Using SEO to your advantage will allow your website to be the first that families turn to as it will be at the top of search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo! Your website with FuneralTech allows you to quickly and simply set up your SEO keywords and descriptions, which in turn will make

75 75 FuneralTech CMS Manual your website more visible in search engines. The following is a guide on how you can optimize the SEO on your FuneralTech website. Site SEO Title: A good title to put in this field would be the name of your Funeral Home. Keywords: There is a character limit of 1000 for this field. This is the important section. This is where you can put the best keywords that describe your site and what is on it. When you add these keywords, you must separate each one with a comma. Some examples for keywords for your site would be funeral home, funeral, cremation, casket, urns, obituaries, your city, pre-planning and names of communities that you serve. Make sure your keywords are relevant and specific, you do not need to repeat the same keyword over and over. Description: This is the description that will show up in a Google Search underneath the title of your Funeral Home. For example you can have something along the lines of XYZ Funeral Home has been proud to serve the ABC community since We pride ourselves on our dedicated and sympathetic service for all our clients families. Be sure to include some of your primary keywords in this description. Google Verification Code: This is a code that the FuneralTech team will generate for you. All this does is it verifies with Google that you own your website, and that it is legitimate.

76 76 FuneralTech CMS Manual Page SEO The main difference between your Page SEO and your Site SEO is quite simple. The Page SEO is setup for each individual page on your website, while your Site SEO is for your website as a whole. The same set of rules applies for Page SEO as they do for Site SEO. For each individual page you enter in the relevant keywords, again you need to separate these keywords with a comma and there is no limit to how many keywords you can have. Under the description section, this is what will appear in the Google Search underneath the title for your page. In this section, you will want to put in a description of your page. Remember to incorporate primary keywords for this page into the description. SEO Do s 1. For your keywords, think like the customer. What do you think a customer would enter into Google to find your funeral home? As you keep making changes to your website, keep adding keywords that you think a customer will use to look for your site. 2. Take advantage of local search opportunities. Setting up a page on Google Places is the quickest and easiest way to get your website recognized on Google. Once you have that set up, your business will appear on Google Search, Maps, Google+ and mobile. You can set up a page on Google Place by click on this link 3. Have active social media pages. In this day in age, social media is critical to your online presence, Google is measuring your websites pulse rate on your social media channels, and being active on these social media pages like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn will help your SEO immensely. Setting up a page on social media is easy, if you need any help with that please let us know! 4. Keep your content natural. In years past, people would stuff their content by repeating keywords over and over again, they would even hide keywords by using the same color font as the background. Those days are over, while we have mentioned that keywords are important, unnaturally putting them into your content over and over again is not necessary, and in fact might earn you a penalty from Google or other search engines. SEO Dont's 1. Link Farming. A link farm is a group of websites that all hyperlink to every other site in the group, generally these are automated programs that people may try to sell you. Avoid these at all costs, as Link Farming is tricking Google and they do not like that, and they will track you down and penalize your site. 2. Keyword Stuffing. As mentioned before, keep your content natural, there is no need to unnecessarily add keywords, or even hide keywords in the content on your pages. Google has

77 77 FuneralTech CMS Manual very sophisticated programs that will pick up on this and they will penalize your site for trying to trick them. 3. Duplicate Content. This is another old SEO technique that you should not do. In days past, people would have the same content spread over multiple links on their website. Google made an update specifically to put an end to this technique, so there is no need to do this. 4. Plaster your link all over in blog comments, guestbooks etc. That s spamming, not SEO. 6.3 Mobile Website TIP: This feature is not included with all systems. Please contact your Account Manager if you are interested in having this feature enabled. Ensure your Mobile Settings have the correct information, and add any information that may be missing. Click to choose a photo that will display on the main page. It is recommended to use your logo. This will open your media files window.
