2 Introduction 1. The objective for the GALENA project is to offer a simple toolkit to allow tracking parcel information with the existing bar code (generated by LIS). 2. GALENA project uses signals from GNSS : it is the GALENA solution to timestamp the tracking outdoor. 3. 3 Introduction European GNSS, Global Navigation Satellite System using GPS, Glonass, Galileo or Beidou system. GALENA project uses a compliance European GNSS smartphone : The Aquaris X5 Plus smartphone, the first Galileo ready smartphones and produced by the Spanish technology company BQ, is now officially Galileo-capable. Following a firmware update released, users can access the Galileo signal via the phone s Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. 3

As Europe s Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), Galileo provides improved positioning and timing information that will greatly benefit European services and users including the Location Based Services (LBS) community. Being fully compatible with all existing and future GNSS (i.e., GPS, GLONASS, etc.), Galileo enables a seamless and accurate experience for multiconstellation users worldwide 4

That mean that the indoor add-on is from the delivery point from env. 50 meters. 20

28 Training session 2 Conclusion NGS smartphone app is the simplest solution to allow the GALENA tracking. This solution needs only a user access in the smartphone application downloaded in Internet, and the same login for the CSP Internet access. This user access, in any Android smartphone with GNSS system, can be used to track a bar code in any parcel pre-defined in the GALENA process (GALENA system sends the bar code to the «sender»). With an every 5 min timestamp, a GALENA customer can see the trip in the CSP. This demonstration can be booked in very short time. The bar code scanner is only a tool to enter in a quickest way the parcel number. It can be done manually or with any bar code scanner linked in Bluetooth (BLE 4) to the smartphone. This communication is automatic. The indoor system is a bit more complicate to implement : the GALENA customer needs to add a specific tag and the warehouse has to be equipped with a radio frequency gateway. It can be done for departure or arrival warehouse. It is to check the exact timestamp of departure / arrival in the distance of 75 meters indoor. This system offers the quickest way to check the delivery. 28
