphic: images such as clip art, word art, graphs, and charts. Clipart: a collec on of professionally designed images that can be inserted into a presenta on. On the Insert tab, in the Illustra ons group, click Clip Art. Microso Clipart Collec ons: Some Default or accessible from website 1. In the Clip Art task pane, in the Search for text box, type a word or phrase that describes the clip art that you want, or type in all or some of the file name of the clip art. 2. To narrow your search, do one or both of the following: To limit the search results to a specific collec on of clip art, in the Search in box, click the arrow and select the collec on you want to search. To limit the search results to clip art, click the arrow in the Results should be box and select the check box next to Clip Art. In the Clip Art task pane, you can also search for photographs, movies, and sounds. To include any of those media types, select the check boxes next to them. 3. Click Go. 4. In the list of results, click the clip art to insert it.

Graphic Image File For Raster data only. Ex. Synthe c flat images, logos, diagrams, naviga on bu ons. Supports 256 colors per image, transparency, and simple anima ons. Preferred for Web use. Joint Photographic Experts Group Compressed, lossy file for raster data. Mostly used for photo images. 24 bit RGB files. Portable Network Graphics Newest web graphic file. Lossless compression, Metadata color management, Mul bit transparency. Holds RGB or Index color data, not CMYK. Windows Metafile Allows a graphic to be ungrouped so the individual por ons can be altered and shared between applica ons. Modify pictures or graphics only in... Sizing Handles Ac vated when the graphic is selected Click & Drag to Rotate Image Wrap Text Op ons Reposi oning a picture is more efficient than dele ng and reinser ng Posi on Command in Arrange Group on Picture Tools Ribbon Move using arrow keys by pressing the CTRL key and using arrows to adjust loca on in small increments Mul ple graphics can be selected and moved at the same me. Select the 1st graphic and then hold down the CTRL key while selec ng the other graphics. Click Group under Arrange. Select More Layout Op ons Posi on Tab to specify exact loca on of image. Align Command horizontal and ver cal placement 2
3 Watermark a recognizable image or pa ern in paper that appears as various shades of lightness/darkness Text Effect enhancements made to the overall appearance of text Font Group Font Dialog Box Text Effects Object any item that can be manipulated such as a picture, data file, or text. WordArt is a supplementary applica on that can be used to manipulate text into shapes. For instance, you can make a phrase or sentence form a circle. WordArt is inserted as an Object. Shape read made shapes such as circles, rectangles, arrows, callouts, lines, and symbols NOTE: The Ribbons available under Drawing Tools when the Drawing Canvas is selected Insert Shapes New Drawing Canvas Insert Shape Click on a shape Return to document area and draw shape. Resize shape using the size handles Allows for manipula on, inser on, and changes to be made on a drawing object Can be resized Contents can be scaled and expanded Apply wrapping and posi oning styles 3

Insert Illustra ons Group SmartArt Make the selec on Word 2010 Diagrams Only available with SmartArt Click the [Text] bracket or in the text pane to begin typing Insert Illustra ons Group SmartArt Shapes and lines within the SmartArt can be altered in various ways. Must use SmartArt Tools Ribbons to modify SmartArt images. 4
5 ROW HEADING Datasheet An electronic spreadsheet that lets you enter, analyze, and calculate data. Within a workbook, worksheets can share information, and calculations pertaining to several worksheets can be performed at one time. The default number of worksheets in a new workbook is three. - Select data by clicking in the cell - Click outside the datasheet to deactivate - Adjust the column and row size by clicking & dragging the lines between the row or column Select Data Insert Illustra on Group Chart 1 2 A B BIRTHDAY GIFTS 3 GIFT COST 4 CD Player $ Nike Jacket $ Gap Jeans $ Computer Game $ Three CD's $ Total Cost $ COLUMN HEADING ROW Identified by numbers on the left side of the spreadsheet. (Horizontal) COLUMN Identified by letters that appear at the top of the spreadsheet. Vertical) Chart: Illustrates and compares data which must come from a datasheet (worksheet) Embedded Object: Informa on that is now a part of the Word file and no longer associates with its source. Linked Object: Informa on can be updated if the source file is modified. Linked data is stored in the source file. The Word file, or des na on file, stores only the loca on of the source file, and it displays a representa on of the linked data. Plot Area Gridlines Chart Area Y Axis Data Series X Axis Legend Engage Chart Tools by double clicking the chart Note the various types of charts Chart can be easily modified by changing source data or on the embedded chart itself Note the Groups in the Chart Tools Ribbon Change chart styles Click the Design Ribbon Charts can be easily resized (larger or smaller) Use fill colors, fill pa erns, add data labels and tles and remove the agenda on the chart Enable a specific area by double clicking the area or feature that is to be modified. 5
