1 In an effort to support oncology practices striving to achieve CMS s Meaningful Use Stage 2, Altos would like to share the following support information with you. The CMS website is the ultimate source of information and knowledge regarding physician requirements to attest for Meaningful Use. The first part is to provide a transfer of care Summary when the patient is referred to another Provider or setting of care > 50% CERTIFIED WORKFLOW ARRA Meaning Use Calculation - Reporting result example for C Providers must utilize this workflow to place an order for a referral. This can be done from the Tx Plan page, top of a Visit Note, or on the Scheduler page > select Referral. Visit Note Screen Referral button

2 Treatment Plan Referral button 2. Select Referral Type 3. Choose specialty in drop down box 4. Select the Provider if currently in the Recipient list OR Find a Provider to add to the list. If unable to find the Provider, Create a One-Time Recipient may be used. NOTE: The Direct Address function is not yet available in your site as we wait for the outside Vendor to establish the portability of documents out of OncoEMR and documents into OncoEMR. When this information is available, it will be distributed. Currently, measure 15.1 can be completed in OncoEMR but measure 15.2 cannot. The immediate screen example below is what you will see in your site at present. Subsequent screen shots in this document come from a development site so staff can start to familiarize themselves with the workflow. Send Referral Current screen example

4 6. An Outgoing Referral is created in documents. This contains a Patient Summary with clinical information. Patient Referral added to Documents 7. Your scheduler/check out staff will see the following in the appointment list Scheduler Refer to Doctor Activity

5 8. The Orders page will have the following displayed Orders Refer to Doctor displayed in Orders 9. The Tx Plan page will have the Refer to (MU2) activity auto-populate. The name of the requested provider displays on the page. Treatment Plan Refer to Doctor

6 10. If you do not have a direct address for a physician, the document can be faxed or printed from the documents page. Documents fax directly from OncoEMR

7 15.1 will be satisfied when a CCD, C-CDA or Referral document populates in the Documents section. These different documents are created in one of the following ways. There are different options due to Practice differences in the MU year they need to attest for. a) Continuity of Care Exported (visit) category when Generate Visit CCD is selected. (This is for MU edition compliance). Faxing or printing of the document is intended. b) C-CDA Summary (Exported) category when Download Summary (HTML) is selected. (This is for MU1 or MU compliance). 8 c) Outgoing Direct Referral this will be the category name when Send is selected from the Referral screen and a direct address delivery occurs. (This is for MU compliance) d) Outgoing Referral this will be the category when the Download or Save is selected. This option is used when faxing or printing of the document is intended. ARRA Meaning Use Calculation - Reporting result example for C-15.2 TIP: As physicians change their current workflow of selecting the Refer to activity to selecting the new Referral feature, the old way may take some time to transition away from. If a designated staff member recognizes a legacy Refer to activity in the Scheduler, they can generate the referral with the same steps. A link to Referral is on the Scheduler page.
