1 First Reference Moving HRtrack to a new computer Process at a Glance Confirm the location of your HRtrack data Install HRtrack on the new computer Copy the HRtrack data folder from the old computer to the new computer. (If necessary) Start HRtrack and connect to your HRtrack data Login to HRtrack Activate HRtrack on the new computer Step 1 Confirm the location of your HRtrack data The first step is to confirm the location of your HRtrack data. You need to know where the data is stored to determine whether you need to copy the folder to the new computer, or simply connect to an existing folder on a network drive. When HRtrack is installed, the folder My Documents\First Reference\HRtrack\back end\company is created. This is the default data location for HRtrack. If the data is stored in this location, the Company folder will need to be copied to your new computer. To confirm the data location, log into HRtrack on your old computer and click Activation > First Reference Override Type database into the text box and click OK. Moving HRtrack to a new computer 1

2 HRtrack Usage Scenarios The full path to the HRtrack data folder appears in all CAPS on the Database Path screen. If the path to the folder indicates the folder is stored on a network drive, go to Step 3 Install HRtrack on the new computer. Step 2 Install HRtrack on the new computer If you need to re download the install package, you can get it from the First Reference website at Click on the Download button to download the Free version as you will unlock the software during the Activation process. (There is no difference between the versions obtained via the Download or Purchase buttons.) 2 Moving HRtrack to a new computer

3 First Reference Double click on the downloaded file and follow the on screen instructions to install the software. Step 3 Copy the HRtrack data folder to the new computer. (If necessary) If the full path to the HRtrack data folder on the Database Path screen indicates the folder is stored on the local drive (i.e., C:\) copy the folder listed on the Database Path screen to the new computer. The easiest way to do this is by using the Backup feature within HRtrack. Log into HRtrack on your old computer and click the Backup button on the HRtrack Home Page. 4 HRtrack Usage Scenarios Select a location for the zip archive and click OK. This can be a folder on your computer, another drive on your network, or other media (e.g., USB drive). Type a password for the zip archive and click OK. 4 Moving HRtrack to a new computer

5 First Reference Click OK to close the Backup Complete confirmation box. Double click on the backup file from your new computer and copy the contents of the zip archive to the C:\My Documents\First Reference\HRtrack\Back end\company folder. You will be prompted for the password created during the backup process when you try to copy the files. Step 4 Start HRtrack and connect to your HRtrack data Double click on the HRtrack icon to start the software. As this is a new installation, you are going to have to select the location of your data before logging in. Click the Options tab and then click the Open Company link Click Browse and go to the C:\My Documents\First Reference\HRtrack\Back end\company folder, or the folder identified in Step 1 if it was not the default data folder (e.g., a network drive) select the file maindata.mdb and click Open. 6 HRtrack Usage Scenarios Step 5 Login to HRtrack Complete the Username and Password fields and click Login. Step 6 Activate HRtrack on the new computer Note: To activate the software, you must be logged in under your user profile (i.e., not an Admin or IT staff account). You will need the your HRtrack Product Key for this step. If you don t know your Product Key, log into the HRtrack installation on your old computer and click Activation > Activate HRtrack. Your Product Key will be shown on the Activation screen. Insert the Product Key and your on the Activation Screen of the new computer, click Activate Software! and you re done! 6 Moving HRtrack to a new computer
