2 PURPOSE The main purpose of this position is to - Perform content uploads to UCT s corporate, staff, student and news websites - Code and distribute newsletters and communications through UCT s bulk mail system - Website quality control (checking for broken links & images, formatting errors, etc.) - Provide support to other website content managers - Monitor compliance with the Web Content Management Policy - Monitor UCT s web presence for compliance with UCT web policy 14 June 2017 Page 2 of 4 HR191

3 Key performance areas (4 6) (What) 1 Perform content uploads to UCT s corporate, staff, student and news websites % of time spent JOB CONTENT Activities / Objectives / Tasks (How) 50% Do updates, edits and additions on the UCT corporate and other websites as required. Optimise/manipulate images as required. Attend to and be cognizant of correct English usage in all content. Support and assist the Web Editor as required. Results / Outcomes (Why) The UCT corporate, staff, student and news websites function as an effective information and marketing tool. The four websites are up-to-date and accurate. 2 Code and distribute newsletters and communications through UCT s bulk mail system 30% Code HTML newsletter templates from PSD design. Populate HTML newsletter templates with picture and text content provided. Code body content of executive communications, and insert the content into the appropriate template in UCT s bulk mail system. Maintain mailing lists in UCT s bulk mail system. Co-ordinate implementation of mailing list updates and facilitate new list requests through ICTS as required. Newsletters and communications are prepared and distributed timeously. All content and imagery is error-free. Mailing lists contain all of the current addresses for staff, students, council, emeritus professors and are available for distribution as needed. Ad hoc mailing lists are available for use when needed. 3 Website quality control 10% Check for broken links, formatting errors and other issues in the corporate, staff, student and news websites. Correct errors and address issues. UCT s corporate, staff, student and news websites contain error-free content, images and formatting. The sites comply with UCT Web Content Management Policy. Other site content managers are supported and adhere to policy. Corporate, staff, student and news websites content owners and web content managers are assisted with their web content and the improvement of such. 4 Providing support and monitoring compliance 5% Support web content managers in HTML and the use of the official UCT web content management systems. Check for non-compliance with UCT web policy. Report on findings. Reports keep the Web Editor informed of work completed and any issues arising. 14 June 2017 Page 3 of 5 HR191
