All models of the IBM SurePOS 700 Series now feature IBM Light-Path Management and IBM Remote Management Agent V2 for proactive monitoring and remote updates. These industry-leading technologies help keep systems running smoothly, while reducing IT management costs. All models also feature a virtually tool-free design that offers easy serviceability through secure front access to the system unit. This allows store employees to replace units and swap out parts quickly and easily, helping to ensure maximum uptime and reduce service costs. The enhanced offers an Intel Celeron 440, 512 MB DDR II base memory, and 80 GB SATA HDD option E43: Model E43 is identical to Model 743 except Model E43 is pre-loaded with Windows Embedded for Point of Service operating system. "IBM Ready for" Program The enhanced IBM SurePOS 700 Point-of-Sale System is a platform that is participating in the IBM Ready for Retail Store innovations program. This program provides a way for third-party solution providers to test their solutions against criteria established by IBM. Retailers who would like this added assurance should look for third-party solutions bearing the "IBM Ready for" mark. Limitations One POS printer is supported 24V USB, RS232, or RS485; or 38V RS485. Up to two customer displays are supported, for example: One double-sided VFD (counts as two displays) or One single-sided VFD or LCD, and another single-sided VFD or LCD Up to two Single-Byte Character Set (SBCS) POS keyboards are supported (not including normal PC keyboards): One POS system keyboard (ANPOS) One POS keyboard (ANPOS with pointing device, Compact ANPOS, or other POS keyboards) Up to two MSRs (including those integrated in the keyboards) are supported. Up to two cash drawers are supported. IBM 4690 OS V5.2 running on the enhanced SurePOS 700 Models 723, 743, 783, C43, and associated "S" models, will not support 256 color modes (8-bit) in a dual display configuration. If an 8-bit color mode is selected, 4690 will set equivalent 16-bit mode and log a message. IBM 4690 V5.2 will provide support for Remote Management Agent (RMA V2.2) in early Planning information Customer responsibilities: A system unit with Microsoft Windows XP Professional preload will have a blank HDD installed if replacement is necessary. It is the customer's responsibility to reload the HDD. It is recommended that the customers of preloaded machines order at least one Recovery CD for each location with the initial order. Cable orders: All the required cables are orderable with the IBM Enhanced SurePOS 700 System.
