The Russians win if any of these hexes are occupied by Russian attack-capable units in any supply state and the Russians control Grozny. Any other result is a draw. Option 1 Generaloberst von Kleist intended to attack with the majority of the Panzer and Motorized formations along the mountains to the east to reach the Grozny oil region (K 31.08) and block the Georgian Army Road (K20.01) in the area of the city of Ordzhonikidze (K20.05). He wanted to carry along the majority of his Mountain Divisions as part of his 1 st Panzer Army and use them to penetrate into the Transcaucasus across the Georgian Army Road. However, Generaloberst von Kleist could not get his plan past OKW (Hitler). The 49 Mountain Corp with the 1 st and 4 Mountain Divisions were instead assigned to 17 th Army on August 12, 1942 in preparation for an offensive to take Tuapase. Page 2

3 The Gamers, Inc. The Caucasus and the Oil by Wilhelm Tieke This option assumes that Operation ATTIKA will not take place and the Mountain Divisions are sent to the 1 st Panzer Army. Allow the 49 Mountain Corps HQ and the 1 st and 4 th Mtn Div (each less one step) arrive on 15 August 42 (West Map Edge). In addition if this option is used the German must also capture hex K11.01 in order to win. Option 2 The OKW planned to drop the 7 th Fleiger Div on Grozny in order to support the operation to capture the oilfields; the operation was cancelled in September and the Division was sent to Army Group Center instead. This option gives the German Player the opportunity to bring the 7 th Fleiger Div into the game. At the beginning of the scenario the German Player has the 7 th Fleiger Div at his disposal (1, 3, 4 Flg Rgt) and 4x Ju.52. If the German Player ever has any attackcapable German unit in trace supply at or within two hexes of either hex of Grozny, the 7 th Fleiger arrives in the next German Reinforcement Phase. If this option is used the German Player must also capture hex K38.01 in order to win. Options are cumulative; if Options 1 and 2 are combined the German Player must fulfill all of the Victory conditions (basic scenario and optionals) in order to win. 6.2 Kharkov 1942: The Failed Offensive By Pedro Santos Map Area: EatG Map A (only) Set Up Order: German, Russian First Player on turn 1: Russian First Player on turn 2: Before rolling, the Russian player has the option of going first.
