Understanding TBLxNet TBLxNET is designed as a replacement for TELNET for a local area network (LAN). It supports 300+ clients on a TBL/NT system. TBLxNET includes most all features found in TELNET clients, including choice of fonts, colors, programmable function keys and editing options. The button bar displays at the top of the screen and displays a list of buttons that help you navigate. The status bar, which is found at the bottom of each screen, displays information about login. At any time, you can look at the status bar and find out the status of login, the port you are using, the system name, user name, time and date. 13:13:51 ECI 01/12/15 ============================ D.D.M.S. Printer Setup ================================================================================ T0 Location [ 1] Program Selection [ ] Setting Your Options There are several ways you can customize your system. For example, you can change colors and fonts, or program the function keys. Use the following instructions for customizing your system. Changing the Fonts You can change the font, font style and size of the text in your screens. Use the following instructions to change the font. 1. From the DDMS text-based Master Menu, main screen, click. The User Options dialog box opens. 3
2. Click Font. The Font dialog box opens displaying a list of fonts, font styles and type sizes. 3. Make changes to the following options: Font: Select the font you want to use. Font Style: Choose from regular, italic, bold or bold italic styles. Size: Select the size you want your text to appear. Script: Select the script to use for your text. The script options change with each font. 4. Once you have made your selections, a sample appears in the Sample box. You can view your selections and make changes before saving these settings. Note: You can also change the size of the font by modifying the size of the screen. Fore more information about this, see the topic Changing the Window Size. 4
5. When you are finished setting your font options, click OK. To exit this screen without applying any of these changes, click Cancel. Selecting Colors Now that you have chosen your fonts, you can also change the colors that display on your system. You can customize the color for three different items. Use the following instructions for selecting colors: 1. From the main screen, click. The User Options dialog box opens. 2. Select Normal Color. Normal Color is the color of the text in the system that does not change. For example, the menu on the main screen is normal because it never changes, but the response in the action code box, which constantly changes, is Bold. 3. The Color dialog box opens and displays a list of basic colors and custom colors. 4. Click the box of the color you want to select. 5. You can customize your color. To do so, click Define Custom Colors. Another Color dialog box opens and displays a list of colors and a color graph. See the figure on the following page. 5.1 You can enter color value in the Red, Green, and Blue boxes or in the Hue, Sat, and Lum boxes. You can also move the black arrow on the right of the color graph up and down. 5.2 The color you have created displays in the Color/Solid box. To save this color, click Add to Custom Colors. The color saves to the list of custom colors. 6. When you finish selecting a color, click OK. 7. Repeat Steps 1-6 for Bold Color and Background. Note: Bold color is for text that changes, such as responses, the date, and the time. Background color is the color of the background in each screen. 5
Selecting Cursor Options You can customize the look of the cursor using the following instructions. 1. From the main screen, click. The User Options dialog box opens. 2. In the Cursor section, select an option. Block: Click this option to have the cursor to appear as a block. Half Block: Click this option to have the cursor to appear as half a block. Note: Underline: Click this option to have the cursor to appear as an underline. You can choose only one of the options listed above. Blink: Select this option to have the cursor blink. This option can be used in conjunction with one of the other cursor options mentioned above. Programming the Function Keys You can customize the function keys to fit your system using the following instructions. 1. From the Main Menu screen, click. The User Options dialog box opens. 2. In the Function Keys section, each Function key is listed. Click the key number you want to program, for example, F1. The Function Key Setup dialog box opens. 3. In the F1 Keystrokes text box, enter the command for this function key. To embed control codes in the function key, use the following codes: for Enter or Return key, use ^; for Tab key, use., and for Escape key, use ~. For example, to set up the F1 key to enter the serialized order entry screen and move to the ticket# prompt with order writer number 405, you would enter: EZ405^O~. The code opens the EZ screen. The code 405 enters the order writer number. The code ^ enters a carriage return. The code O selects the order writer screen. The code ~ serves as the Esc key and takes you to the Ticket# prompt. 4. Click the Enable check box. Enabling the key turns it on. You can disable this box at anytime. 5. When you finish programming the function key, click OK. 6. Repeat Steps 2-5 for each function key to set up. 6
Setting Up Miscellaneous Options There are other ways you can customize your site. Use the following instructions. 1. From the Main Menu screen, click. The User Options dialog box opens. 2. From the Misc section, select the option to use. Cursor Keys for B7: This allows the cursor keys, Home, End, Insert, Delete, Page Up and Page Down, to be set to send the appropriate codes for either B7 (Word Processor) or B1 (Text Editor). This is an important feature if you edit PROCS or manage documents on the TBL/NT system. NumPad Plus to Tab: This changes the + key on the numeric pad to a Tab character. Show When Dragging: This option shows the screen while it is being dragged or resized. This makes the movement jumpy. For a smoother movement of the window, clear this box. Editing Screens in TBLxNet TBLxNET lets you copy, paste, and change screen text. You can either highlight sections of a screen or take a picture of an entire screen. When you copy text, the text automatically appears in a pasteboard or notepad. From these windows, you can make changes to the text. Copying Text To begin, you must copy text from a screen. 1. Highlight the text you want to edit by clicking the mouse and dragging the arrow across the text. 2. To copy this text, use one of the following methods: Right-click the highlighted text and select Copy. Click. 3. The text is copied. Pasting and Changing the Text When you copy text, the text is automatically pasted to a pasteboard, which you can access by rightclicking the screen and selecting Paste or by clicking. The Paste dialog box opens. You can now make any necessary changes to the text in this box. To embed control codes in the function key, use the following codes: For Enter or Return key, use ^ for Tab key, use. For the Escape key use ~ By default, the ignore box is clear. Text is sent to the application as it is entered. To embed some control codes within the text, clear this box. When you have finished editing, click OK. The changes are saved. If you click Cancel, you exit the Paste dialog box without saving the changes. 7
Taking Pictures To copy an entire screen, you don t have to copy and paste like you do with pieces of text. TBLxNET allows you to take a picture of the entire screen and then automatically places it in a Notepad window. You can perform several options from the Notepad, such as edit, save, or print the text. Changing the Login You can change the login user name and server. 1. On the button bar, click. The xnet Login dialog box opens, as shown in the following figure. The current user name displays in the User Name box. 2. Highlight the name and type the new name over the old. 3. Enter the Server name in the Server box. 8
4. When you finish adding information, click OK. Changing the Window Size TBLxNET lets you modify the size of the window. As you make the window smaller or larger, the font size changes. Use the following instructions to make changes to the window size: 1. Click the lower right-hand corner of the window. 2. While clicking, drag the window to make it smaller or larger. Note: If the window seems jumpy as you drag it, you might have the Show When Dragging box selected in the User Options dialog box. Clear this box for smoother dragging movement. Closing the TBLxNET Terminal When you are finished using TBLxNET, there are several ways to exit. Use one of the following: From the button bar, click. Type Alt + X. Click the X in the upper right-hand corner of the window. 9
