2 BIT & ACRES Databases BIT (Brownfields Inventory Tool) Intended to help tribes document survey & inventory, assessment and cleanup, public record, oversight & enforcement, and meet administrative reporting requirements For any type of environmental site or program ACRES (Assessment, Cleanup, Redevelopment Exchange System) Can do much of the above For sites related to EPA grant funds 2
3 Brownfields Inventory Tool - Desktop &Web Editions Introduction: Desktop Edition released October, 2010 & updated May 6, 2011 A web-based version was released January, 2010 Desk-top version runs and stores data on your PC - not the internet 3

9 Reports and Maps View Sites on Map Search/Export - data analysis - custom reporting - gather more data - for all programs - to backup data Importing data - to move data in from another source - to add to existing site data - to do trial imports 9
10 Generate Reports Reports Select the type of report Site-specific reports for: site files in program office attachments for quarterly reports forms to take to the field Making information available to the public Select the Program and Site(s) for which you wish to generate a report. You may select multiple sites only for the Multiple Property Profile Form. Generate the selected report(s) MPPF reporting via , to EPA Regional Offices and ACRES
11 Submitting TRP Data to ACRES Add info on your sites in BIT; before generating report: Put your name and report effective date in PPF tab of Site Information page Put name of your Regional EPA Project Officer Generate report and To your EPA Regional Project Officer & discuss it To ACRES Help Desk, and notify your Project Officer once you ve been notified the data has been put into ACRES Instructions are on BIT Generate Reports page

16 General Advice Choose either BIT or ACRES for day-to-day use One or the other but not both to avoid multiple versions of the same data! Use Desktop edition to store data only on a PC (vs. an internet server) Use Web edition for access if mapping and account sharing is important Use Export or Imports to select data of interest to: Prioritize sites for proposals or grant activities Have contractors help input data Make maps in GIS Use Generate Reports feature to: Submit multiple property profile forms to ACRES Print Public Record forms for repositories Print attachments for Quarterly Reports or hard copies for paper files Go to web site to get started - its easy! 43 Reports and Maps (cont) 1 2 Search/export Follow instructions 1) Select All or one specific program. 2) Select Add a New Category and Add a New Search Field as needed to find sites that meet desired search parameters Blank Template produces a blank excel file that data can be added to for later import. 3 3) Click Search Note: Searching All programs returns a list of All sites in all programs it is not possible to define search parameters for all sites. 43
